I'll answer your question by giving you the items to consider. 1. How conductive is the metal of the spear? That will determine the damage to the metal vessel itself right there. The more conductive the metal, the more scarring and less outright deformation will occur as the lightning moves through it. Small metal objects, and yes a spear is sufficiently small in this regard, do not handle lightning well at all. But, to be fair, you are aiming for a Rule of Cool factor as well. I'm cool with the idea and the narrative not matching real physics, I'm just providing that information to you. 2. Lightning really doesn't last that long, nor does it really spark. The construct generating it is magical, yeah, but the lightning discharge itself is 100% natural. So with regards to sparks, it more comes down to if the metal will carry a residual charge rather than rerouting. The strike will seek out the spear on its way to the ground, sure, but otherwise shortest path remains the case. Apply the "Rule of Cool" as appropriate when you do your thing. 3. Does the spirit enjoy getting zapped? If not, I would think its about to have a very rough time of things, what with the destructive energies running through its vessel. So yeah, you do your thing for the narrative according to your ideas on what metal the spear is nade of and what you aim to achieve. I appreciate you checking in, but I am leaving narrative leeway to you so go for it.
