For slightly clearer directions:
Start in the Falconreach main square, where the Inn and Twilly are. Move down/south, where the bank and fairy smith are. Down/south again, and you come to the river. You're actually able to move right/east here if you move around the signpost and along the bank, following the river, which is something that took me a while to notice! (and may be what's causing the problem xD) Move right/east along the river bank again, and you'll come to a spot where there's a path leading North/upwards. Take that path, and you should reach the statue.
Hope that helps! Geopetal deserves to be remembered, though I find it fitting that for someone who wrote such complex stories requires a little exploring to find her statue.
