Emrys -> 7.4: Intro and Gorthor (5/17/2016 18:14:35)

I thought with such a big and important release, it would be nice to have all the feedback in one thread.

Personally, I loved it. It was engaging and thrilling and beautiful. It was awesome to see guardians fighting skeletons around you and with you, it really felt like a battle. The scenery was so well done, the castle was captivating. The fight with Gorthor (lvl 12 it only lasts like two seconds but I'm sure lvl 1's will have a nice long battle) was so cool. The skeleton mages on the platforms was ingenious and it was so cool to snipe them with mage's fireball or get onto the platforms and fight Gorthor from their (with mage). One time, he actually walked over to me and I was face to face with him on the platform, such a cool shot. It played and felt and looked really really great and I think new players will love it.

Some concerns: This might just be me (I have awful 3D navigation skills) but the ladders were pretty hard to climb, could they possibly be wider? When on the platforms, if you accidently selected an enemy with soemthing other than mage equipped, you start running towards them, which is really annoying (especially if it took you a while to climb the ladders). Plus if you're not on the platforms and you select an enemy who is without mage equipped, you run over there and then glitch out, running in circles underneath the platform, since the "run to selected enemy" function can't handle ladders. These two issues I think could be solved by making platforms and other elevated areas special, for instance just saying the enemy is out of range instead of running to them when you're on it and trying to attack a monster who isn't, and vice versa.

Some questions: Will there be an actual tutorial either in this or right before, ie how to move, how to attack, inventory and all that? Are the conversational cutscenes the final product, or will they be replaced with the first person footage that was mentioned somewhere? After defeating Gorthor, will there be a way to get to BattleOn, maybe by going back to Gaz? (Or is there already and I can't find it?)

Great great great job AQ3D team! What do you fellow players think? Discuss On!

I too like the scenery but I felt like it was way to straightforward and less open. Make it more open and less invisible walls. I know they want to make them go in a path to the boss but I think it makes it more 'realistic' for an open field of battles that you can engage with.

The borders make the maps feel narrower than it should, so I too hoped for wider maps. Also, the borders aren't clearly defined, so I felt as if I was running into invisible walls. There should be more indication to the borders like fences, a skeleton army stampede, larger debris etc. Hence, improvements can be made, since this is only the testing phase.

I like the music in the map, but as it has been reused from Dragonfable, I wonder if it is placeholder. (iirc they're going to use an all new OST?) I do hear some fire effects but I'm not sure if they are part of the track. They did add a lot to the atmosphere though.

I will give a quick review because I have to go in a bit.

Music: Love it. Felt good for a war. It needs to be on a better designed loop however. Rather then ending and dying down it needs to bombast itself more and be more loopy.

Monster design, power and placement: Love it. I liked how the two crawlers popped out of nowhere. Game needs more moments like that. Although i did almost walk past then so such moments need to be done a bit better. Gothar was cool walking into the arena and finding a large monster who just stood there looking all badass. However I spent a large amount of time looking for the tougher Gothar mentioned in the DN's. As well as all the other bits mentioned in the DN's. Guardians fighting the foes was cool too. Also why did Battleon have a exclamation point on my travel map?

Cutscenes: I'm somewhat torn on this. I like the idea but something about it does not fit. Maybe I've been spoiled by the ultra cool animations over in DF but it felt stilted and janky and not very AE...y. Liked the humor, but that was about it. One thing that stood out to me was the fact we did not see the dragon burn down the village. I want to see a dragon burn down a village. In 3D! Also, I feel like we need a intro to our char. Not like a backstory or anything but more like a opening intro scene. it just kinda threw me in there.

Tutorial part of into: Very poor. Nothing was explained. With the woman and irl I saved them entirely by accident. I almost walked away. I would have had no idea how to move, how to attack, how to do a quest, what to click on, how to use shops ETC.

I'd like everyone to remember this is a sneak peek of the intro. It's not the full thing, so let's keep that in mind.

megakyle777 -> RE: 7.4: Intro and Gorthor (5/18/2016 9:11:45)

David: I am well aware it is a sneak peek. I will however review that sneek peek as it is and it is merely my opnion. I expect the full thing will be much better, but it's just whaat I think of it now.

David the Wanderer -> RE: 7.4: Intro and Gorthor (5/18/2016 9:15:24)

Oh, I know that Kyle. But since some people I met in-game seemed to be confused about, I just wanted to say it out loud here to avoid any misunderstandings.

Drakath_SlugWrath -> RE: 7.4: Intro and Gorthor (5/19/2016 22:06:23)

just lettinh you know the intro is pretty much a intro to the intro its no where near finished its going to be much bigger and probs harder but not by much
