Digital X -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (3/11/2017 18:09:39)

DIS: Preordered a GTX 1080ti as the image shown was the graphics card with a custom cooler, it was in fact a reference design..
ACC: One of the staff members said those that pre ordered the card (at a cost of £689) would recieve the ACTUAL product shown (costing £760) for FREE, so a big upgrade and big grin :)

SonicTbear -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (3/25/2017 15:08:36)

ACC: Switched to AT&T.

Digital X -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (4/18/2017 15:50:50)

ACC: Won a copy of DiRT 4 for PC from Gamesplanet's Spring Sale Contest!

Superemo -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (4/21/2017 0:55:47)

ACC: Effectively cemented a manager position. It'll be for overnights, which works by me. Apparently, we've needed a manager for overnights for a while, but didn't have the position open for it.

Digital X -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (4/22/2017 8:00:28)

ACC: 1080ti arrived and installed, running cooler than my old 980ti, win win!

Superemo -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (5/20/2017 16:53:14)

ACC: Got a FiiO X5 gen 3.
ACC: The sound quality on this thing is insane.
ACC: Apparently, it also doubles as an Android tablet, complete with wi-fi and Bluetooth compatibility.
ACC: The only complaint I have with it is that one of the two cases it came with covers the edges of the screen.

Chaosweaver Amon -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (5/22/2017 13:13:29)

ACC: Got out of a really negative relationship that lasted far too long.
ACC: Got a great summer job worked out that should hold me over for a while next school year.

Digital X -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (5/29/2017 11:01:43)

ACC: Found a buyer for my old GTX 980ti, £200 which is.. alright, best I'm gonna get now it's 2 years old.
DIS: Gotta post it to Northern Ireland, I am in England. Could be pricey.

Edit:

ACC: Buyer has the card, was pleased by how it was packaged and all is well.
ACC: Finally managed after months to get a blood test to find out what on earth is going on my health this past 6 months.
DIS: Even at my age I am petrified of needles, but it had to be done.

DIS: Constant nausea, dizzyness/light headed and digestive issues for 6 months. Constant.

This is not fun and the blood test is my last hope now.

Update:

ACC: Got results, after 6 months + today.. It is my kidneys. Just need more leafy greens, more vitamins and more water. Basically am poisoning myself atm.

weatherseed -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (6/12/2017 22:34:53)

DIS: Lost another cat. First died in November suddenly. Goodbye, Slava.

10inchesjedi -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (6/17/2017 10:12:49)

Feeling Digital X's pain. Not my kidneys, but a few years ago, my lungs were in such a poor state that I could barely run for a minute. Getting fat didn't help either. All better now though, and not fat.

Dis:
I like coming back here once in a while. I joined the forum ten years ago, I was 14. I spent most of my adolescence here to be honest. The people here helped me through some tough times. Made some good friends that I don't talk to as much as I did before. Coming here reminds me how far I've come in life since I joined. Finishing middle school, getting through high school and having some of the best time of my life, dating the girl that I cried and posted so much about in the previous generations of this thread. Breaking up with her. Finding new love. Losing said love. College. Graduating with a Physics BSc. I can't remember his username, but there was someone here that was an important factor on that choice.
Now I'm finishing my MSc. Going to turn in my thesis in September. Nanorobotics for cancer treatment.
Just writing this post makes me remember everything that I had, that I lost and that I want to achieve.

Still... Every time I come back, I notice that the forum is... Dead. That saddens me more than it should.

Had good times here. Awesome times. The Battle Royale threads. A new thread every minute. Meet the Archknight. And so much more... In retrospective, the internet made me meet some awesome people. Mainly forums.

But online forums are dying and I can't help but feel that a part of my adolescence dies with them.

Enough with the rant, thanks for reading.

Digital X -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (7/8/2017 9:31:26)

ACC: Finally found a PAL copy of Vib Ribbon for PS1, at £25.
DIS: My PS1 game shelf is full at only 72 games..

Iriad -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (7/13/2017 10:33:20)

@10inchesjedi I feel you. Had some of the best times on AE in general and it was always my break from reality when I needed it most. Sad to see fantastic people come and go here and yet you can't just let go of this place and all the memories here.

ACC: Military discharge in the earlier part of this year after what felt like an eternity
ACC: Looking forward to starting university in less than 2 months in a different country
DIS: Probably won't have much of a life once term starts.

Digital X -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (1/28/2018 16:56:01)

ACC: Had a great birthday, as usual I got socks!
ACC: Taken up 3DS Max, and have made several models for the Spintires game!

10inchesjedi -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (3/25/2018 16:57:16)

Acc:
Since I've always used this thread to dump the developments of my love life like a teenager's journal, here comes the latest news.
Last year I met a girl, the friend of a friend. We barely said hello to each other on that day. The time passed and I couldn't stop thinking about a way to see her again, there was just something about her that I couldn't quite grasp but still poked my curiosity.
A couple of weeks ago I went to meet our mutual friend for a cup of coffee. And there she was. The day after we went together to see a movie. And the next week, another movie and theater. This week we kissed. Who would say that A Shape of Water creates a good mood?
And I'm just so happy for being with someone, for being with her. The last years, ever since I entered university, I've been disappointed with relationships. People would simply bore me.
Yet, I barely know her and I feel like I've been with her forever.

This is really heartwarming and melancholy to hear. We never spoke much if at all but I remember you from those days, and it's beautiful to see the progress you're making.

Dis: Like you, I've been steadily checking in on this place over the last few years. Thankfully, I still keep in contact with some of the people from here. Still, there's a lot of positive memories I've made here, and it was greatly formative in my development from adolescence through high school. I find myself frantically looking for records of old writing or art I did with my friends here. It was a really special time that I didn't value enough then, and something that as my life has begun to progress and grow more serious I've really missed.

Acc: Since this time, and a stint where life had really gone into a rut, I've met and married the love of my life and we're expecting our first child. College is still a ways away from being complete, but I never expected to even be attending at all. Life's really twisted and grown in ways I would have never expected, and maybe that's causing me to reflect on this place, and what a big impact it was on my life, to this extent.

ShadowMoon -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (7/2/2018 18:01:40)

Digital X -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (8/20/2018 16:37:43)

ACC: Treated myself to "Serum" for FL Studio.
DIS: It's very complex and will take a long time to learn.

Womba -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (8/22/2018 21:29:03)

Acc(?): I don't reminisce much. Never cared to think about the past. But I had a passing thought recently about AE (and the forums especially). The tl;dr of it was just me telling myself how grateful I should be, growing up with all this. Wouldn't have the sense of humor or some other qualities I do today without this. Makes me a bit misty eyed. Even though I've personally distanced myself more than I feel I should, I can't say I'll ever forget how much I grew as a person and how much time I spent here.

Dis: I haven't been playing any of the AE games for a while now. I probably won't play it anyways, but I'll have to consider putting Dragonfable back on my list of things to play.

Dis: I strongly dislike reminiscing. Just isn't very good to live in the past. Remembering it, yes, that's wise. But being stuck in it? Nah. Not healthy.

sleddyboy3 -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (9/9/2018 18:52:30)

DIS: I accidentally spent $30 by not being careful about which tier/domain I picked when setting up my AWS Elasticsearch cluster. At $0.151 an hour, I don’t notice until about a week later [&:]

DIS: I really want to get a Nintendo Switch. Logically, I should wait until Black Friday. In my heart, I know that Mario Odyssey can’t wait. It’s tearing me apart.

ACC: You guys are all awesome. I remember so many names here, and I’m so thankful for you all helping me to become the person I am. I truly wish you lul the best in everything.

EDIT 10/03/2018:

DIS: Probably just failed 3 coding challenges for companies I wanted to interview for...

Lord Noonien Soong -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (10/9/2018 11:34:07)

ACC: Graduated, "yay", I guess.

ACC: Got the certs I need for my job.

DIS: Sent out a resume to a few companies, no response yet.

???: Cannot wait for this year to end. Financially and Academically it was great, but other than that everything else went down the toilet. [8|]

fabri17 -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (10/9/2018 12:51:32)

Regardless, congrats Noon ^^

UnderSoul -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (10/23/2018 22:17:06)

ACC: I have not only returned to my beloved first online community, I've returned with the confidence to update y'all on the buggest development since I was last active: I am girl now.

10inchesjedi -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (11/27/2018 17:42:40)

FINALLY ACC: Successfully defended my Master thesis last week! Got an 18 out of 20! You can all call me Master now... And I guess I'm officially a physicist now?

ACC: The last few days I've regained something I barely felt during the actual courses, I've been feeling excited about working in research and actually doing physics. During the last six years, I felt as if I was being stubborn with myself for not changing degrees. But now I know I was in the right path. How do I know that? I felt the same frustration I did as before for not having a higher grade. I actually cared about it. That little spark that made me choose Physics seven years ago, came back while I presented my work. Even when I was being questioned, I felt proud. I felt like myself again...

ACC: The room was full for my defense. Even teachers came to watch. Of course my supervisor was late, but what else is new. The rest were friends and some people I didn't even know. Finishing this part of my life and being able to have a room full of people that cared and/or were interested in my work was amazing.

ACC: I think I found my ikigai. I was right in 2011.

Lord Noonien Soong -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (11/27/2018 20:39:49)

Congrats, jedi!

you stop -> RE: Life (Dis)Accomplishments Thread (11/29/2018 4:39:58)

???: Stumbled upon this glorious side of the forums. Hi my name is you stop

ACC: Went back to uni after about a year and a half of Major Depressive Disorder (it was that bad, you couldnt even get me out of my bed. I once stopped seeing the sun for about 5 months straight excluding whenever I bought food, which was night time)

DIS: Laptop still old as. It's beginning to freeze and whatnot. I should really get it replaced.
ACC: Yea I guess watching myself type that made me find a new motivation to live through tomorrow? My psychiatrist said that I should always make goals, even small ones. I mean a laptop isn't a small goal since I'm poor but finding motivation to even save up for one is a good start. Yay

ACC: 2 new puppies. One's a Shih Tzu x Poodle halfbreed and the other is a Beagle. Their names are Kina (fem) and Cacio (male) respectively.
DIS: Cleaning dog poop is a massive pain.
