I have a couple ideas for EpicDuel that may be both profitable and exciting. It's an event suggestion, for a 10th anniversary there should be something exciting and fun to celebrate it, so my first idea is to open up a separate paid server that allows us to play the old versions of EpicDuel and I bet a huge amount of players would want to experience the fun they had from years ago or to the new players who heard so much about it but could never understand what was so fun. It'll be even better if you could login there with a current character and you don't lose anything. However if it's not that good of an idea then perhaps make a one month one time edition only for a huge event of a 10th anniversary, open up all the shops, bring back all the items from each promo offers and everything dated back 10 years ago, have at least more than 200+ items in stock and restock everyday or every 48 hours to give everyone a chance to get some items they wish to have. I'm sure this would be profitable because I know for sure I would want to buy every single of the rare items from years ago which I couldn't get, and to make sure it might be profitable you can pull up a survey or a poll for all EpicDuel players on social media or in game (for some who don't associate with other websites) the poll should determine if players would consider participating in such event and if they would pay for either of above ideas. I just really want something huge and exciting happen to EpicDuel, I've come to like this game a lot and it's getting quiet, so I really want to help get it up again. Thank you for your time!

As everybody, I would really like to back to the gold days, but it won't happen. It's very hard to make a server with all the old items, its's a really hard work.
You are suggesting it like if you could do it just pressing a buttom.
Dont missunderstand me, I would really like to back to the old ed at least for some days but it's just impossible.

Btw 1 thing that I wont support is giving again all the rare items.
All those rare items will lose their value, old players will get mad about that and I dont like the idea of giving items back. If you missed them bad luck, I also would like to have the founder armor, but I missed it. Is gone.

@Racing
If I'm not mistaken, Devs keep a copy of every game release they've done.
While its not clicking a button, it should be a lot easier than really hard work.

But they aren't going to do this for other reasons.

This same idea of "server roll back" has been suggested before. (Not sure if late delta or early Omega)
Where a bunch of players asked for a separate server with the Beta/Gamma version of the game.

Oh didn't know that.
But the truth is that they are not going to do that.

@goldslayer1 deves delete most of old things from servers to prevent servers lag and make space for new releases

@katiethegreat I will say nothing but flash limitation and devs said a no no to this FSI

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: ♦Profitable idea♦ (2/13/2016 8:59:37)

The short answer is it won't work and it would be a PR nightmare.

The long answer is the server code would not be compatible with really old builds for EpicDuel even if there was a backup that dates that far back so for an event a whole new build of the game and server system would have to be created. Also as everyone has said in many of the topics suggesting the return of old rares you would anger a lot of people who have those rares already just like it angered people when the bunnyzookas were accidentally flagged on seasonal.

Re-releasing an older phase of a game is a doable thing. RuneScape, for instance, has an old school version of it, the thing is, it not created by the original developpers of the game. But in general, this means, re-releasing an older phase of any game is totally doable. The question is, is it worth it?
For RS, totally. But for ED? Only few can answer this question, and those few are those who actually played the game in its earlier phases, not those who only hear from some veterans, ED was such a hit, ED was great, and etc.. but to be honest, in the past, ED had its problems, a lot actually. For me personally, there are 2 hypotheses:
- An older version is restored taking 0 effort from the devs, which means this wouldn't affect the usual developpement of the actual ED.
- An older version is restored by devs and given to players to work on it. Ofcourse if devs agree to do so. The players then can create a new website and launch the classic ED on it. Why so? Because I doubt the devs would spend cash on a new server, plus, ofcourse, engine limitations. Classic ED used to work on a different engine.

All in all, I do not have a problem with re-releasing an older version of ED, but I assure you that classic ED had tons of troubles, from balance problems to engine limitations, hence why it was primordial to change to a different engine, taking A LOT of programmers' time (Titan and Rabblefroth) to re-write Tons and Tons of codes. I don't think they woke up one day, and decided to do so. If the classic ED is going to be for nostalgic purposes only, it wouldn't impose many problems, but if players decide to actually play it, well, it's here where the problem lies. The game would need a dedicated testing team to balance it, a thing devs won't do, and hence why I suggested the transfer of this ED version to players to work on it.

As for the second suggestion, and as OWA explained, you can already see how much players were butthurt about the egg zooka, me included. So I don't think many will like it, as tons of cash was paid such exculsive items that were promised to never go back. I do however support a creation of mocking-versions of rare cores, to add a bit of variety to the game.
