Power Holiday
[image]http://cms.battleon.com/ed/images/EpicDuelHolidayPowerWeekend12-28-2014-dns.jpg[/image]
The holiday festivities are upon us once again, and we want to ensure the holiday cheer is thoroughly spread throughout Delta V. To that end, we're keeping the gifting spirit going with a 4-day Power Weekend (starts midnight EST). Get Double XP and Credits from Thursday December 24th to the end of Sunday December 27th.

So far this year's gifting event has BLOWN AWAY our expectations. It looks like RomanianSanta is eager to spread holiday cheer (and snag my Alpha Gear)!

Be sure to check the #edcodes and #edgifting tags on Twitter to find the most popular rooms for gifting!

Gifts? What Gifts?
Remember, your gifts won't get better if you wait to open them. In fact, they'll expire 60 days after you receive them! There's not reason to hoard them so why wait? There's not even any gift wrapping to dispose or impossible-to-open plastic cases to rip through! These gifts are 100% eco-friendly!

Where BioBeasts?
[image]http://cms.battleon.com/ed/images/yeti_sketches_small-DN.jpg[/image]
BioBeasts is still moving forward at full speed. New builds have been pushed out to testers to tear apart over the holidays, though not many bugs have been reported at this time. We would love to have released before Christmas, but Apple completely closes it's submission process on the 22nd. Since it can take up to 2 weeks for approval of a final submission, a pre-holiday launch was impossible. The Android version is nearly ready, but we feel a simultaneous launch is the best way to maximize our marketing reach, rather than split attention between 2 versions of the game.

We'd like to extend our thanks to our hundreds of Beta testers who have helped make BioBeasts one of the most stable and polished mobile games released by Artix Entertainment!

No word about field medic? The skill costed 140 energy at lvl 1 a few days ago. What happened??

Lord Machaar -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/23/2015 17:28:41)

Last year's gifting event was better, content-wise and player-wise.
This year's gifting event is better, money-wise, for AE ofcourse.

I hope devs are planning some mission chains for next week to suck the stress and pressure out of the servers, players are basically just waiting all day, begging for gifts. Maybe a couple of mission chains here and there that require some PVP battles would change the routine, as putting the pressure of the whole year on 1 single event is kinda bad, and you can see that through twitter discussions.

Satafou -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/23/2015 19:53:04)

Actually there was way more gifting last year, alot of the big spenders from last year haven't gifted at all this time. Aswell as the fact that although there is more people on than usual, last year there was still more players online and therefore a much higher probability of more people in general gifting.

Thylek Shran -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/26/2015 0:02:13)

Last year alot more players gifted for small ammounts and this
year its concentrated on a few very rich gifters. Its a mirror of
real life. The rich get more rich and the poor more poor.

Nobody would do mission chains during the gifting event as gifts
outclass just everything in ED. The only cure is a revamped
gifting system
. The server wide lag during gift rains is also
horrible. Most people do not realize how game breaking gifts are.
Even not the devs as im sure that alot players do leave ED during
this event as hunting gifts is so annoying and boring. The players
are now more active on Twitter than in ED ! [>:]

Darkwing -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 6:11:19)

Bad things about gifting:

- YOU CAN'T BATTLE! You just have to stay there afk and wait for someone to gift. boriiiiiiing

- Gifting is limited to 130 people. So if a guy wants to gift 1000 gifts, then the same 130 peeps will get the 1000 gifts, BEcause no way they will leave the room and gifts are limited for that room/world only.

- Gifting had made some toxic community. Half ask for gifts, half Bash those for asking.

axell5 -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 7:04:19)

@above So in other words, gifting resembles real life: All want free stuff. People are toxic. Nobody will let the next one get something for free when he can get it. People who know the rich(gifters) almost always get there.
Also, you don't need to afk in a room when there is twitter. I personaly either 1v1 for the huge 1v1 missions or farm big tuna for the double xp boost and arrive when someone gifts. Now, you might say that that way i can't get to all gifting events. Nobody can and i win by doing something over those who just afk.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 7:10:45)

I do think the gifting system should be revamped to promote PvP and community interaction instead of becoming a rage-inducing event. Perhaps each gift could be given to a random, say, 125 people on the server regardless of where they are or what world they are in (note: I don't know if it's feasible to code something like this).

The berserker killer -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 11:27:21)

No ones asking you to go for gifts....you guys go to the selected area for gifts because you want to. It's not your right to be gifted to? If I want to gift 30k to 5 people, which I have done, then I can. By implementing the above suggestions you guys are basically saying that doing things like that are wrong.

Personally I don't like gifting to everyone. Not only do I get beggars asking me every day about when gifts will be but people treat me differently so I would like for the gifting system to stay the same. If anything we should be able to send gifts to people on our buddy list via mail for a fraction of the gifting price (currently 395 var).

Lord Machaar -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 11:35:52)

^ Except it is game breaking. Best example, endless armor.
If a small minority is getting rich, I'm not against it, I myself have gotten enough gifts thanks to the good friends in my buddy list. But then we must stop acting selfish and arrogant, otherwise the game will be over as soon as the gifting event is over. Having a small rich minority resulted in items that are sold for 250k credits, unlock shops that offer OP cores and whatnot. 250k credits for some players is absolutely nothing, but for those who rarely participate in gifting events, and even in worst cases, to new players, it is not easily obtainable, if not, impossible.

My idea is, I don't really have problem with players getting absurdly rich, 2 million or 10 million credits, but then this shouldn't affect item prices in general. A simple solution would be calculating items based on how much credits you have.

Sure credits inflation is a huge problem, but it's unfair for uninvolved players to pay its price. A small minority getting absurdly rich, all good, but devs, in the future, should not make absurdly expensive items just for the sake of a minority, it's just the legendary system all over again. Otherwise, the devs are slowly killing the game, by killing the hope of new players to be competitive in battle, I bring the endless shop example once again.

The berserker killer -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 11:47:28)

Then maybe the problem isn't with players gifting but the devs making these absurdly expensive items.

My problem is that everyone feels like theyre entitled to something that they're not, and when they can't access it they beg for changes. When I suggested the legendary bosses I specifically said "Only a small amount of players would be able to beat them, this way they could brag about it". Next thing you know it's implemented and everyone complains and begs for a nerf because they cant beat them EVEN THOUGH:

1) he's not required for a mission
2) The cheevos are option
3) You're not entitled to it

Too many whiners now, and that's whats really killing this game. They want to be apart of everything and into everything without putting in any time or effort.

Mother1 -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 12:09:55)

@ TBK

That last part was true until they made the legendary GOW. beating him is a requirement for a mission.

But as for the first part here is the simple answer. Everyone wants something for nothing it is human nature. Even if prices weren't inflated people would still want to get all the free stuff they can get without doing much in return.

It was the same way when the staff used to give out the codes that had ultra rare items. Remember the bounty pistol incident in delta? Prime example right there because the moment it went in everyone complained about how unfair it was they couldn't get it and every time an ultra rare item came people would come up with every excuse in the book when the real reason was "They felt everyone should get it" when the developers weren't having it.

Eventually it got to the point where they said enough is enough and just stopped due to whiners.

My point? Everyone wants free stuff and if they can't get it oh there will be flames of fury because of it.

The berserker killer -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 12:57:31)

They made him a requirement? that's stupid

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 14:33:50)

@Ghost God that's the main reason I haven't even started the event because I'm not going to even bother attempting LGoW.

@Machaar the vast majority of high priced items are cosmetic morphs and coreless items so they offer no advantage. Endless armor can be unlocked through a little NPC farming for void essence and just doing the missions for credits. Without the use of gifting you should have this armor well before level forty because if you gear yourself properly, not buying a ton of gear for looks, you end up making credits hand over fist

The berserker killer -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 15:33:37)

Well overpriced items aren't necessarily the problem. Devs and players have to realized that everyone isn't entitled to every feature as long as Devs keep certain content from hindering the players progression in the game.

As far as im concerned, missions don't affect the players progression in the game (it would be nice if you guys limited or stopped making Legendary bosses requirements for missions though). Nor does gifting affect the players progression in the game. So, as far as I can see, the only thing wrong with gifting is that players think theyre entitled to something theyre not

Satafou -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/27/2015 19:12:49)

You're not incorrect about the amass of players who deem themselves entitled to the gifts of other players expenses. The very same could be said about fame, how ironically non-famous players who haven't even accomplished a feat of any kind expect and even demand people to fame them back despite them not being famous or remotely well known. The issue isn't necessary due to the way these features are designed but perhaps it's more of a player error.

100k Credits is still not easily obtainable. Plus now you see alts, level 1 - 20, having the endless armor. Tons of them. Therefore you are basically telling any new player joining the game, it's okay, you will get it at level 40. You only need to pass 40 levels without some OP cores.

I just hope nothing crazily OPed gets introduced for a crazy amount of credits, just because a small minority in a short period of time got tons of credits. I agree that cosmetic items should obey to that rule, but only cosmetics, nothing else. Endless shop was a huge mistake. But I can state more examples. Each weapon from the Frozen fury set is now sold for almost 60k credits, and once again, you will see low level alts, in fact tons of them having the set. Now some might say that these were once sold for varium and they should cost a lot. Yet why Blood Hawk, which is also a promo pack, all of its items are sold for 35k credits (blood hawk bot for 45k credits). So don't state that gifting event doesn't have an impact over the game's balance. It does. Badly.

In the end, ED won't be able to function with the small minority. Gifting is way too concentrated, I'm sure that if more and more players could get the gifts, this will result in many more players continuing to play after this event. But this isn't sadly the case.
If we want ED to persist, we must let go a little bit of our selfishness and greediness. When I say greediness, I say both on the players side, and also devs' side. Sure this gifting event pomped some $$, enough to fund Biobeasts. But then you are ruining the game for it. Unless this is the plan to make 2015 the last year of ED. Because I'm really not sure if anyone is going to play after the gifting event is over.

It is too late now to say this, only 10 - 11 days left, and it's the holidays, so practically no one is working, devs included. Thus why they did implement this system:
1- 1 month of no updates. Players have nothing to complain about. Which will leave enough time also for Biobeasts.
2- Huge amount of funds to support Biobeasts.
So I guess giving suggestions now to "revamp" how gifting works is useless. And I doubt a gifting event in 2016 will occur, and even if there will be, doubt anyone would be playing ED. The only feasible thing now is to avoid any upcoming special shops for tons of credits.That's the only solution to limit the bad influence of gifting over the game.

Darkwing -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/28/2015 9:09:59)

I do have a bone to pick with gifting as long as it affects us all, not just the guy that got the gift.

You are delusional if you think I will accept to play a game that forces me to pvp a long time just to get a armpor that does help in PVP, and some afk in a room and get some gifts to buy it.

And arcade plus npc drops doesnt work. Its luck based. I'm in the top 12 in frysteland arcade and last time I got a gold prize from it was 1 year ago.

Gifting makes competition harder, it affects us too.

The berserker killer -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/28/2015 12:37:05)

then why not make sugegstions for credits if credits is the problem guys?

Like killstreak rewards that give you an extra +20 credits and +5 xp for each win above the first one? I mean this beats complaining

Mother1 -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/28/2015 14:23:27)

The reason they inflated prices was because gifting itself made it where anyone (assuming they got massive amounts of gifts) could get rich extremely quick. If I get a huge amount of credits in a short period of time, why would I buy Varium which is supposed to be a short cut? Had they left the prices the same varium sells after the event would have taken a nosedive due to this, and that is less money in their pockets.

That was why they made the credit sink cheevos, and inflated prices. Does it stink for those who can't get the gifts? yes it does, however it is either

A) make prices higher to burn of the extra credits people get from gifting or

B) leave it as is and have those who are extremely rich not buy varium due to the fact they have massive credits and lose real money.

But on another note I couldn't support gifts going randomly to players either seeing as it is the gifters who spend their money to give gifts. They have every right to gift who they want to gift it is that simple.

As pointed out the problem here is everyone wants free stuff for nothing it is that simple. It was like this when the staff gave out ultra rare items Viva price code (anyone who was reading the forums when these items were given and the massive complaint threads back then as well as on twitter would know this) Even when the staff themselves mentioned that the codes were first come first serve! It is the same with gifting if people try to gather a group to get the most bang for their buck.

Darkwing -> RE: December 23, 2015 - Power Holiday (12/30/2015 6:56:18)

At least if they made gifting like arcade. Most of the time you get bronze prizes that sell for 20 credits.

And the problem is that you can buy anything with credits( except the most new promo and small exception of cosmetic items). Atl east if it was like in the past when you had a special token only used for achievements, so you limit the amount of things you can buy with it.

The gifting feature is bad build because a level 1 can wake up with millions of credits and a level 40 with amounts nothing compared to that.
