LyRein -> Level Scaling (12/22/2015 14:33:06)

If you are unaware of what I'm talking about, AQ3D plans to have a level scaling system. i.e if you're level 50, going to a level 1 area you are scaled down to level 1 so you don't one-hit bosses. I think it's a good idea but I realized this function is already in GuildWars2 and WildStar. Looking at them, I noticed Wildstar has a more organized version. GuildWars 2's version made leveling unnecessary. Wildstar has Mentoring which brings you down to someone else' level and Rallying which brings the party up to the necessary level required to complete a dungeon. GuildWars 2 has what i'll call Automatic, which basically pulls you down or up to the level of that area, along with your stats and power for PvE. In PvP you and your opponent become equally leveled, so a level 1 player can be on the same field of battle as a level 80. AQ3D's scaling idea is sounding a lot like GuildWar 2', but the difference is, AQ3D is a social MMO with instant teleporting to any area and potentially classes that can do everything from heal, to attack, to defend. So no matter what, your level going down or up won't matter if your friend or opponent has a better class than you. Then there's also the problem of lower-levels entering areas that are important to the story but not doing the story in the first place, which is what helped boost the cosmetic ego situation that is happening at the moment in AQW. What are your opinions on this? Do you think it's a good idea? (PROS and CONS) Is there any way to improve it? Do you have a better idea for this type of system? DISCUSS!
