A lot of bigger saga finales have been pretty amazing for me. Expecially when you were there to witness the story unfold quest by quest.
And wars on here at the forums are also a memorable thing. You guys (and gals) are great. Each and every one of you.

UltimateDoomKnight -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 16:07:39)

Throughout the Orb Saga I thought Drakonnan's Story was something memorable, not to mention the fight against Sepulchure and his master themselves!
In the Orb Saga, you lost a close friend, Celestia, and the darkness were very close to conquer lore. I'd say that Drakath made a mistake in
betraying Sepulchure, if he hadn't who knows if Sepulchure could have conquered the World. Just barely, we saved the World one time.

I like the Ash's story of becoming a Knight and how Xan came to be, those pranks to Warlic... Hahahaha! The Music to it when Alexander performed the pranks was hilarious.
But the one I Think is most touching is when you "lost" Tomix in the Book 3 Ravenloss finale with the battle against Aspar.
Then the final moment that I liked best with Dragonfable was when you fought Wargoth and saved the entire World once again.
It's fun to fight against powerful boss monsters, makes you know that you are powerful.
In Book 3, I wonder when Warlic will recover enough until he can join the Hero again to save the World.

ChronoEye -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 16:17:26)

Totally the most favorite moments ever began when Valtrith came in action. The birth of Caitiff when we lost the war 7 months ago, still makes me excited! [:D]

Aura Knight -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 16:21:19)

The entire Tomix saga was amazing. It not only added two amazing classes so far, but it had a story that rivaled even the main one. And even though the Tomix saga was a side story, it is to this day one of my favorites. The soulweaver classes are one of my favorites to use in game.

David the Wanderer -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 16:33:43)

I think my favourite moment of all the game is the epilogue of Book 1. That last piece of dialogue between Guardian Kain and the Hero... it felt perfect; a sombre, yet powerful, ending to all the struggles we had been through. It didn't make me stand up or yell, but it has cemented in my mind as the moment when old stories ended, and new ones begun.

I loved when the Hero told Galanoth they were a DragonLord. That dialogue was possibly one of DF's greatest pieces of comedy. [:D]

The final quest of the Vilmor Saga... I remember toggling to Hard Mode for the first time, just so I could enjoy beating Frostscythe a bit longer. Of all the villains, he is the one I loathe the most, because of the way he mistreats dragons, because he's the kind of person I hate (those who feel entitled to something without having ever done anything to earn it), and because of how easily he threw away the only true friend he had in favour of his pride. I remember throwing strategy away for that fight, and focusing on just dealing as much damage as possible.

The Darkness Orb saga remains my favourite saga, because I believe it reflects the game as a whole. A mix of funny and serious, of tragedy and comedy; friendship and rivalry, and it even had the first seeds of moral ambiguity. Is Vayle right to search for a way to bring her brother back through Necromancy? Is she just being stubborn, or could her experiments lead to a better world for everybody?

And obviously, the fight against Akriloth with the Ice Claymore... I think any DF player remembers that battle with fondness, as one of our greatest victories. It was a glorious battle, with an awesome background music, and it made me sit on the edge of my seat, excited for every move on the part of Great Fire Dragon...

My saddest moment remains Lady Celestia's death. There's not much I can say about it: that shot of her broken teacup and her still arm lying on the grass of Sunbreeze Grove... I stopped. I couldn't even realize that had actually happened. Even if she had a passive role in the story, I always saw Celestia as a mentor, a mother figure, the one person who could always be counted on to give everybody a word of advice and a nice cup of tea. Her death was like taking away a bit of the light of Lore. And right after the Guardian Tower, the symbol of hope and protection, of Falconreach itself, had been destroyed... It was a lot to take it. It felt truly hopeless. It seemed Sepulchure was winning.
But yet, that motivated me to fight much, much harder! It was personal! Winning this time wasn't just about defeating the baddies: it was about proving that, no matter how dark the night seems, dawn will always come to wash away the shadows. It was time to prove that Sepulchure couldn't break us, that the Heroes of Falconreach could never be defeated! And we did it! We won! We broke the war meter, even! That was DragonFable's greatest moment, in my opinion.

PyroPuppy -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 16:44:29)

The Tomix Saga is definitely one of my favorite quest chains in the game, but I guess that I can't really choose just one quest chain. They are chained together, and thanks to the amazing writing team, all provides different insight to Lore's universe and into the lives of the characters in DF.

The Dragesvard war as that moment gave me the idea of my character.

If not, it's certainly the Tomix saga.

Cheered pretty hard during the Xan war where we won with just one board left....so epic.

Varen6398 -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 17:11:45)

Ooh. My favourite moments? There are too many to count. :) This game has created so many brilliant stories that it's hard to just sum them up into one post. I'll just say some of them. :p

Without a doubt my most memorable moment is the moment that David has already covered; the epilogue of Chapter 1. We'd been working and slogging through the war and then fighting our way through the endless bad guys afterwards, and when we finally won it just felt so bittersweet. A brilliant way to end the longest running story arc of DF.

Another moment that stands out in my mind was discovering Drakonnan again in Chapter 2 (sorry, the Apprentice *cough*). Just seeing him again and hearing his theme in such a sad way was really a moment that made me feel bad. After all, even though he did all he did, he was tortured and lost all he loved.

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 17:12:33)

Getting the dragon egg.
Interacting with Neron.

DrakonDrago -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 17:20:19)

When Demento got killed by Drakonnan is a moment I will never and I say never forget[:(].

The Jop -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 17:25:23)

Tomix falling into the void core. [:(]

DrakonDrago -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 17:47:40)

The moment that Serenity soul got ripped apart and her body became Caitiff[:(].

Lord Noonien Soong -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 17:50:12)

I also found Serenity becoming Caitiff a moment I hope to gain justice for

Wizardlife -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 17:54:15)

I will not be forgetting the Tomix saga anytime soon, that's a given. And probably not the Valtrith saga, either. Both sagas hit me right with the feels. So emotional, dark and deep, and yet so well written. Absolutely unforgettable.

Scytherea -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 18:01:44)

1. The End of Ravenloss Saga, Book 3. Yes, we were mentally prepared that Tomix would no longer be around, but it struck a chord.
2. Every single moment spent with my dragon....particularly during the Sulen Eska storyline when we could connect telepathically- that was beautiful.
3. I am not sure whether this counts, but fighting the super hyped versions of Akriloth last year was awesome and I cannot wait for the seasonal quest to go live again. I loved the fact that we could invite other players- so many people shared their character ids on the forum and we worked together to build strategies to defeat the monster....well, I could not defeat it last year, but I hope to succeed this time!

I would want to say that all recent story lines in DF have been awesome in terms of art, animation and character development and it is really hard to choose one. But as some others have pointed out, even from the very beginning, from Book 1 itself, the characters and their stories have been really really engaging. The death of Lady Celestia, the heart-wrenching story of Drakonnan and even Xan are forever etched in my mind. And I so miss Cysero and Artix...they helped create a lot of beautiful memories too and I hope they will reappear sometime in the future.

TheRuinedShadow -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 18:03:21)

One of my absolute favorite moments in DF was the first fire war against Xan. He came to Falconreach, slowly overcame our defenses, and burned almost everything to the ground. The hero confronts Xan with a great speech, which has been apparently been lost to time, and defends the last board of Falconreach. It was also very memorable because no one could log in because everyone was trying to play the event. [:D]

I tried to recreate that scene, but it's not that great.

ShimmerSoul -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 18:14:42)

DF has basically been one huge constant epic moment since before I started playing. Naming single moments in all of that is...kinda tough.

- The Popsprocket War. When the Beacons of Hope were founded and the DF war community became a thing. It was a pretty standard war fought in what was (IMO) the weakest part of the orb saga, but it had such a huge impact on the game down the road that I can't ignore it.

- The Great Fire War. in general, but some key moments: Drakonnan's rise to power, Demento's death, the slaying of Akriloth (which itself helped lay the groundwork for book 3), and the birth of BattleOn. A gorgeous retelling of a pivotal moment in the history of AE.

- The finale of the story of Alexander. Special in that it not only shows Xan's villain origin story, but also Warlic's hero origin story. It alone made up for book 2's shortness.

- The Tomix Saga. all of it, but particularly the book 3 portion's ending. I really don't need to say anything else.

- Our victory in the Final 13th War. "Unleash Doom" indeed. After all our traveling around the world, fighting evil, reclaiming treasures, saving people. We finally won. Maybe we didn't save everyone, but the prophecy was fulfilled and the world as a whole was actually in pretty good shape, all things considered.
Not that it lasted very long, but still...

133spider -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 18:54:50)

The Necropolis was absolutely my most favorite saga of all time in DragonFable. The beginning and especially the ending with the final battle against Noxus were just so perfect for me in ways that I can't even put into words.

Baron Dante -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 18:55:41)

I think the game is full of amazing moments. As far as specific moments and parts in the story goes, I think most of the memorable parts are fairly common amongst players:
Pretty much all of Xan's story, all the way from the time when he was more or less just a crazy villain to when we really explored his past (So I guess you could rather say that it's the story of the three individuals that trained at Swordhaven ages back)
Vaal. Vaal still stands out as an incredibly well executed character to me, but I don't think I'll ever forget the times when we just had the few cutscenes of his characterization and some people on the forums used that to glorify him way beyond what any character should reasonably have (They were right, of course)
The Water Orb Saga is still a unique experience, and fairly memorable at that.
The book 1 finale in general is probably somewhere there, especially the cutscene and the music from the first battle against Dragon Drakath
The last one would be Vilmor. For me, the fact that she was kind of a homage to the Metroid series was something interesting to see unfold, since the series was still fairly fresh in my mind back then. (Still waiting for her to come back fighting pirates with a void dragon leading the bunch, just saying)

In addition to these, I think there's a few specific dates that I have in my mind, and they're specifically something only really relevant to me. (If these dates were relevant to other people, they'd probably have different reasons for that)
The first one is October 25th 2012. That was the day we saw a spoiler pic of the new MOP recruits of the years, without knowing who they are. Those 24 hours before the release confirmed who these people were was... something. I'm not the kind of person that overthinks stuff like new releases or anything, and even if I did, I certainly wouldn't let that show. But when I saw the image there it immediately kind hit me that there's an incredibly handsome guy standing there. I probably downplayed how I felt about the inclusion of The Baron back then, but I legitimately couldn't sleep that night just thinking that whole thing through. That's probably the first and last time that'll ever happen.
And the second one is... May 29th 2015. Now, this is something absolutely no one but me would (should?) really care about. This was the very last day I'd ever touch the abomination that is Super Infernal Wargoth. I spent nearly 3 years trying to pull it off, trying more and more new things that could get the fight done with, until I found the true secret of Sepulchure's power. Seaweed and Hardtack. I'm not sure if a fistpump can be put on par with "standing up and being loud", but it's probably the best you'll get from me.

So there we have it, I guess. Since my memory is roughly the equivalent of that of a goldfish, I probably forgot a handful of stuff here.

Emrys -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 19:07:42)

Maybe it's the mogloween spirit, but I think one of the best moments in the game is when Bubble became human again. To me, it showed what DF can really do, and that is create incredible characters and incredible stories that we get really attached to and really care about. We had known Bubble for seven years and for her to finally become human again was just amazing.

Of course, there are countless other incredibly memorable and awesome moments must be recognized, but I think it's the personal moments like Bubble's, Tomix's, and Serenity's (I focused on Bubble here because it's the one that didn't make me sad) that really show how amazing DF is. When I told my brother, who hasn't played for about five years, about what happened to those three characters, he completely freaked out and got as excited or upset as I was. Five years later and these characters' stories still resonated so much with him.

Occavatra -> RE: =DF= October 21, Design Notes: Greatest Moments (10/21/2015 19:57:29)

My favorite moment in DragonFable was incredible. It was also the most memorable because it marked the end of the Elemental Orb Saga and when the game took a new turn. I loved the Final 13th event and I still remember it like it was yesterday. The deaths of Lady Celestia and a couple other people was truly tragic and it was the first time I witnessed a death that made a huge impact on the DF storyline. Every week, over the late spring and summer, I pondered about what will happen next while everything we worked hard for fell apart so fast, thanks to Seppy's spies. Finally, the fight for the light
spoiler:

with the help of a little bit of bacon
was the most intense and heavy boss fight I ever encountered. It showed me that there is always a spark of light in absolute darkness. In my opinion, no other quest chain could match Book 1's Finale in terms of knowing that the past is gone and the future is now. Here's to ten more years of DragonFable!!!
