Starstruck -> Character Classes? (8/23/2016 23:15:54)

Hey everyone.

I was musing just the other day about character archetypes and my thoughts naturally fell to classes. If you aren't familiar with the concept, a character's class describes the methods they use to fight or adventure. For example, there are many different kinds of resourceful characters, but a "ranger" will always be a resourceful scout who's experienced at roaming long distances and living off the land.

I can think of a few:

Mage
Warrior
Thief
Ranger
Cleric
Paladin
Necromancer
Beastmaster
Ninja
Pirate

Anything missing from this list? Anything you want to add? What's your favorite?

Heya Star. Not much to add that list pretty much has it down. And Honestly, most classes brance off from Mage, Warrior, Rouge and healer/priest. They are the 4 basic in most games for a reason XD. After that, you can ge a bit creative with your classes using those as bases. Such as vampire coming from either mage and rouge or mage and warrior, or warrior and rogue, depending on how you want your vampire to be. You can have some classes be available to all or to none and be gained through special conditions or items. Or have a character with a base class out side of the 4 with characteristics of some or be completely different. Like a character that is a sacred spirit, so their base class could be demon fox, or divine spirit, something or another and their class doesn't change throughout their story but they grow stronger.

P.S: my favorite is anything that has to do with either dragons or vampires, or mages..cuz magic

Just adding the classics of Beserker and Bard.

They would make a nice duo.

What happened to this place? Last I remembered there were dozens of active roleplays, and now everything's so empty...

I don't know the majority of what down (wasn't really present all that much on the boards, but I like to peek on the boards every now and than since I used to RP quite a bit in the past when I was younger), but a few years ago the folks in charge of the board tried to... Uh, structure the board a bit better. Don't know the details of how the decision was made, but pretty much they made it so folks had to pass through several stages in the Role Playing Academy section of the board to be allowed to actually take part in RPs in the Roleplaying section of the board. They also made it so that only certain folks could host RPs I believe, which also cut the number of RPs to actually pop up. I guess they wanted to remove the extra clutter some more structured RPs with less short posts or the like I guess

That well, kind of turned off people I think, what with how activity died down safe for a few folks still sticking around. Eventually the mandatory Academy passing restriction was removed, and any folks could join an RP freely, but the damage seems to have been done. Bit more time passed and well, here we are. Kind of a shame how the boards died down, always sad to see an RP board fade to near inactivity.

To the topic at hand though, I think the only main class on the list that may have missed would be a Brawler/Monk character with a focus on hand to hand combat I think. Aside from that, maybe a Summoner/Conjurer? Granted, Necro kind of fits that bill what with with summoning the dead. Hmm, maybe a Blue Mage/Shape Shifter/Mimic with a focus on using skills of enemies/monsters as well? That's kind of incredibly niche though I admit, haha.
