Thorns also got a pedia entry now

Thanks to carandor for adding an entry for that spell, it had been bugging me for a while.

googagia -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (6/6/2016 4:44:40)

Hi, may I enquire about the multiplicative and subtractive reduction for misc? The guide explains that subtractive is better for higher level, but isn't a percentage decrease in damage always better?
Will anyone out there explain this to me please! Thanks so much!!!

kreem -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (6/6/2016 6:10:11)

@Googagia

Hello.

Summary: Subtractive is best only when you are already at 20% resist or lower before miscs which is standard at top levels. Unless you really need it you don't need to worry all the time about your resists unless it is a very difficult monster so keep true to the 20% rule for now.

Cyclop's eye is an all in one multiplicative resist misc. Cyclop's eye is absolutely awesome for multi-elemental monsters(monsters that can hit with more than 1 element) but also good for everyday monsters that aren't too hard. It is better to use a current level standard misc for the element you're currently defending against for the most part* but Cyclop's eye will keep you from taking too much damage without having to constantly mess around with your inventory and changing misc items each time you will be hurt by a new element. If you are using a .55 or .6 misc at top levels then obviously a subtractive misc would be better.

*Read the multi-elemental mini-paragraph down below.

Here are some examples

Level 150 examples:
Lets say you are at 15% resist which is more or less the assumed resist with a 40% armor and 25% shield then you will be at 5% after the subtractive misc. But now lets say you don't have that shield so you are taking 8x damage compared to where you would with a subtractive misc and shield. A .5 multiplicative misc cuts it in half and now you are only taking 4 times as much damage as the ideal high resist situation. If you used a subtractive misc that would only take off 2x turns of assumed/standard damage instead of 4(which is the high resist situation.)

Multi-elemental:
Mult. miscs are also especially great for monsters when you can't tell what element they will use next turn or they use more than one element in 1 turn so you can defend decently well against two elements at once without ever taking many times more than the usual damage per turn. In the case of multi-elemental monster multiplicative and especially Cyclop's eye is always recommended.

Low level:
Lets say the standard resists for level x are 50% and you have a 10% misc and a x.7 misc. You take 30% less damage from the mult. misc and only 20% less from the sub. misc. Now lets take that another step. With 40% resists before miscs you lose 40% damage from the .60 misc but only 33% of the damage from the 10% sub. misc. So that rule with 20% resists seems to hold true even though these numbers aren't completely standard.

Hope I helped and have a great day.

EDIT Made some minor fixes to this post.

TRB1965 -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (6/6/2016 9:42:30)

I'll try to make this simple. The lower result is always the better result.

Armor and Shield put resistance at 16%. A -10 misc will result in 6%. A 50% misc will result in 8%. The - misc wins.
Armor and Shield put resistance at 26%. A -10 misc will results in 16%. A 50% misc will result in 13%. The * misc wins.

googagia -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (6/6/2016 13:23:15)

@kreem and @TRM1965
Oh, that cleared my understanding so much now.
Thanks guys!! [:)]

Brasca123 -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (6/10/2016 4:15:50)

Not sure if worth a mention, but Lt. Lore Shield has a built-in skill that might be useful... it's locked to ranged though, but i think that shouldn't be a problem since most warriors have 200 DEX. The ele-comp is a bit too low as well, so I'm not really sure if it really deserves a mention or not, but I thought I'd poke you about it at the very least.

For the compression shields section (Simultaneous Multiple Elemental Resistance sub-section) you might want to consider those shields as well.

Fire/Earth: Nova Knight Series

Wind/Ice: Assassin Shield Series

As there is no shield that covers these combinations on the guide.

@Barsca123 - added. Thanks.

SkyBlade3 -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (6/11/2016 22:41:19)

Hi can anyone help me with a question?
between Ultra Omniknight Blade and Blade of Awe!!!, which would be a better water weapon?

Lineolata -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (6/11/2016 22:48:35)

UOK has a powerlevel of 153 MC and is 0% proc versus Awe!!! having a powerlevel of 150 with 10% proc. I recommend UOK if you're following the fully-offensive build. Power Word Die is nice, but the other specials have situational problems, particularly MP drain.

@123surprise - thanks. updated.

1997p3 -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (7/4/2016 11:25:45)

Umm... Just wondering, why is the 4th stat 35 at level 135? (Instead of 75)
Edit: Meant 75 instead of 85

Brasca123 -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (7/4/2016 13:07:37)

Probably because TRB made a typo, the correct number is 75.

TRB1965 -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (7/5/2016 21:45:50)

Because 10 x 5 = 10... right?

Thanks for pointing out the mistake. It's been fixed now.

ruleandrew -> RE: The Training Academy: Ultimate Warrior Guide (part 6) (7/12/2016 8:47:20)

Horo-Show Void Visor is a misc that take 0 turn to equip it on (Horo-Show Void Visor used to be a misc that take 1 turn to equip it on). The upkeep cost in terms of sp had gone up to reflect this new change. The change was made by In Media Res.

Also Horo-Show Void and Void Visor are no longer subtractive miscellaneous. They are now multiplicative miscellaneous. Again the changes are made by In Media Res.

Trend:
subtractive miscellaneous is going to be phase out at some point in the future (slowly). Multiplicative miscellaneous will replace subtractive miscellaneous (slowly).
