Thanks Kiyone, ruthless indeed and I wouldn't have it any other way. :D I'll be sure to stick around to witness the winner and cheer Jop on. quote:
@Tuga Well, let me just summarize it for you. First battle TFP went first and used chain lightning and energize when he had 14 energy. Then he charged and the next turn I think was when he had that supercharged attack that finished me off. Next two battles he used electric arc and chain lightning more, and the only big combo I remember was about 3000 damage. Through luck I was able to use healing spring several times and I won the last two battles with less than 1000 health. This is fairly accurate except for the Healing Springs, as in game 1 there wasn't time to use them and in games 2 and 3 you'd switched to Void Mage, executing the exact sequence of moves necessary each time to finish me in 9 turns. Abyssal Priest generally takes 9-10 turns to win (except against especially defensive characters). In game 2 I was defeated on Jop's 9th turn before my 9th, and in game 3 I was defeated on Jop's 9th turn before my 10th. Both times this was the sequence Jop's Void Mage executed. Charge to 19 (takes 4 turns) Turn 5: Poison x2 (12 energy/24 total) Turn 6: Draw hand 2 (17 energy/29 total) Turn 7: Mark of Death x2 (10 energy/34 total) Turn 8: Draw hand 3 (15 energy/39 total) Turn 9: 3-hit combo converting 15 energy for around 1650 damage (possibly including Neutral attack) Poison (4-hits) x2 = 2400 Mark of Death x2 = 1800 3-hit combo (likely including a Neutral attack) = 1650 =5850 (+100-200 of CC bonus damage) I don't remember my moves quite as well because they weren't branded by trauma, but I know I used a Defend in each of my losses, so this would've been just enough to win for Jop to win (5850/5800). Now, had the Marks come on turn 5 and the Poisons come on turn 7, this figure would've been significantly reduced: Poison (2-hits) x2 = 1200 Mark of Death x2 = 1800 3-hit combo = 1650 = 4650/5800 Or had Jop drawn 1 Poison in his first hand and 1 in his second: Poison (4-hits) x1 = 1200 Poison (2-hits) x1 = 600 Mark of Death x2 = 1800 3-hit combo = 1650 = 5250/5800, not enough. For Jop to have been able to draw 2 Poisons, then 2 Marks, then 3 attacks in the correct sequence I thought was something of a fluke after game 2 and that even if it happened on game 3 I'd be a turn faster, but it did and I was still a turn too slow. Though with CC's and because Jop could have discarded at 10 to add the Poisons to his hand by turn 4 with 18 charge if he finished me with a Neutral attack involved in his final combo, the odds of it happening again probably weren't as low as I though. It was basically Deja Vu, and in neither game 2 nor 3 did I draw SuperCharge until my last turn before Jop killed me. Had Jop used Void Reflection at all, I likely would have been able to win because of the compromise to his offence buying me time. Had I used Skexis or Void Rebirth, there would've been a chance of my not being able to draw Neutralize -> Iron Hide, as happened in one of my duels against Lack of Fear and I felt the chance of that happening and resulting in a loss was greater than Abyssal Priest losing with the first turn, as that simply hadn't in any testing/matches I'd used it in. So this result was in no way a result of my holding back, and the defeat was absolute and honestly a shock for me. Very good games, Jop, and win your next match so you can get some SG's at last. :)
