TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/20/2015 22:09:32)

I gotta work tomorrow, then do Father's Day stuff, so I doubt I'll have time to really do anything until this weekend. A real bummer, I gotta admit. Could have had time today, but went to baby shower and then binged on Game of Thrones Season 1.

Riprose123 -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/20/2015 22:32:24)

I regret dropping off the face of this RP, I really do. Unfortunately, I lost interest in writing Maria. I think I would like to rejoin, if you'll let me, but with a different character. I've read most of the IC (Only have about a page and a half left) and I would be honored if you would let me continue writing with ya'll.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/20/2015 22:40:35)

Okay Rip, that would be fine. We're at a clean slate right now, actually.

Riprose123 -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/20/2015 22:45:38)

In between arcs? :O Excellent! I'll edit in a bio sometime tonight/tomorrow then!

brotherinlaw -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/24/2015 21:31:13)

I Am Reborn!!!!!!!!!

...no, I think not. Grossly oversized, all caps, colored font style? That's a type of spam, see =AE= Comprehensive Forum Rules. Formatting adjusted.
edited:sorry, got exited. won't happen again.
....and appearently removed.....
totally understood of course. my brother is still working with the forum help to fix his account

so....is this a probationary thing, are one or both of us allowed back, or should we just packup and leave well enough alone? either way I totally understand!
just letting you know, just in case, my brother and I agreed that, should anything of this or a similer nature (like hacked accounts or extended unanounced family trips)happen, we willingly forfeit the right to control our characters, to forfeit control of them to another party, kill them, write them off, or turn them into NPC's to TJByrum (mine probably wouldn't work as an NPC, but my brother's, a monstrous cursed armaments vendor? I smell potential!)

Finally, thank you very much for your understanding of our.....predicaments.

edit; just read afina's bio and well, crap! not only does my bio look inadequate by comparison, but we've got my necromancer oozing dark energies all over the place, and Lichviathan's character can make blessed, enchanted, cursed, and doom sets, most of which can effect her, and we have demonkin and ancient magyk swirlin about the place......crap!

One does not share their account. Inappropriate content removed. ~RoninOfDreams

Lichviathan -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/26/2015 9:38:08)

Oh man, glad that's over!
gotta hand it to those forum help guys, they're really good!
okay reposting a bio (this one taking into account your suggestions, @TJ)

Name:Leviathan
Age/Race/Gender:473/ Although technically a void Vartai (half dragon), in their culture he's also known as a Ahvakaar, literally "abomination", because his other half isn't human, it's demon./male
Physical Appearance: His general physique is brutish and hulking. he stands nine feet tall, has a massive barrel chest, broad shoulders, and a neck only slightly less thick than his chest. His head is identical to a void dragon, with no eyes, long fangs, and twisted horns sprouting from his skull, but with one strange variation; like his mother, he has the large crest of a queen. the crest is 3 feet long and adds another 2 feet to his height. his hands and feet are large and thick, ending in long, powerful claws. his skin is the same black and red scales twisted into a carapace that all void dragons have, and, like some hybrids, he's sterile, in his case leaving no external genitalia (this will factor in later). his broad, sloaped back has ridges running down his spine, and his blood is green. Like both his parents, he can take a secondary, more humanoid form, though he experiences a personality shift towards his more cunning, double-talking, slimy demon traits, so he doesn't like it very much. in this form he is 6 foot tall and of a leek, athletic build, like a runner. his skin is a plated, flexible material, bure black and reflecting the spectrum like oil, except very hypnotic. he has long fingers that end in long, bladed points, and his face it one solid, featureless plate.
Armor/Clothing: actually he goes in the nude all the time. he has the best natural armor and nothing to flash, so why not? he does, however, have a hand-tailored suit with tie and handkerchief for special occasion. When in his humanoid form, he tends to wear an identical suit, as well as a top hat, and a black-gold stopwatch.
Weapons: his claws his teeth, his dragon beam/breath. his blood has a PH of -4, so that could be a thing. he also has a hammer he uses for blacksmithing, and it’s absorbed some pretty whacky energies over the years. He also has a cane-sword for his human form with intricate demon-runes carved on the body and a crypt-fiend's head as the handle.
Other Items: he brought with him 7 gold bars from his mother’s hoard (a gift), his anvil, his hammer, and a few other crafting reagents.
Skills: He is a superb blacksmith who specialises in cursed and demon weapons and armors. he has a particular knack for reading people, and is able to create weapons perfect for a specific individuals every need. He is highly intelligent, and tends to pick up on, connect, or just know things no-one else possibly could.
Abilities: Void dragon breath beam cannon thing, he’s also got a knack for magic when it comes to forging. He is also skilled with any kind of weapon, a skill necessary when forging all sorts of armaments
History: Leviathan was born as a sign of peace between the void dragons and the demons of Heck. Though bounced between parents and raised to be royalty, he found a greater kinship with his father’s “embarrassing” family history; his clan were originally craftsmen who stole the secrets in the making of such things as the blade of awe, the doomknight armor, and drakel magiscience, and then used them to sell their own weapons. After learning all he could, he decided to leave the life of a royal and go to dragonspine to learn of the world and dragon magic in particular. he also learned that his demon blood made him an outcaste, and he left to wander in search of new secrets and techniques. over the course of his travels he’s been to many places, apprenticed to many people, and learned many things. Now he travels to Darkwald, hoping to set up his own smithy and even take advantage of the unique reasorces of the area to better his skill.

there you go, he'll travel in his secondary form, allowing for him to enter town without interfering with the story.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/26/2015 16:32:19)

@Brotherinlaw: You seem a little jumpy Inlaw, but I suppose that's okay. You may post now, since I have clearance from Ronin. Just make sure you understand the rules about godmodding, meta-gaming, and bunnying; those are the biggest three things in RPing, other than one-liners.

@Lichviathan: I think we talked about this guy already. This hulking, frightening, monster-like creature would not be accepted into the town. Even in his more-humanoid appearance, he'd be very alien to the locals... I'll accept him, but I want to warn you that I have to keep the town 'in character; so to speak, and they might not treat him so well.

Afina -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/26/2015 16:52:29)

Yeah, not gonna happen. Don't worry about it affecting her, I've covered my bases with Arey.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/26/2015 17:02:45)

After checking back over the items (the list was compiled in January), these are the ones I found fitting to add. I wanted more, so everyone could at least buy one item, but these are the only ones I had any real paths for. He'll probably arrive in my next post.

Some are confusing, I know, and seem pointless, but there's a reward for each one - you just gotta work it. Some are mutual, meaning in order for either to work you need both - or two individuals need to work together to activate both. Some open up questlines.

Jaque's Trinkers

Dragon Egg - 3 points
Shaped like an egg, but as large as a man's abdomen. This egg is scaly, like a dragon, harder than stone, but lighter than you'd imagine. There are shades of grey, red, blue, green, and purple splotched over its surface, as if it was painted long ago. It's obviously old and ancient. Jaque insists it is dormant and will never hatch; he also refuses to tell how he came about it.
Necronimicon - 2 points
A strange old book with rough pages and bindings - yet it holds together perfectly. It is 3 inches thick, has a dark grey, textured appearance on its cover, an image of a human skull on its center, and various runic inscriptions written in circles on it. A strap has been fastened to it so you can carry it over your shoulder, letting it rest on your waist. A button holds the book closed. Jaque has had this book each time he's visited the town, but everyone is to superstitious to buy this 'evil' book. Someone with specific knowledge only could read this.
Dim Orb - 1 point
A pitch-black ball, roughly 5 inches in diameter. Unusually smooth, glossy, unscratched, and very hard. Moving it around lets out a humming noise, but it doesn't seem to do much else. Perhaps its true power has not yet been unlocked. Jaque swears the orb hums louder when he re-enters the Darkwald, mores specifically along the southeastern road.
Raggled Map - 1 point
Obviously old, this map is rolled up and held together by an elastic band. Jaque says it is an ancient map of the Darkwald, as the town of Blackwater is not even present on it. A few symbols spread across the parchment seem to indicate certain landmarks, but Jaque isn't sure if those landmarks even exist anymore.
Aiko's Katana - 1 point
An elegant and elaborately-made sword from the Eastern lands. It is uniquely light, easy to wield, and seems to give the wielder increased speed, agility, and perception. Its blade never dulls, and never makes a sound. Jaque seems to think the blade belonged to an Eastern woman known as Aiko. It seems to hold some sort of magical force in it. He wants to get rid of it to get the 'ronin' off of his back.
Unfinding Key - 1
A rusted old key Jaque found stuck in the dirt on his way to town.
Black Hilt - 1
An elaborately made, but twisted and sinister-looking sword hilt; the blade was removed, not broken. Gripping it makes it seem as if small needle are poking into your skin, but no needles are visible. It feels a bit heavier than it should. Jaque warns people that as long as it has been in his possession, he's heard unwelcomed voices at night.

Special Offer: Donate 1 point to Luke Grange as he sets out on his next 'business venture', potentially receiving 3 points the next time Jaque visits!

brotherinlaw -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/27/2015 10:15:31)

thank you, and don't worry, I might not act like it, but I've been Rping for years.

actually, considering that, the spamming is a little....embarrassing.....

anyway, thanks for the go ahead, posting asap!

edit; um, what are these "points" you speak of? I ask because I'm interested in the necronomicon. It just seems like something my character would jump at.
edit again; um,exactly how much time has passed in the RP since I 'appeared' (I'm just gonna say I smelled demon and stayed out of sight to track them). Anyway, I can't tell by reading it, so i'll just ask.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/27/2015 11:15:25)

Actually, I would ignore your other arrival. Just assume you're entering the Darkwald, or maybe you're already in Blackwater. Maybe you're visiting the inn for the first time, or maybe you're a regular. That's up to you. It is currently morning time in the Darkwald.

Every time Jaque visits, you'll get 1 point. Fortunately, your bio was posted before Jaque's arrival, so I went ahead and gave you and your brother one. You can buy anything worth 1 point, save your point, or give the point to Luke. The Necronimicon is 2 points, so no one can buy it yet. If you give your point to Luke, you'll get 3 points the next time Jaque visits.

joeyof98 -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/27/2015 12:39:18)

would I be able to use the black hilt for weapon crafting, or would that interfere with the story?

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/27/2015 12:45:26)

Assuming you was a player, the Black Hilt is missing its blade. It would open up a questline of what the hilt is exactly, where it came from, who owned, and if everything goes as planned - the finding of the blade itself.

Putting your own blade on it might work, but I would force you to eventually replace it with the actual blade.

Master K -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/27/2015 22:08:21)

So, due to getting a job, my posting might take a hit. Just thought I would warn you guys if my absence begins to show...

joeyof98 -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/28/2015 8:53:52)

thank you. and actually, I was't sure if I was approved or denied at the last post you made on my bio. It sounded like you disapproved, but will allow it, but I haven't actually seen acceptance.

f you do not accept it, I have an idea for a new bio,I was just waiting for a definite answer.

brotherinlaw -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/28/2015 9:24:01)

posted, you control the guards at the town entrances, right? I'm waiting to enter the town then.

Bastet -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/28/2015 9:51:37)

You must've not read the first posts, as it shows everyone handled their interaction with the guards individually (while maintaining their character consistent)

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/28/2015 14:50:57)

Joey, please provide you new bio in this thread.

Brotherinlaw, so far everyone has used the guards quite alright, but if you want me to control them, I can do that too.

Kooroo -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/28/2015 23:56:28)

Here's the Bio. Post shall be up when I deem it to be acceptable.

EDIT: Altered the appearance slightly by changing things to what they're supposed to be and removed a couple of typos.

Name: Gladius Shrike

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown

Race: Altered Human

Height: 1.84m

Weight: 86kg

Appearance:
Wears a featureless steel mask that covers the front half of his head. The only feature it has is a dim, light-green, glass slit where his eyes would be. There're no holes for his nose or mouth, yet he has a constant rasp when he 'breathes'. His hair is a dirty brown, growing long and unkempt from beneath his mask..
He covers his neck with a dark red scarf, resting on top of a dusty grey cape split down the middle. The cape ends just past his knees, its edges heavily frayed.

On the rest of his body, he wears a white shirt and black trousers. A thick, dark grey, leather vest is over his shirt. Grey tassets reach down to the back of his knees and span the back half of his belt. The front half of his belt holds 4 small pouches of equal size.
In addition, Shrike wears leather vambraces and gauntlets over his arms.
Black, shin-high combat boots round off his daily attire, giving him an outfit that just beams happiness and sunshine with its 3 totally different shades.

"How many different shirts do you have?"
"Lots."

Weapons:
Besides spawning daggers, he has 3 main weapons.

The Nameless Blade:
A white-bladed odachi with an incredibly keen edge.
The scabbard has its own ‘guard’ at around its mouth, where it mates with protrusions along the guard on the blade. These protrusions are 2 short flat strips of metal sticking out from the sword guard, bordering the back and the front of the blade, and 2 small prongs that lie along the flat surfaces of the blade.
The handle and guard are golden in color with a white wrapping around the grip. The sword’s blade is a startling white, almost to the extent that it is painful to look at.
The scabbard is black and made of a material similar in appearance to obsidian, though with less of a sheen and is even harder. It constantly feels warm, as though heated by an internal flame.

The blade has a few special properties.
Firstly, it’s always very hot to touch, as though it was held over a fire for a few minutes. As expected, getting slashed or stabbed by it hurts a ‘bit’ more than usual.
As mentioned above, the blade’s edge is incredibly keen being able to cut through most things with enough force applied. With Shrike’s strength, he can’t cut through especially solid things, like poles or other blades.
Lastly, it’s incredibly durable and it would take something exceptional strong to break it.
Shrike keeps this tied on the left side of his belt normally. He rarely uses it, generally using his Shrike blade instead.

Shrike blade and dagger:
Shrike's namesake blade and dagger.
The blade is roughly the size of a short sword. It has one cutting edge and its crossguard is like that of a sai. It can be formed as either a sword or an arm blade, where it fuses itself on top of his right vambrace.
The dagger itself is rather simple. Its blade is quite curved and roughly 25 centimeters long, miniscule compared to its sister blade. It has a broken red gem in the center of its guard. It can fuse with his left vambrace, becoming slightly thinner and considerably long when it does so (35 centimeters).

Both weapons are spawnable at will and are electrically charged. The energy they're charged with is strong enough to cause loss of motor functions if you get stabbed in the chest with it. Though if you get stabbed in the chest, you're probably going to lose all motor functions and more anyway.
A nick or a scratch will cause sharp pain and numbness in the area, followed by pins and needles later down the track.

"Clear."

Equipment:
Gladius Mask:
Besides keeping his face hidden and making his voice sound way ahead of its time, the mask is rather good at giving away his position in the dark. The light it emits is a clear target during periods of darkness .
In exchange, however, it grants him superior night vision, self-sustenance (what's eating, drinking and breathing?) and camouflage at will (almost). Damage taken from energy weapons or attacks are also significantly reduced, meaning he never has to worry about being struck by lightning in a thunderstorm.
That's a pretty good deal.
Rumor has it that it's not detachable and it's unknown what he does when it gets damaged.

"Can I try it on?"
"No."

Other Items:
In his belt pouches, he holds a fair amount of gold coins and one magical crystal. The crystal requires Energy magic to power it and is capable of communicating with a single twin.

Combat and Physical Capabilities:
Shrike's physical strength is above average and his unarmed combat is pretty solid. His skill with a blade is rather good, comparable with a skilled swordsman. His main strengths are his inhuman speed and agility, though. His accuracy is pretty much on point as well. His stamina is most definitely greater than any human's and regenerates faster than any human's as well.

His mask makes him almost self-sustainable and as a result, he doesn't require food, drink or air. He does need a fair bit of sleep, however, and sleeps for a couple of hours longer than a normal human would to keep his constitution up. Lack of sleep results in slower stamina recovery, weakening in his abilities and eventually everything else starts slowly going to hell. Many, many, many short power naps kinda make up for it if he's ever on the run, but don't quite have the same effect.
Shrike's ability to recover from injuries and illnesses is also greater than that of a normal human's, normally being able to halve the time needed to recover from injuries. Bones heal freakishly fast, taking only a handful of days for a minor fracture. To heal that rapidly, though, he pretty much needs to be constantly sleeping. Healing abilities from mages tend to fizzle, so he's mostly reliant on himself (or an especially determined/powerful healer) for recovery.

Skills and Abilities:
Shrike's abilities are dual-utility abilities. They can be used one of 2 ways, but not both at the same time.

Optical Camouflage/Inertia Burst:
Exactly as it says on the tin. The second bit is a bit more complicated.

Makes Shrike blend in with the background remarkably well, almost to be point of invisibility. Using the ability also mutes his rasping, but it doesn't mute any other sound he might make.
He's not completely invisible, however, and if you stare directly at him when he's camouflaged, you'll see some slight disturbance in the area. Similar to a heat haze, but not quite as bad.
You can also feel him if you're close enough, as the camouflage gives off a lot of heat.
Oh, and his mask. The light, while not particularly bright, is still visible, so if that's not a dead give away then that's impressive.
The camouflage also refuses to work when submerged and immediately turns off when he uses an ability.

Inertia Burst messes with physics slightly. Upon activation, Shrike will stop any motion. Although it's not that he'll stop any movement (eg. twiddling his thumbs), but rather he'll stop flying through the air or sliding along the ground. Can't be activated too often, as it'll causes a considerable dip in his sizeable stamina reserves. After use, it and Optical Camouflage can't be used for a minute.
Works incredibly badly while riding animals.

"That's a neat trick, except for the part where I can still see you."

Spawn Blade/Lightning Blade:
Almost what it is on the packaging.

Spawn Blade is exactly what it says it is. It allows Shrike to spawn up to 8 daggers or throwing stars at a time. When 8 blades are spawned and he attempts to spawn another, the first blade he spawned will disappear. Blades also automatically despawn after a minute or so if he's not holding them, or within grabbing distance.
This gives him more than enough ammunition to make an archer jealous, although he can't really throw especially far compared to a normal humanbeing. Especially good for hunting and skinning animals, though he doesn't really do that often. If ever.... He's done that maybe twice.
Shrike can also vary the daggers or shuriken slightly as he wishes.

Lightning Bolt is where Shrike throws a dagger made of energy. Unlike the daggers he spawns with Blade Spawn, these energy daggers are spawned as projectiles. With his insane mana regeneration, he can keep hurling energy daggers without care. They have a max range of roughly 10 meters before dissipating. A strike from an energy dagger will normally knockdown a target and incapacitate them at best.

Blade Withdrawal/Blade Link:
The easiest abilities to swap between.

Blade Withdrawal pulls all of his spawned blades back towards him. There is no set range, and the blades usually take the straightest path back towards him. They have trouble avoiding objects and might cut a few things up back along the way. Daggers return towards him pointy end first, while throwing stars spin at frightening speeds.

Blade Link does the exact opposite. Shrike can use it to pull himself to any of his spawned blades. The path that he'll take will always be a straight line. He can choose to pull himself towards a blade using any of his limbs as a 'tether' point (ie. he can choose to go towards it feet-first or arm-first). Incredibly good for climbing, walking up vertical surfaces or general mobility. Things might get awkward if objects get in the way. There's generally no surprise as to which direction he'll end up going, as he can sense the general whereabouts of his blades.

History:
A bounty hunter and mercenary by trade, there're very few jobs Shrike will turn down if they pay right. No one knows where he came from. No one knows his abilities.
He showed up several years ago, during one particularly quiet evening to collect the bounty for an especially nasty gang leader. After dumping the gang leader's head in front of a stunned crowd, he collected his money and vanished.
Several weeks later, Shrike reappeared to collect another reward several towns over. Another month, and he reappeared in yet a different town.
The trend of tavern reappearances was broken when he was reported to have robbed a merchant's caravan with a group of mercenaries. Since then, the list of crimes he has been linked to has steadily increased.

No one knows how to call upon his services. Rumor has it that if you ask for him at a tavern, he will eventually find or contact you. Some say that if you find the right person, they will give you the information needed to find him. The stupid ones believe some ritual is needed. One thing is for certain, and that is the only ones that do come into contact with him and survive are those who have plenty of money.

"If you have the money, continue. If you do not, then my time and your life are forfeit."

Personality:
Likes: Money. Moments of quiet.
Dislikes: Poverty. Noisy people. Removing bloodstains from clothes.
Hobbies: Working. Darts.

Silent, cunning and professional. He’s generally to the point whenever he does speak, which isn't very often.
Oddly enough, he doesn't seem to make any friends, nor does he seek them. As a result, little is known what he is like when not on the job or what he does in his spare time (though most people bet that he's always on the job).
Dislikes teamwork immensely, but he can coordinate in a team fairly well if it's needed or he's paid to. Distrusts almosts everyone, especially other bounty hunters and mercenaries.

"Much more can be achieved through teamwork. Which makes failure all the more crushing."

Bastet -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/29/2015 8:17:23)

Seems a bit... strong.

Draycos777 -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/29/2015 16:04:59)

Not really, if you consider the Nazha's, Kit's and Samjet's power.

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/29/2015 16:22:46)

I thought it was borderline OP for a RP like this. But looking back at the character's I've accepted already, Shrike's power level isn't to far off from theirs. It would be wrong to deny him.

I was looking for more of the local hunters, rangers, bounty hunter, mercenary, apostate types. But I'm glad people got more creative than that. It makes it interesting that there's a vampire amongst Blackwater, for example.

Riprose123 -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/29/2015 16:49:11)

Do you accept custom races?

Draycos777 -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/30/2015 9:20:45)

quote:

Name: Any names or aliases your character goes by.
Age/Race/Gender: How old you are, what race you are, and whether you're a man or woman (or neither, or both). Humans, elves, and dwarves are all completely fine. Custom races are also fine, but ask for permission first (give me a brief description as well, please).
Physical Appearance: How do you look? Facial features, skin color, hair style, hair color, eye color, scars, tattoos, etc.
Armor/Clothing: Any special armor, clothes, or robes you typically wear.
Weapons: Any weapons (including staves) you may own.
Other Items: Trinkets, odds and ends, books, jewelry, etc.
Skills: Any learned/natural skills. This includes parkour, tracking, agile, strong, swordsman, archer, etc. Personal traits that are not magic.
Abilities: Magical abilities. Most magic is subtle; you won't find a pure mage or wizard here, although magic is allowed. Most magic-users rely on mana reserves, spelltomes, grimoires, and runestones. They often wear robes, but that's not always the case. They may also use wands and staves, but they almost always carry daggers, swords, or whatever else they may need.
History: What you did up until this point, unless you want to keep it secret for now (or forever).

Hope that helps Rip :)

TJByrum -> RE: The Hallows Inn (OOC II) (6/30/2015 16:29:48)

Dray hit it right on the spot.
