Hey, y'all. I just wanted to say I'm really enjoying AQ3D at the moment, and would like to share some of my impressions so far. I'll start by saying I've been away from AE games for a while now, due to work and other responsibilities keeping me occupied. For the last couple of years, I've only logged into AQWorlds actively in short bursts, mainly to meet up with old friends and browse any rare item shops that came along (I made it just in time for 8th Upholder!). I didn't think I'd ever really get back into playing AE games like I used to, but then I heard the announcement of AQ3D. I'll admit, at first I was hesitant about putting a lot of time and/or money in the game, but I pledged on Kickstarter anyway and became a Founder and Alpha Tester. Once the game began early alpha testing, I logged in to give it a try--keeping my expectations low, since it wasn't and still isn't a finished game yet--mainly just to run around a bit, try out a few quests, grab the alpha items, then log out and go play AQWorlds with all my friends who hadn't made the jump to AQ3D. I decided I would come back after the game had been developed some more. After closed beta began, I came back again to grab my Kickstarter/Founder/Guardian items and do a few more quests. I think I finished the ones in Battleon and most of the ones in Greenguard before thinking to myself 'These are so repetitive. Why am I even doing this?' Then I went back to AQWorlds and GTA Online. Finally, open beta arrived, so I decided to log back in to see what's new, again with low expectations and no intention of judging the game until the developers confirm it's 'complete.' Still, my friends from AQWorlds had not jumped over to AQ3D, but now, there were two servers open to explore and meet new friends, so I put a little more time into playing the game, forcing myself to stick with the quests, killing the same monsters repeatedly and progressing through the game. It was almost the same as in alpha and closed beta, but this time, there were a lot more people in each area to talk to, so it helped pass the time between turning in each quest. Now, every time I log on, I can go to almost any area and find a group of people to tag along with, complete quests, raid dungeons, or just sit around and talk to, and I can do so from my computer at home, or my phone from anywhere else. I didn't think I'd like the idea of playing an MMO like this on my phone's screen, but AE has really pulled it off so far. Sometimes, even if I'm at home and I'm feeling too lazy to open up my laptop and let it boot up (don't judge me), I just whip out my phone and log in almost instantly, and have almost as much fun playing as I do from my computer (having to use my phone's keypad to chat with other players being the only big downfall). After the Mogloween event was released, I thought I would be way too lazy to accumulate all the crafting materials needed to create that epic top hat, but the amount of friendly players in Battleon who had the same goal made it a fun experience. Same to all the players who helped me get through the Mogloween dungeons. After a little bit, the nostalgia started to hit and I remembered playing the Mogloween event in AQWorlds for the first time back in 2008, and realized what we players are doing now is history in the making. I thought a lot of the quests were repetitive at first, but now, I feel they're part of the fun, especially when you've got friendly people in the area to keep you company. I can see ourselves in a few years when this game becomes a huge, worldwide success, standing in Yulgar's Inn and telling stories to the new generation of players about all the bugs and glitches we experienced and helped fix during the early game. I didn't really enjoy the game much at first, but I do now, and I know I'll enjoy it even more with each update. This game is still in its early stage, but I have faith that AE will turn AQ3D into the MMO giant it has the potential to be. There are probably some things I missed, but I'll update this post if I remember them. Hope you all have a fantastic day, and continue to enjoy the game.
