Lord Machaar -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/18/2015 15:26:41)

Balance section of the DN should be posted in the balance section of the forums [:D].
I like what the new cores do, they are fresh except for few:
Detonation (Bot Special): Deal bonus damage equal to difference in target's highest and lowest base stat. Useful, we still need numbers, might be OP.
Phase Shift (Primary Core): Deal normal damage of the opposite type (Physical/Energy) . Useless.
Salvage (Aux Core): Disable opponent's bot for 3 turns. Useful.
Pacify (Sidearm Core): Lower target's Rage gain for 3 turns. Kinda useful.
Tranquility (Armor Core): Spend all current Rage. Gain Health based on percent of Rage spent. Useless. Generator gives you HP/energy back.

Therril Oreb -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/18/2015 15:33:25)

You have no idea how bad I feel about myself now ._.
Fixing this now!

Exploding Penguin -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/18/2015 19:09:07)

Detonation: Cool but really only useful against builds that aren't focus.
Phase Shift: Oh my god this would have been SO cool and useful in previous phases or early Omega. Unfortunately this isn't really the case anymore since debuffs aren't used that often and most builds have fairly balanced defenses. Also I don't know about numbers but really should cost no energy or barely any at all.
Salvage: Cool actually. Nice that this is a one-use core instead of what someone else suggested where it was part of a robot. Also on the aux which is nice.
Pacify: Very nice. Specifically counters certain builds but can also be useful in general.
Tranquility: Goodness, this is so great. Now certain matchups (mostly strength vs. focus/tanky) where a tanky person doesn't need rage can use it to heal and actually stand a chance.

Seeing a lot of suggested cores being implemented, which I really like. Overall I'm really pleased with these cores because they are fairly useful across most build types, are suggestions by the players, and specifically target a lot of "problems" that people complain about all the time on the forums.

It should work like this: If the opponent has equal base stats it does nothing.
If the opponent has 130+35 Strenght and 20+0 Support it does 110 damage (130-20).
Against a typical 5 focus Tech build it would do 40-55 damage.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 7:31:07)

I totally agree with Machaar.. The cores so are pointless and useless.

I don't remember core names, but ik what they do so here.

- I rarely see anyone using 5 focus build these days. So 3 turns bot disable....useless, at least for now.

- The opposite damage thing? What?? useless.

- Armor core. Unless the hp/mp is double the quantity of what you get from generator, why bother with that?? Waste your rage and get health or just get health??

quote:

Pacify (Sidearm Core): Lower target's Rage gain for 3 turns.
Considering the mp u will use and the damage u output(Which idk for now) but i think mostly useless.

Were these cores even practically tested?? (with the current situation of ED??)

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 7:35:44)

^

Soul, coming from someone who uses these cores in battle and has seen them used against me, I think they are absolutely amazing. A statement like 'rarely see anyone using 5 focus builds these days' shows that you're completely unfamiliar with the state of the game.

Phase Shift, the 'opposite damage thing', is reusable with a three-turn cooldown, making it very useful for STR builds.

The Armor Core, Tranquility, does indeed give about twice the amount of health as Generator at max rage.

Pacify requires very little EP and is extremely useful against STR and SUPP builds, with niche uses against 5 focus builds as well. I find this particularly useful.

The bot-disabling core, Salvage, is a godsend for those who need a last-minute reprieve against bots and IA in particular. Very useful for SUPP builds.

Monkakazi's Detonation is great against STR, SUPP and sometimes DEX builds, since you may not make it to 7-turns+ with IA against those builds.

The question is not whether these cores were tested. The question is whether you have tested them.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 8:06:32)

^ I am talking about 2v2. idk about 1v1. So i am not completely wrong. On the bases of what i play is what i said. And the "unfamiliar part" that applies for you too. (i.e 2v2)

And the way you described the usefulness of these cores, they definitely seems to be very useless for 1v and not much for 2v2. And god knows about jugg. They abandoned that mode long ago.

Darkwing -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 8:06:33)

With the introduction of these 4 new cores(or 5) only hope the next cores are not locked to certain items. the vendbot needs more standard cores for gear.

Maybe you guys could realses some hard to get cores like ethernal cores except it's something different.

If it is block-able, which is, till now, we don't know if it is block-able or deflectable due to the lack of information, the bot will be totally useless against high dexterity builds. Making this bot totally useless
against these builds, will only put players away from it, proving once again that IA still leads the way, as its nuke can deal a deflectable nuke damage (even though the normal damage of it is blockable),
which is at least better than the monkakazi that has 2 block-able attacks.
I do have another question about this bot, which I'm pretty sure no one knows the answer of, when we do the calculation of the enemy's highest and lowest skill, do we count stats given by weapons too?
For instance, a support player that has 115 + 35 support and 19 strenght, are we going to consider 115 support - 19 str = 96, as the description says "Base stat" or 115 + 35 - 19 = 131 ?

SouL Prisoner -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 10:43:07)

Just bought the promo set(the bot 1) man... so not worth changing my current weapons. At least not for 2v2 and 1v1, i doubt i am ever doing that. Probably just for the missions i guess :/

To get the full advantage of the new promo weapons, you have to hope that most of the players use 5 focus and your self too. Not sure when that's gonna happen.

DELTA BEING -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 20:00:41)

when they release the new promos in the in-game shop, why can't they sell the core individually as well?

Exploding Penguin -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 20:38:02)

Because the promo isn't actually the core, per say. It's more like the core is the unique attribute of the item which is in fact the real promo.

DELTA BEING -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 20:59:09)

the main reason why most people, these days, would buy a promo package is because of the cores not the items that the cores are bound to and I think it would be a good idea to sell the cores separately

Lord Machaar -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/20/2015 21:23:06)

A promo item is more than a core, according to devs, art do count to, for example the last coreless armor that was released and was sold for 2k var, and when I asked charfade, she has confirmed that,
many artists have worked on that armor, sadly, art can't help you in-battle, it's cores.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/21/2015 2:48:16)

What's the point of just art?? If that was the whole big deal then why bring the change that let players use any weapon they like?? It's like life. You think you have choices, but you don't . Because everyone of them pretty much leads to the same fate in the end.

8x -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/21/2015 12:16:52)

Well, since ED is a dress-up game like AQW, I suppose that art plays even bigger role now.

Alkimos -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/21/2015 21:56:24)

Detonation (Bot Special): I understand a core like this is to combat the support abusers, but why must I pay for this to have an advantage. Just seems like a lazy way to skimp out on balance... You know like just tinkering with the scaling? Not impressed & not buying any of these cores.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: =ED= 18th of September - (9/22/2015 0:59:04)

@Alkimos:

Because in the future other stat abuse builds will probably come into power so this bot will serve multiple purposes as time passes. And support abuse builds aren't even broken so they don't need to fix the numbers, people just need to learn how to play against them. This bot right now is just like a way for people who haven't figured it out yet to have a chance at fighting them.
