I don't understand your reasoning. I understand what you're asking for and why but it's somewhat disaligned with your rationale as to why the change is needed. All classes have different base stats but they supposedly add up to be the same. If they don't that's a huge balance oversight by the devs but I'm going to assume that they can add numbers right and did that correctly. That's one separate balance function. On a completely different route, some skills have stat requirements. The stat requirements are specifically meant to balance out skills such as plasma bolt. Before it had absurd technology scaling and so a moderate strength requirement was added which very effectively reduced the power of caster TM at the time. These two separate aspects of class balance have nothing to do with each other at all. They both serve to fulfill their own unique purpose in terms of balancing the class out. So I don't see the reason to implement your suggestion. Regardless of whether or not mercenary needs a buff, the right type of buff needs to be made, not just arbitrary ones that don't have proper reasoning behind them. In an effort to buff a class, the class's main flaw which makes it so weak needs to be defined and specifically targeted, rather than just "add free stats on" type of buffs. Therefore, not supported.
