It's because you have less energy if you have read the new balance (All classes now gain 1.5 Energy per level, down from 2)

That's the build you had before the update, including the energy you had. So there are some extra stat points replacing the energy base missing.

I know why it happens, just saying it would make sense if it auto-updated.
This doesn't seem like the best implementation, although it might be a limitation.

Automatically taking off skill points would be met with player complaints about having to retrain to make a newer build. This current option allows the player chose how they want to allocate the points.

Not a bug, tagged as resolved.
