Well met friend! Circa worked up a few AdventureQuest 3D app icons for us to look at today. I got to use the unusual way of posing characters to help her get the art. Thank you for all of your great comments and ideas yesterday. Because of the good suggestions we tried a few things from the A. ultra simplied single helm, C. single logo, to the B. 3D-ish icon with the body, and then D. the "Kitchen sink".

Which one do you like best? Personally, I am hovering between the A & B. Maybe D if we can make a cleaner version of the red so it is less unrecognizable at smaller sizes.

Pre-Beta Badges coming!

If you have been participating then you will be receiving your Pre-Beta badge on Tuesday when the servers come down for the update. We need some art for that badge too... any suggestions what art/character/monster/etc should go on it?

Tomorrow: Check in for important info about the upcoming Closed-Beta / Open-Beta release schedule !

I have to say option D seems the best, as it presents the game clearly without having the icon being overly simplified.

Arthur -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/15/2016 6:21:19)

I like C. It doesn't give away too much and at the same time, looks really neat. You can look at it and know what badassery to expect from the game. The last one seems slightly overdone whereas the first two seem too plain. They give off no impact, unfortunately.

Honestly, I say C because that is easily one of the most beautifully designed logos I've seen or would have seen on the PlayStore and I feel it's enough to make the game sellable.

Shiny_Underpants -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/15/2016 8:15:30)

I have to say, I prefer C. I prefer the icon to be artistic, and elegant. The human element (especially with the bulky armour) takes away from the elegance.
However, D also gives a taste of what's actually in the game, so it works as well.

Agart -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/15/2016 8:40:50)

D looks sick, C aint bad either

Vypie -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/15/2016 9:10:15)

A and B ones seem kinda generic, I have seen many other games already featuring the same kind of picture of a hero in armor.
D is too crowded, in my opinion.

I would go with C. But it needs to have the red pop up more. (higher brightness, but watch out for over-saturation). You could also try putting the gold color of the armor into the border?

popinloopy -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/16/2016 14:41:53)

In my opinion, I think A gets looks the best. It's simple enough that it's distinguishable and you can tell what it is (unlike D), it has enough detail to draw attention and look cool (unlike C), and it's only one central point of focus so you know what to look at (unlike D and B).

Swordsman of Worlds -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/17/2016 20:17:44)

I'd go with B, personally. Nothing against C or D. Actually, the first time I saw C in my tab icon for aq3d.com, I thought it was the ThunderCats insignia. ':)

Seltory -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/17/2016 20:38:41)

I like a becuase of the simplicity of it

orc orc orc -> RE: =AQ3D= Design Notes July 14th - App Icon Design (7/18/2016 5:53:16)

I would choose C if they used a better contrasting color to the Dragon logo.
