If you are unaware of what I'm talking about, AQ3D plans to have a level scaling system.
i.e if you're level 50, going to a level 1 area you are scaled down to level 1 so you don't one-hit bosses.

I think it's a good idea but I realized this function is already in GuildWars2 and WildStar.

Looking at them, I noticed
Wildstar has a more organized version.
GuildWars 2's version made leveling unnecessary.

Wildstar has Mentoring which brings you down to someone else' level and Rallying which brings the party up to the necessary level required to complete a dungeon.

GuildWars 2 has what i'll call Automatic, which basically pulls you down or up to the level of that area, along with your stats and power for PvE. In PvP you and your opponent become equally leveled, so a level 1 player can be on the same field of battle as a level 80.

AQ3D's scaling idea is sounding a lot like GuildWar 2', but the difference is, AQ3D is a social MMO with instant teleporting to any area and potentially classes that can do everything from heal, to attack, to defend.

So no matter what, your level going down or up won't matter if your friend or opponent has a better class than you.

Then there's also the problem of lower-levels entering areas that are important to the story but not doing the story in the first place, which is what helped boost the cosmetic ego situation that is happening at the moment in AQW.

What are your opinions on this?

Do you think it's a good idea? (PROS and CONS)
Is there any way to improve it?
Do you have a better idea for this type of system?

DISCUSS!

I feel like..
i'm the only one who actually remembers stuff right now.

Play with friends who are not your level.
Automatic "side-kicking" will boost your friend's level so they can play with you in dangerous places they could not go alone.

"Hiya, Jimmy. I know you are only level 1, but I really need your help taking down this level 75 Ultra Dragon... um, got your phone?"

(Silver Sky Magician) Question: What sets AQ3D apart from the likes of Runescape, or other 3D F2P MMOs?

(AQ3D Tester) Answer: Primary differences between AQ3D and other MMOs like it range from:

• The ability to jump into the game anytime and anywhere to play with your friends through the "Sidekick" system. Temporarily teleport to and scale up to your friend's level in order to help them in-game! (Note: You can still adventure around the world with your friends anytime without the sidekick system as well, the key is that with the sidekick system you can scale to their level.)

From these quotes, it is pretty clear you don't scale to area level, but can temporarily scale to the level of a friend to help them in harder fights. You won't scale down, and this function may not even be automatic.

you do scale down, that level 75 thing was an example..
artix said in an interview he plans to add the area scaling thing so higher-levels don't 1hit bosses.

Hey guys I gotta question about the buffs. Do you think it just temporarily add on an amount of points to each category (like attack, health, crit etc.) until you hit a minimum, or will it tack on a fixed amount of points based on you r lvl?
