The Weaver's Return
Part 1

The Inn was never a bright place, and for the most part the only light sources were the few candles burned down the the little stubs that passed for wicks, with weak flames fighting to stay alive. The dinginess of the small building was common, therefore its patrons were quite used to the dark, for the most part. Once the dark snow began to fall, however, they were quickly reminded of what true darkness looks like. The candles were snuffed out immediately, as a cold wind rushed through the village, with a wave of shadows on its heels.

The sound of glass breaking was the first thing Amon heard once the darkness hit. Among the disgruntled sound of the commotion, a deep grunt was heard, followed by the loud crashing of a table being smashed, and rattling bones could be heard against the old wooden floor. Amon opened his eyes. Rising to his feet immediately, he saw dozens of skeletons and other creatures of darkness converge on the village, with screams echoing into the night. The fighters in the inn drew their weapons, and the chaos ensued. The darkness was overwhelming, the invading army of the dead seemed innumerable, many of whom still bore the broken mask of Baron Valtrith. Tables were thrown, skeletons were shattered, mages and cultist threw blasts of light all around. It was as though the village was hit by a blizzard, with the black snow swirling, and the energy illuminating the dark and cloudy sky.

A single skeleton awkwardly charged Amon, who in return charged faster, shattering its skull with a single punch. Three more came at him, and after knocking aside a proving spear, he grabbed the one closest to him by the arm and smashed it into the other two. As even more monsters began to swarm in, he saw dozens of incoming foes converging on him at once. With a roar he clenched his fist, and silver lightning flashed around his soul looms as he punched the ground, creating a shockwave that caused every floorboard in the room to violently explode, sending the dark beasts flying as he then charged forward, using his great size to smash through everything in his path.

When he finally smashed straight through the wall of the inn, he was only then able to realize the true severity of this attack. Darkness had fallen, and war had begun.

The Weaver's Return
Part 2

Blackness. True penetrating blackness, completely devoid of light in any way. Nothing visible at all, just darkness. That was all that was shown to Amon when he opened his eyes. He lay still momentarily, unsure of whether his eyes were even truly open, or if there was something in front of his face. As he attempted to reach out in front of him, he became aware of the immense weight upon him, pinning him belly-down. There was limited air for Amon to breathe, and even that was freezing cold and full of dust. Unsure of what to do next, he wriggled everything he could, and found his only option of movement was the ability to move his left leg forward, and so he did.

After what felt like hours, he managed to get his left foot on the ground, planted unsteadily beneath him. With that leverage, he was able to shift the weight on him up slightly, freeing his left arm and right leg slightly. Amon strained, and fought until he got his other leg underneath him. With the immense weight still pressing down on his back, his body was bent at the hips, and his legs were forced into an awkward squat. At this point, he took a moment to consider his predicament. Why did he fight? The last thing he held dear to him was gone, and all that fighting had accomplished thus far was getting a building to fall on top of him. It was in this very moment that Amon once again craved death. Knowing that was not an option angered him greatly.

As his rage built within him, Amon used his great mass to push upward, lifting the weight of what turned out to be the Inn's roof off of him. As he rose to a full standing position, with the roof held above his head, he roared into the darkness, pouring every ounce of his self hatred into it. He heaved the roof away and stepped out. Not a single building still stood. Bodies were strewn around him, and were being buried by the falling black snow. He searched the area for any signs of life, but to no avail. There wasn't a single living person in sight. After over an hour of searching, Amon sighed, and began his long trek west, to Falconreach.

The power of the warrior

The night is long darkness covers Falconreach and many other settlements and in that night by axe was glowing brightly allowing my victims a to see a flash of light before I ended their life. I was staying on a mountain of undead, cultists and all kinds of supernatural beings and the mountain will become bigger. My anger will not subside easily the corruption of dragon will be avenged the death of Serenity will be payed in destruction and the burden of Lore will be taken of my shoulders.

The enemies keep advancing and I will slaughter them like the bugs they are I will cut the head of cultists I will crack the skulls of the undead and I will pulverize the elementals. A noise appeared in the forest of doomwood a cultist showed his head and my feet moved and with supernatural speed my axe finished the cultist. Other beings appeared a undead a elemental and another cultist all attacking me all dying before they could even lounge for a attack. I was furious and I did not hold back everything I learned from my betters from my experience and determination was put in this battle. I will be the grim reaper in the mind of my enemies and I will spread terror so big that it will reach Caitiff my nemesis.

She may be stronger she may be smarter she may be in a advantage but I will give my all to defeat her I will sacrifice my life to vanquish her and I will get revenge for Draco and Serenity and will get revenge for all the innocents that died because of her. Caitiff I will destroy you.

After 12 days of fighting Oaklore, Amythivale the Dragon Grove all fell but not without a huge cost to the enemy army most of the lay dead and soon the rest will follow together with countless other adventures and heroes we are going on the last push and what a last push its gonna be.

Using a special made axe made to kill undead together with a the greatest army I have ever saw I released a war cry for the ages and the a great army pured trough the gates of Falconreach and army Caitiff has no chance to stop hundreds of thousands of enemies began falling behind our might. I persoanlly slew thousands and thousands and thousands in that fight but it was nothing compared to the combined might of the army of heroes. Yes heroes I call them heroes because they are exactly that heroes of lore, heroes of legend and most important my own heroes.

"For Falconreach, for our fallen, for Lore, for Draco!!!!!"

Stephen Nix -> RE: =DF= "Friday the 13th Invasion: Black Winter" War Stories (1/9/2017 13:26:10)

Nix, a name that has gone unheard of for some time. Some say he died off a couple years ago when he transformed into a fear beast, others say that was never him to begin with. The truth is, no one truly knows what Nix has been up to. His castle remains abandon, his cell in Falconreach Guardian Tower lies empty. He is simply off the grid.

New enemies would rise, such as the Baron, Caitiff, and even the Rose. You see the heroes always need opposition, it helps to give them a sense of purpose. This story will end with a question, you the reader will have to decide which side to go with and once the war is finished, you'll know the answer. But what is the question exactly? I guess, you'll have to read to find out, let's begin!

Kain asks his fellow Guardian, Did you see anything in the castle?
The Guardian replies, No sir, it looks uninhabited.
Kain looks towards the Guardian and says, Even Zorbak doesn't have a clue what the creature has been up to. He simply went off the face of L.O.R.E. Was there no news at Dragesvard Inn?
Nothing sir, just the usual clientele and a couple of older patrons looking to warm up by the fireplace. It's in blizzard conditions out in those parts nowadays.
That's too bad soldier, perhaps he really is gone for good.
Sir, I'm going back out there to find more information on his whereabouts.
Not a bad idea, said Kain. Go ahead, we will clear a passage for you!

At the Dragesvard Inn, one of the older Killguins sits by the fire, with a cloak over his head, warming his fins as a local patron witnesses the penguin sitting in the chair by himself, decides to investigate where the creature is from.

The name's Fenrir. How's it looking out there?
The penguin simply sits there and doesn't say a word.

Fenrir looks curious.

From these parts friend?
The penguin nods.

From the north?
Again the penguin nods.

You know winter is coming right? It's gonna get even worse out in these parts.
The penguin remains still.

I bet you'd be okay as you are one of those Killguins. Survive under crazy temperatures, am I right?
The penguin glares at Fenrir.

Sorry friend, I'm just making conversation.
The penguin looks aside.

It's just that the Suneater's Helm has been doing rough for business lately. Such as life I suppose.
The penguin appears to be agitated and uninterested.

Any family then?
The penguin stands up and croaks, WWWAAACCC WAAAAAACC WAAAACCCCC! LEAVE ME ALONE!

Everyone at the Inn stares at the disturbed penguin.

Eydis, the Inn owner looks at the penguin. You can leave now sir.

The penguin gets up slowly and waddles slowly towards the door of the establishment. He opens it and gets a face full of freezing cold air hitting his face. The winds were exceptionally cold this day and the blizzard like conditions were so rough you couldn't even see what was right in front of you. The penguin begins to waddle off when another local runs straight into the penguin, knocking off his cloak.

AHH! Man I'm sorry!

Fenrir chirps, Sven, where you been friend, we missed last night.

As Sven, gets the cloak for the penguin, he looks up and witnesses the monocle and the glowing blue eyes with an undead looking face. GOOD GRACIOUS! It's him!

The patrons all look towards the penguin again and yelp,

"It's NIX!" "Good gosh, could it be." "That ain't him, Nix was smaller."

Elyris, quickly dashes towards the door to call for help as the creature scurries off into the thick of the storm.

Could it be, she wonders.

On the other side of Greenguard, Caitiff masses her armies and sends them towards the cities across L.O.R.E. With her knowledge of all previous events she is quick to send in everyone she has encountered in her travels.
The townspeople of Willowshire were overwhelmed by the massive attack and were quickly engulfed into the shadows. The general of the second attack kneels while unseen by the viewer.

It has been done Caitiff, the first section to fall. is in our control.
Caitiff responds to the general. From what I have learnt, this was inevitable. Your work will not go unanswered. They will gather the courage to strike even harder.

The heroes have been in this situation before Caitiff. Remember Xan, ma'am?

I KNOW THHHHHHHHHAT, I HAVE STUDIED ALL OF THE HEROES PLAYSSSSSSS. I know the heroes better than they know themselves! I'm forcing them to make all the choices. Where to protect, where to strike. To me it's quite clear my general...

The general stands up and reveals to be General Nix.

I'll get the heroes to make the wrong move. And that will cost them dearly! GO NOW NIX, continue the assault on Falconreach.

I, will not fail, Caitiff. Nix bows to his boss and walks towards the shadows.

At the Beacons of Hope tower, a prisoner is placed on a wagon and being delivered to Falconreach Guardian Tower for Draketh, the warden of Falconreach Chambers section. The individual snarls at Draketh as he looks up to see the wardan.

Well, this is a lovely surprise. It has been ages since you've been in your cell said Warden Draketh.

Guardian Kain rushes up to the tower's holding cells to speak with Draketh. Where was he? We thought we looked everywhere for this trouble maker.

Draketh looks towards the heroes: Aura Knight, Starflame13, Zekrom5, Azan, Strength and Ultranx.

Couldn't have done it without some help from these guys, said Draketh. Though we did have to remind Azan to not transform our guest into a giant cookie.

Azan looks around in disbelief. Surely, you have the wrong person. *nibbles on a tiny cookie in his pocket and belches incredibly loudly* Everyone shakes their head at Azan.

Kain, peers over the prisoner. Looks like you don't have any company here. Well that's too bad.

Kain tosses him into his cell and locks the cage.

The prisoner speaks up and reveals to be Nix, I'll get out of here, and when I do I will shatter your hopes...and especially your dreams. *cackles*

Draketh zaps Nix with a small lightning bolt. Doubtful, and you won't be getting out anytime soon.

As everyone returns back to the battlefield the 6 heroes ready their weaponry to rejoin the fray. They notice Baron Dante is in charge of the strike force in Falconreach and are currently dragging Kyle and DragonMan off the field by the back of their chest plates.

Ouch, hey come on Dante, this is absurd, yelled Megakyle. I only give out the best intel I receive from my ravens...I don't need this right now.

AGREED, THIS IS RIDICULOUS! DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE A PART OF FALCONREACH TOO?, whispered Dragonman.

Not happening you two! Not on my watch.

They both plead with Baron, B-B-BUT COME ON!

Nope, I don't need to recapture you guys again once this is done, and you know I'll do it. I decided, I might as well save some time now and take you two to your cells. Now Draketh, any room for these two?

Draketh looks at him confused, Ummm yeah, sure.

As the two are escorted off by the warden, Baron speaks to the other 6 heroes. So we have a slight problem here everyone.

Strength looks at Baron, what's the problem I want to get raiding?

The town of Willowshire has been taken in by the gulfs of shadows from Caitiff. I had hoped you all wouldn't have been gone for so long with the prisoner transfer. We've lost the town for now.

I'm sorry to hear that Baron, said Aura Knight. Allow me and my exosuit to chop these undead into pieces around the town, I'll get it back! Or wait, I'll use the catapults--

Starflame13 interrupts, what Aura means is that we can fight for the town once we have carved out a path to reach the town again right?

Ultranx looks at the shadows just surrounding the town of Falconreach, where would we even start?

Exactly says Baron Dante, we have to work with what's left. Now General Nix had his motions in the assault but I bet if we use a tactical---

Zekrom5 places his hand around Baron, good thing that's the fella we just nabbed.

Guardian Kain rushes towards the conversation about Nix. Say that again Baron?

Nix had his undead strike team assault the Willowshire defenses late last night.

But that's impossible, Kain said. He was the prisoner they transferred over from the Beacons Tower.

As everyone scratches their heads, one of the Guardians that flew in from Dragesvard hands an urgent scroll to Kain to read. NOW WAIT JUST A SECOND...how is THAT possible, he exclaims.

Everyone gives Kain a chance to speak.

Nix has teamed up along side Caitiff, yet has been stirring up trouble in Dragesvard and is also our prisoner here in Falconreach Tower.

Everyone looks in disbelief. Azan speaks up with confidence, TIME TRAVEL!

Starflame13 smacks Azan across the back of his head. Nix can't know time travel. That's purely illogical, even for him...which is a stretch.

Kain looks genuinely shocked then looks at the person reading this story right now wondering what the beginning question was...

THEN WHO IS THE REAL NIX?

To be Continued.

Dragonman -> RE: =DF= "Friday the 13th Invasion: Black Winter" War Stories (1/9/2017 23:16:35)

The News:

Day 3:

Welcome to TDLNND, Falconreach's finest news source. I'm reporting live from the front lines, where we received reports that early this morning Willowshire was lost to the darkness.

Apparently the source of all this darkness is the world destroying dragon of prophetic fame, which as some doomsayers are saying, will fulfill it's destiny and destroy us all, sending us into darkness. Personally I don't put much stock into that.

I have attempted to send in reporters to investigate Willowshire, but none of them have been able to report back. Therefore, tomorrow I will be hosting live from Willowshire, in order to give a good idea what life in complete elemental darkness is like.

In other news, Mayor Landis Waen's re-inauguration is only a few days away, and he will probably be celebrating, because there is obviously a lot to celebrate right now.

And I just want to remind everyone to battleon! And help protect the world!

Day 4:

Welcome to TDLNND, I'm your host Dragonman and this horrifying complete elemental darkness is Willowshire. Willowshire is famous for being repeatedly destroyed by Dragons, and since it's too dark for you to see I can confirm that it feels pretty destroyed, making this the fourth dragon to destroy Willowshire in the past 5 years. I have attempted to find any survivors to rescue or interview, but to be entirely honest, its too dark to tell if this is really Willowshire or somewhere else.

What I can say is that there are horrifying screams that I hear occasionally and this basically is the most terrifying I've ever done. As I was traversing this darkness I heard from my sources that Sho-nuff Island too is engulfed in darkness and that we may be in grave peril, as soon all other cities will fall. But I don't think that's true, I think that the heroes of the world can protect the rest of Greenguard, nay Lore from this horrifying fate. And I believe not only will we do this, not only does noone else need to die in fear of darkness, but we can also bring justice to those who have caused all of this, Caitiff, the Cult of Valtrith, the Shadowscythe, they will all pay for this. And now for reports from the remaining locations.

Sunbreeze Grove is well protected by it's void Dragon denizens and the dragonlords backing them, and is not at risk of darkness pouring in as of yet. There have been few casualties in Sunbreeze grove, though each one is a great loss, as there are only a few defenders.

Swordhaven Path is protected by both Rose and royal troops, remaining well defended both in and out of war. The border checkpoint is completely closed so no cultists will be able to disguise themselves and come through.

Doomwood is weakening, with the leader of the Rose troops there Magus Neron, having disappeared. There are rumors of both Vampire and Werewolf troops taking on ambush tactics and destroying the cult by surprise.

Oaklore, with the pactagonal knights and their Rose garrison is extremely well defended, it is a keep after all, although I am loathe to say it, because of the the Rose has been instrumental here in particular, the losses after the Wargoth incident were so great that Oaklore would not be a functional keep without the Rose troops.

The Sandsea is having trouble defending itself, although the citizens are nearly evacuated, and as soon as all citizens in the area (including the Ateala of the Rift city nearby) have evacuated, the Rose in the Sandsea are expected to retreat to Falconreach; along with the evacuees.

Falconreach's wall remains unbreached luckily, and is easily the best defended city, due to not just it's guardians and the Falconreach Rose garrison, but the nearby Surewould Rose garrison, and many powerful individuals hoping to make Falconreach the last stand if need be, including half dragon sorceress Nythera and famed Paladin Artix von Krieger.

In Willowshire there is only darkness, and I can find no remainder of the Willowshire guardians.

Reports from Sho-nuff have gone quiet, but last I heard it was being defended by a giant metal man being controlled by a 5000 year old ghost named Kordana, as well as assorted pirates and the Ninja Clan of the Four Winds I am unable to confirm or deny the survival of any of the individuals involved, only that my source has been either killed captured, or made unable to report to me shortly after Osprey Cove, where they were stationed, was overrun.

A moment of silence for the fallen.

Battleon.

Day 5:

Hello I'm Dragonman and welcome to TDLNND.

An astonishing thing happened to me, traipsing through the darkness, I was kidnapped by warmonger D00ms, who was being hypnotized by a dark spirit called Asmodeus, and forced against his will and better judgments to capture the stragglers remaining in the dark depths of Willowshire. Luckily for the both of us, I bravely distracted him while his hammer was pressed up against my neck with a magical explosion nearby, when he turned to look at it I, with great difficulty, knocked the hammer out of his hands, and then used it to bonk him in the head.

Head bonks are of course Asmodeus' one weakness so he was swiftly defeated, and the two of us decided there was no use remaining in the darkness, and headed back to the front lines.

On the way however, this is where the really astounding thing happens, we were accosted by a strange bright light, and the smell of beef and eggs. A shining being stepped out of the light and revealed himself to be Zeuster, god of the Chickencows. He seemed to be the most arrogant and full of himself being I have ever met, not anything at all like me your humble, wise, and talented reporter, but seeing the chance for an exclusive interview, I took it by its heels and asked it questions.

quote:

Excuse me, your beefiness, do you mind if I ask you a few questions about what is going on here now?

Yes but only three four, and that one counts.

OK, what do you think about this grave war that is going on in our mortal plane?

This seems absolutely barbaric to me, and incredibly annoying, do you know how many of my constituents have been praying loudly complaining to end this great darkness? It's quite a lot.

Why have you not, as yet, intervened in the war?

Because when I came here I looked for a great darkness amidst the fighting but I didn't see any it's bright everywhere I go!

I see thank you very much. One further question who did you support for the Mayoral campaign in Falconreach?

I definitely supported Dragonman for Mayor. Dragonman is just such a powerful leader and so charismatic, and strong, and definitely doesn't edit his interviews after they happen.

You heard it here folks, the amazing thing was I got a celebrity endorsement from the god of Chickencows! Anyway, after that, we parted ways, Zeuster unable to see any darkness because of his glowing Aura, and continued back to the front lines.

Since I was trapped in the darkness all day, unfortunately, I cannot update you all on the status of the remaining strongholds, but what I can say is no additional cities have fallen today.

Day 6

Welcome to TDLNND. Sunbreeze Grove is no more. The Void Dragons from the grove have mostly survived and most are recovering in an inn in Falconreach, there were 13 fatalities, and 20 seriously injured in the war camps, with 2 currently in critical condition. I am unhappy to report that the same is not true for the 4th Dragonlord Battalion stationed in Sunbreeze grove, they all fought to the last allowing the void dragons to escape, and there were no survivors, human, dragon, or otherwise. This includes one of my sources, a young Dragonlord named Reginald Castles. Castles had just celebrated his 22nd birthday earlier this month.

There are still no reports from Willowshire, although Kordana has been sighted defending Falconreach from balls of darkness, leaving some hope for those with loved ones in Willowshire, Sho Nuff Island or any of the other places covered in darkness before a defense was launched. Kordana's survival brings us all just a little bit of hope needed on this dark day.

The Sandsea evacuation is almost complete, with Rose troops attempting to hold the line and evacuate desert nomads and hermits, the Rose themselves are expected to have evacuated the Sandsea by the middle of the day Saturday.

Queen Safiria of the vampires has officially rallied an army of both vampires and werewolves, bravely defending Amityvale, Moonridge and the rest of Doomwood from the crushing darkness, reinforcing the incredibly weakened Rose troops there.

Oaklore Keep has still had no breaches, with one Sir Baumbard, usually very sickly, helping by bombing attackers. My source in Oaklore credits him for singlehandedly taking out more than 10% of Oaklore invaders before they even reach sight of the Keep. The Pactagonal knights and the Rose battalion, along with their reinforcements who arrived from Swordhaven earlier today.

Speaking of Swordhaven, Sowrdhaven proper has been confirmed to have been engulfed by darkness, however, the countryside and border checkpoint between Falconreach and Swordhaven still hold, with most of Swordhaven's standing army protecting the road. Most of the citizens of Swordhaven have relocated into the countryside temporarily, and are slowly moving towards Falconreach, unfortunately due to strict border controls both ways, Falconreach is unlikely to let very many in very quickly, and while Swordhaven path is well defended, it is a very real worry that many citizens will not escape before the darkness collapses in on them.

Falconreach, finally has seen one small sign of hope lately, the Water elves and other sea dwelling folk from the Locker, located in the sea just next to Falconreach have bolstered the protection of Falconreach, adding to the citizens of the Underground Ravenloss, including several Chaosweavers who arrived to help this morning, The reconciliation between Falconreach and the Chaosweavers is a historic event, which I myself had a small part in facilitating. I make it no secret that I do know a few Chaosweavers underground.

Thank you, I wish there was happier news to report, but like the outside, the news just continues to get darker.

A moment of silence for all of our fallen comrades...

Battleon.

Day 8

Welcome to TDLNND, I'm Dragonman, with, unfortunately bad news to report. The evacuation of the citizens of Duat was successful, and even ahead of schedule. Unfortunately they had to be relocated to Atrea instead of Falconreach due to growing Darkness.

This came just after the dead civilians and combatants on our side had been being reanimated by Doom Weapons, becoming lesser versions of Caitiff, the monster responsible for this mess, who is inhabiting the corpse of valued Falconreach innkeeper and breadmaker, Serenity. It is truly a horrifying sight to behold, and I am sparing our viewers when I say, I refuse to report any further

And, what's that? This just in. The vampire and Rose forces in Doomwood have fallen, now they can no longer even see their moon that usually gleams in their unending night. The casualties are enormous, and there are so many unnaccounted for as of yet in fact that I cannot hazard a guess of how many have survived.

Bad news from the Front in Swordhaven as well, while citizens have been able to slowly get through border control, the garrison in the path has had to fall back considerably twice today alone, making 5 times since our last report, and they will likely fall before the end of the day Monday.

Finally, in a bad but far less bad news, I was injured defending Falconreach during the recent collapse of a large barrier set up outside the city, which has allowed me to see the tents of all the injured here in Falconreach, even though we have all sorts of alchemists and healing mages, it is near impossible to keep up with all of the incoming injuries, leaving me reporting with a, very likely broken, leg.

The only thing resembling good news is Oaklore and Falconreach both have their walls as tough as ever, although the Dragon Bombing around Oaklore had to stop due to the darkness encroaching, leaving Sir Baumbard and his dragon grounded. The only form of air support left in this War is giant metal statue Kordana, which has been preventing Falconreach from being bombarded by dark orbs for the past several days. But we have managed to roll out Cata-tanks, invented by the gnomes, which are far more efficient than regular catapults at destroying incoming armies.

We must not lose hope however; as even factoring in the newest recruits Caitiff has, we have destroyed over half of its army, and Falconreach will not fall today. We will not fail against Caitiff. Battleon!

Day 9:

Welcome to TDLNND I'm your host Dragonman, totally not reporting way later than I should be, here to report the status of the war.

Unfortunately, this morning, Swordhaven path was fully engulfed by the darkness. Only 5000 people made it through the Border Control today before it had to be permanently closed, leaving tens of thousands missing in action, presumed dead.

Oaklore still stands for now, however reports are saying, while the wall remains unbreached, the forces are getting closer now than ever, now that Sir Baumbard had to stop his bombing runs on the undead. The Rose and Pactagonal forces in Oaklore have had a high survivability rate due to pactagonal Sir Junn's expert Sir Jury. Err.. surgery.

Falconrneach remains the 'safest' place in this war, with the walls unbreached. The barricades however have been made almost completely worthless by repeated attack. However, with almost 4/5 members of Caitiff's army destroyed, the light is in sight. Things are actually starting to look up, despite the darkness. I believe that dawn will come soon.

Day 10:

If anyone can hear me, this is Dragonman, from The Daily Lore News Network Dragon. I'm trapped in the LNN building, my news reporting, I'm not sure if its working. The building is on fire. All of Falconreach is on fire. I just received word from Sir Ruptitious, my contact in Oaklore that Oaklore has also been breached and the darkness is coming in. He told me these were his final words and it was his final wish to relay them: "Beatrice, daddy loves you very much and he's so sorry he can't come home. He's with mommy now, and he knows you'll be safe with your grandma."

I deeply regret his loss. I'm afraid however, I can't say much more, the fire seems to be getting closer, and I'm attempting to put it out, but I'm just going to hope that somebody helps me put out these fires.

Tales from the Front

The Walls of Falconreach

You should be able to see the tops of Oaklore Keep from here.
Today, for the fourth day running, there are times I can barely see the bottom of the walls. Let alone the Hydra Bridge.
Casualty rates have fallen since the weekend, whoever's making the supply runs must be under the grace of the Avatars, arrows, healing potions, mana ones for the few mages that are still part of the garrison. We sit in one of the guardrooms, waiting. Waiting to be called out again. And we will, soon. Because the waves just keep coming, and so out we go to face them at the outer defences whilst arrows and light magic pour over our heads into the horde. Whilst we wait talk is dominated by the fate of other towns.
Deep down most of us probably expected to lose Willowshire. We'd never admit it, even to yourself really. Know I didn't. Truthfully that place was near indefensible, the defences had been trampled over time and time again. Seen too much war Willowshire.
No Shuff, though. No one expected to lose No Shuff. Never even crossed anyone's darkest nightmares. Mind you, now it's lost no one thinks that monster will hold it long. After all its ninja territory. At home in the dark ninjas, s'probably helping them.
'Lest that's what I tell myself, tell the others too.

"Lads, lasses. We're up! Three minutes."
Sergeant’s voice doesn't even need to be loud anymore. It's been a day or so since we actually talked in downtime. Mostly you rest, gotta get as much rest, as much strength back as possible. The sorties (or 'raids') rotate squads of front liners around, usually fifteen, twenty minutes. Sometimes more, never less. Mages drop a bunch of light bombs over the walls and we open the small gates. Half a dozen little squads rush out and kill as many Cultists, elementals, mummies, and whatever else that fiend's throwing at the walls this time.
If you're lucky sometimes one of Heroes turns up. Mostly hear whispers though, seems like they're always elsewhere. Sandsea, Doomwood apparently.
Makes sense I suppose, they've not got walls like ours. Smaller garrisons.
Rose soldiers, not guardian trained. Not the slightest clue about fighting a war like this. Quick learners though.
Have to be.

The Forests near Swordhaven.

The trees teem with monsters. Mummies, elementals, Avatar-curse-them Cultists. You'd think the big ones where the worst, but you'd
be wrong. It's the little ones, with the big staffs. Powerful mages. We're on constant watch here, no walls to take refuge behind every so often. The waves break in to a stream of monsters, then a lull, and back to the odd wave attacking the rough outpost of a farm house.
I heft my sword, its split more than its share of monster skull so far. So many more than I'd ever expected to. We're off again. Forging into the woods by the farm, we'll not wait for them to come to us. We close as a group on a pair of Darkness Elementals..
And then a flash.
Two no three figures dart into the woods cutting down monsters with barely a thought, Heroes! It's sights like that that make me believe we can win this war. Sights like her. The Riftcutter. Dancing through a dozen or so monsters like it's no more than a stroll through Swordhaven's market, axe in hand sliding through elementals like through steam dissipating them instantly.
And then another flash and she's gone. Teleported.
I can only think of one thing as we take our moment's unexpected rest;
She had sand in her hair.

When War Comes

Smash, strike stab, as my hands grow numb on the hilt of Masamune. Wrenching it from the cultists ribs in a spray of sparks, I swing backwards, deflecting an overhand strike from behind by ramming the hilt into the Monkee's hand, knocking the cutlass to the earth. Another strike and I shatter the mask.
The shards fall to earth, and the creature shakes its head, chittering at me thankfully before launching itself after its enslaved comrades. Once, this would have brought a smile to my heart, but now it will have to wait. There is no time for such things in the heat of battle, as even now darkness elemental falls to shreds around the light element blade. Greyor trips past me, the momentum of his fall sending him cartwheeling past, shattering masks left and right, before coming ot halt, SoulClaws firmly buried in a zombie's throat. I shake my head at his antics, as he heaves teh zombie into a knot of foes and lashes out with his tail.
Whirling, numb from countless battles, I strike off the head of a skeleton, before a purple werewolf leaps past me to close her jaws on another cultist’s throat, tearing it open in a spray of blood and gore. Turning to avoid being blinded by the blood, I intercept another blade aimed for Raven's back. She doesn’t spare the time to thank me, simply lunging for her next target.
Once, there would have been a dragon by my side. Now there is no counterpoint to my steps, and I leave myself open when I should not, the habits of partnered battle.
Wading through the mud formed of the blood of my foes, I seize a moment to breathe and down a potion, my gloved hands numb from griping the blade so tightly.
I freed the monkees, and they freed other monkees. If they can be freed, surely my dragon can as well, though there is no mask to shatter.
My respite is over. If I rest too long, the exhaustion of countless battles will catch up, and then I will save no one. Drawing my sword, I leap back into the fray.
I recite the words of the Guardian’s Oath in my mind, a litany against despair as the world around me dissolves once more into a whirl of battle, of struggle unending.
We fight for the dawn, the new day that will come, no matter how long the night. We are those who challenge the darkness, again and again and again. We are those who will bring about the dawn that has yet to be. We carry with us the memories of those who have died along the way, every fallen comrade. We are those who pledge our lives to the defense of the innocent, the helpless. We are the Guardians of light and hope, heroes of lore.

I am the Hero of Lore. So long as I can prevent it, darkness will never win.
Not while I draw breath, or while Vayle lives to bar my death and hold me to life for the moglins to heal. I will not allow myself to fall until the wars are done, and the Doom weapons of the ShadowScythe are no more.
I will Battle On.

King of Zards -> RE: =DF= "Friday the 13th Invasion: Black Winter" War Stories (1/13/2017 11:52:32)

I lived with my mother and our cat on a small farmstead at the edge of Doomwood, an hour walk from Moonridge. I rarely met my father as most of the time he was away due to his career. (He's a Gnomish Personal Steamtank.) Despite the location, our life was rather peaceful there ...until that fateful day. Nowadays, it's all just a distant memory.

It started out like any other day. After breakfast and morning chores I headed out into the woods. I love exploring. I don't really hunt, but I carry a bow and a few potions with me. It's Doomwood after all. Luckily, our homestead is located at a relatively quiet section of Doomwood. I encountered undead every other day on my hikes, but I can somewhat fend them off. I've grown up there and I know most of those paths like the back of my hand. I noticed something was off early on. It was too quiet and I hadn't seen any trace of the regular forest-dwellers, no wolves, no spiders, no zards... In Doomwood you always get this feeling that something is lurking in the shadows, watching your every step. As I grew up there, I got used to that feeling. Now that feeling was absent and, ironically, that unnerved me more than anything. It was like the woods were devoid of life (and un-life). Then I noticed a fresh trail of gorillaphant tracks. The pacing of the tracks made it look like the animal was fleeing from something. I decided to track it down to get a glimpse of the majestic creature and perhaps, if lucky, I could find an entire Schnozz. The tracks led me close to a cliff that overlooks a large section of Doomwood. That's when a thundering roar made the entire world shake for a second. Terrified, I glimpsed at the horizon. There was something large flying in the distance, a dragon perhaps. The sky darkened in its trail. I immediately bolted homeward. I decided to take a shortcut instead of taking the path I came. I was about halfway there when I noticed a strange, eerie glow coming from behind the trees. I hid in the bushes and waited as the source of the glow seemed to get closer. That's when I saw it. A grotesque humanoid figure floating just above the ground, dragging its legs unnaturally. It seemed to have two faces, one on its head, one on its chest. It got closer. I held my breath as it went right past me. I thought for sure I was going to die. But I didn't. After it was gone and I had recovered from my shock, I ran back to my house. My mom had heard the roar too. I explained what I had seen, then we grabbed our cat as well as some necessary items and made a run towards Moonridge. I kept checking over my shoulder as we ran to see if the thing had followed us. We were very scared and maybe my mind was playing tricks on me, but I could have sworn I saw some cloaked figures skulking about behind the treeline. When we reached Moonridge the town was already in a state of alert. Apparently, a hero had run there and warned the town about some approaching threat and the knights and dragonlords were busy evacuating the townsfolk. We joined the evacuees and journeyed to Falconreach. There we reunited with my dad who had been helping the local guardians in fortifying the town's defense.

It's been a few months now. Darkness has engulfed everything. The ground is covered in black snow. The war has begun. I've been helping around, keeping watch, delivering supplies and messages, aiding the wounded and so on. We are all scared. I heard many towns have already been lost. Many have fallen. Many more have lost hope. The darkness is slowly eating away our morale. We don't know if we'll ever see our homestead again. We must remain hopeful. We must put our faith in those fighting for us. We must not give up.
We must not give up...

Stephen Nix -> RE: =DF= "Friday the 13th Invasion: Black Winter" War Stories (1/14/2017 14:44:51)

In our last story...

A grumpy old penguin was discovered in Dragesvard stirring up trouble, while also being along side Caitiff in the current war, and yet imprisoned by warmongers. Stephen Nix has managed to replicate himself in some retrospect and now the heroes need to take in all versions of him. Also Azan gets smacked by Star a few times and in the argument between the two of them Azan threatened to turn Star into a giant cookie. Baron Dante carves his way back into the war again and Megakyle and Dragonman make their move to exit the Falconreach tower facility.

Megakyle and Dragonman manage a way to escape their prison sentence but as they leave the tower they are instantly cornered.

OH NOT AGAIN, Dragonman whispered with an incredibly soft voice. JUST PLEASE LET US AID YOU! Megakyle looks towards Guardian Kain, look at it this way. We don't like you guys, and you don't care for us. Either way, we need to work together to get through this war. We need to work together as one.

Kain had his hands on the trigger, he wanted to send these two back to where they once came but realized, they were right.

Alright you two, we need to keep the people informed. That's where you come in. Send your TDLNND and your spy reports out to the public. Anything worth noting about the war efforts here, I want to be the first you tell, understand? Movements of the enemy and everything alike.

They both nodded.

Now to take care of this Nix problem, said Kain. So Caitiff has Nix moving towards us. We will need to effectively take on Nix as he enters n the outskirts of Oaklore. We must be prepared.

Kain took as many guardians as he could under his wing and hosted a small meeting with the lot of them.

Men *gets out his Falconreach map*, we have a situation down here. I will need all your support in Falconreach left wing. While the rose members are with Amadeus on the East we will take on Nix's forces approaching from the West.

Guardians look up in disbelief, But sir, we've lost the island and the grove. What hope do we have with the 50 of us?

Kain looks up, I've got some heroes for him.

New heroes enter the room: Chisagen, Mechajin, GammaCavy, and Vonix.

Zekrom5 rushes into the room, displaying his spectacular wave counting skills to determine the precise moment Nix will be in the open.

He tells everyone, we will need to work this side here *points at the map at the bridge connecting Oaklore and Falconreach*. If we can keep a solid monster kill count for 1 hour, we can pull out Nix and we can then flank him. *looks to the reader* And our fastest speed for this war is 1682 WPM, and our fastest speed for all recorded wars is 6060 WPM, set in the Frostval Plushie War of 2010.

Everyone looks behind Zekrom5. Mechajin asks, who are you talking to?

Zekrom5 continues, we are looking at roughly 1400 mobs rushed towards us. That's under our best, I believe we can draw out Nix and end his part in the game.

SMALL POTATOES, softly spoken Dragonman says. THE SMALL PENGUIN/NECRO THING HASN'T CHANGED AT ALL. WHEN I GET A HOLD OF HIM THOUGH, I'M GONNA USE HIS ADORABLENESS TO HELP ME WIN NEXT ELECTION--

Chisagen slaps Dragonman with a giant fish mace. Out you go, Dragonman, the humans are talking.

They waited.
They waited some more.
The horde was on its way and the Guardians and heroes stood still...waiting.

The new hero Vonix took this moment to quickly sketch out the area around Falconreach. Then with the Guardians as they posed. Next with the heroes she drew up the scaly creature Dragonman, the stealthy Megakyle, a blood thirsty warmonger GammaCavy, and two amazing friends Chisagen and Mechajin. One wields unstoppable fish odor and the other is a catapult expert marksmen. She also drew Chisagen with an incredibly ginormous head.

As she finished her final pieces, a loud, GET BACK, was hollered towards her. Vonix quickly drew out her sword and prepared for the assault.

Silence.

Silence.

Arghhhh.

Silence.

Arghhhh. (The zombies were getting closer)

Silence.

Arrrewwww. -yelled the racing undead creatures.

RAAAAAAAWR! -screamed the Guardians and Heroes.

THE HOUR IS UPON US, WE HOLD THE LINE....NNNNNOOOOOOOWWWW! Zekrom5 drew the first slice on the undead creatures leading the frontal assault.

Play this song now and return to the story.

Dragonman lashes out towards several undead and throws them across the battlefield then uses his massive claws to dismantle 3 zombies.

Chisagen starts swinging his fish weapon towards the undead horde and swats them off the bridge as they approach. Their heads are taken off cleanly by Chisagen's precision.

BOOM! A giant hammer falls from the sky! Zekrom5 smiles, I predicted this would happen in my wave count he whispers to the undead attacker and to Guardian Kain. Kain looks towards him, who? Zekrom5 cuts down the zombie and then turns around to face Kain while pointing in the sky, its D00MS, he's right on schedule.

D00MS drops from the sky and lands onto the battlefield. Did someone call for a HAMMER STORM, cause I got a few, and these undead each need to get smacked! D00MS picks up his hammer and jumps towards the horde of creatures and just starts swinging. As he swings the undead are being destroyed left and right. Leaving nothing left in this small attack D00MS picks up the hood of one of the defeated cultists and wears it with pride. He smiles for a second then rushes back in for more! Who else wants a taste of my sledge?

The guardians push forward and back to take out as many undead as possible. The heroes seem outnumbered greatly, everywhere a Guardian looks, an undead creature is near them. The undead almost seem endless as the heroes are pushed back towards the gate of Falconreach and that's when Guardian Kain points at Mechajin. Mechajin knows exactly what this means, he whispers to himself, It's...go time! Mechajin fires off the very first catapult and lands his shot in the middle of a few dozen Doomwoods and Eyeballs.

Mechajin uses his eye-scope to overlook the battle when 4 Killy Willy undead creatures try to rush his catapult but they were instantly dispatched as the Falcon's Shadow himself, Megakyle dashes through each foe with quick blows. Mechajin salutes Megakyle as the spy master nods with determination then vanishes in a smoke bomb.

GammaCavy in passionate fury unleashes her blade of destiny upon a small group of enemies while yelling, CAITIFF, FACE ME YOU COWARD! I WANT MY COMPANION BACK YOU VILE FIEND! She smashes through multiple enemies and continues to scream at the top of her lungs, I COME, WITH DEATH IN MY HANDS CREATURE!

Vonix looks back at Dragonman as he is being overwhelmed by dozens of Darkness Elementals and strikes with valor and extinguishes her foes. DragonMan looks back in disbelief. YOU SAVED ME, Dragonman seems confused. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? Vonix smiles, to save you silly, you're my friend. Dragonman smiles back and then jump kicks a zombie as it approaches Vonix. Vonix gives Dragonman the thumbs up and they continue fighting once more with the undead.

WAAAAACCCC! (ENOUGH!)

At this point the reader equips their Penguinology Glasses and can now understand the language spoken.

The final few undead creatures fall before the victorious heroes and Nix reveals himself from the overgrowing shadows.

This was not part of the plan. Nix gasped, I was not supposed to be greeted by this many heroes. Nix turned around and a tendril formed near the devious penguin. An image of Caitiff and the talking weapon appear before him. Madame? Nix said as he bowed before her gaze. The striking force here has proven to be too much for my strike team. May I activate plan 44? The weapon responds back to Nix, NO!

Nix in distrust glares back at his former employer, WHY NOT? I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE! The weapon's eyes glow red, You have failed Caitiff. And you know what happens to failure, right Nix? Nix snarls, Termination, he responds.

Caitiff then overlooks the fighters that still stand. It notices that they are worn and yet ever-so determined to be triumphant. The weapon yells at the heroes, I'm going to break all of you. One by one, I will end your suffering.

GammaCavy races towards the image as she shoves Nix aside.

Ah yes, hero, I can read you like a book.

GammaCavy asks, and what do you think I'm thinking of right now?

You wish to destroy me, correct?

GammaCavy smiles.

It will not occur. You have already lost. For what you have lost--

The ground begins to shake rapidly around the heroes.

Guardian Kain gets immediate notifications from the remaining areas standing that rumbles from under the battlefield have been felt. He thinks for a moment then looks in complete shock as fallen heroes rise from the dead. By the avatars!

--WILL BECOME MY PLAYTHINGS!

The tendril disappears then from the shadows, doom weapons are thrown towards the heroes. They land right over top the deceased and begin to rise with glowing red eyes. Fallen Guardians are now trying to eat the living Guardians. The sheer terror look in the heroes eyes remain unstable. Frozen but for a split second, the standing heroes beat down the fallen Guardians once again.

You can stop that music now if you wish.

Nix quickly waddles towards the victorious heroes and pleads for forgiveness. I did not know it was capable of such horrific deeds. Please forgive me Kain. Kain still in shock sinks low, then spontaneous anger ensues.

Kain grabs Nix by his undead nose and throws him against the Falconreach gate. YOU SCHEMING BIRD. Kain tosses him towards the casualties on the battlefield and screams in sadness. LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID TO MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS! He wipes the tears from his eyes. I'LL TARE YOU APART FOR THIS! The other heroes at this point don't know if they should protect Nix or help Guardian Kain. ITS YOUR FAULT WE ARE EVEN IN THIS MESS! Nix quivers. TIME AND TIME AGAIN, IT'S YOU THAT ALWAYS TRIES TO MAKE A POINTLESS PROFIT FOR YOUR ILL-BEHAVIOR! WELL, I'M SICK OF IT AND I'M SICK OF YOU!

Two Guardians approach Kain to try and calm him down. One member says, umm, sir, maybe we can keep it down a notch and get back to fighting the enem--

Kain glares at the two Guardians. YOU TWO! Kain directs, LOCK HIS TAIL UP NOW! THAT'S AN ORDER!

The soldiers stutter for a second, Yeeeesss Sir!

Not so fast boys, Mechajin speaks up. We will lock him up...after we take turns smacking him around.

Nix weeps.

Play this song now and return to the story.

Kain then receives news from a Guardian that resided at Sandsea, which quickly removes his temper and replaces it with sorrow. We lost it sir. The Guardian lowers his head. It's gone. The Sandsea is engulfed.

Guardian Kain looking defeated, no...we're losing everyone.

Zekrom5 places his hand on Kain's shoulder. We'll get them back. He looks Kain in the eyes. I promise.

Chisagen speaks up, we fought well everyone. We lost some good soldiers out there and we will look back on this one day. But today doesn't have to be of sorrow, today is the day we held our ground and bested what the worst had to offer. We did what we had to, in order for our friends and family here in our town to remain safe. We took down Nix and now we have Caitiff and her last general that remains. We either allow the enemy to continue their slaughter on our comrades, or we die trying to save them! The darkness is here, but we will show it the light, and on that the day will once again rise and castrate these shadows. We will not let our brothers and sisters die in vein. We...will...STAND AND FIGHT! Chisagen raises his raw fish, who's with me?

The heroes hold their weapons up with pride. Vonix shuts the eyes of one of the dead Guardians then raises her blade. Dragonman raises his hand. Megakyle nods towards Chisagen then holds his small dagger in the air. Mechajin with the penguinmancer drops General Nix into his newly formed cannon then salutes Chisagen with pride. D00MS, while struggling to remove one of his hammers stuck inside of a zombie, quickly looks towards Chisagen and waves. GammaCavy, whom still has not moved from where she saw Caitiff but has heard every word of Chisagen's inspiring message, screams FOR FALCONREACH!

Just then, a giant opening in the shadows is lifted as the mini bosses makes their move to finally annihilate the heroes of Falconreach.

The first appears to be the Baron himself. He looks up and mutters,

I've been waiting for you.

The other looks up and reveals to be Serenity,

Please don't hurt me anymore.

THE END...until 100%

The Doomed Start Coming and They Won't Stop Coming...

(Made because of a certain quest completion description for this event)

Somebody once told me that Caitiff’s gonna troll me.
She ain’t the greatest villain in DF.
She was looking kind of dumb with that axe stuck in her chest.
And her hair falling out of her head.

Well, the doomed start coming and they won’t stop coming.
Stuffed with doom weapons and they’re looking pretty ugly.
Watching her body decay to dust
As she gets even more desperate.

Pick up your sword and kill them all.
Tear through them all like they’re wet paper.
We’ll never just let Caitiff win.
We’ll keep fighting until the end.

Let’s go, we’re the Hero, pick up your sword and slay.
Let’s go, we’re the Hero, don’t give Caitiff mercy.
And shove that sword in her chest.
Make sure she regrets crossing us.

She’ll pay for what she did to Serenity.
We’ll take her down and chase away all the darkness.
She took our dragon from us for her schemes.
But we’ll get them back and end her once and for all.

The hope has drained from everyone we know.
And the doomed keep advancing and killing our friends.
The world is dark. What do we do?
We have to keep fighting and we’ll never give up.

Let’s go, we’re the Hero, pick up your sword and slay.
Let’s go, we’re the Hero, don’t give Caitiff mercy.
And shove that sword in her chest.
Make sure she regrets crossing us.

Let’s go, we’re the Hero, pick up your sword and slay.
Let’s go, we’re the Hero, don’t give Caitiff mercy.
And shove that sword in her chest.
Make sure she regrets crossing us.

The towns are getting swallowed and people are lost.
The darkness we’re in keeps on getting thicker.
We’re losing ground bit by bit.
But we have to keep holding our ground.
Until this dreadful plague passes by.

And shove that sword in her chest.
Make sure she regrets crossing us.

Daio screamed - not in pain or fear, but in rage - and pushed her arms towards the wave of charging opponents. At once, hundreds of tiny energy bullets materialised from seemingly nothing behind her and fired themselves towards the cultists, each one striking and bursting into shrapnel, before disappearing as their targets staggered, stumbled and collapsed. Daio kept firing, pouring her very soul into one huge attack, as cultists, elementals, and even her own previous allies, corrupted by evil, fell before her might.

But such an attack could only be sustained for so long, and Daio faltered. The hordes of darkness did not. As they charged, Daio would have been swarmed, had not Khera charged forward and slain three cultists with a single swipe of her scythe, before twirling in midair and landing, crashing her weapon down into the ground and sending streams of light snaking through the earth, erupting into shining pillars as they met with their marks.

Daio said nothing as she took a breath and ran again into the fray, and Khera understood: this was war, and there was no time for thanks in war. They would thank each other after the conclusion, provided they both lived to see it.

Daio had never been one for grand speeches. In fact, she had never been one for speaking much at all. Meetings often found her leaning against a wall, staying mostly silent, save for the occasional dry wit and sarcastic comment. But her resolve had never been in question, as she was always among the first to leap into battle, laughing to herself at the thought that these pathetic minions believed they could defeat her. So she did now, closing her eyes momentarily, the jewels on her gauntlets glowing bright, before her Soul Claws extended from them, ready to cut through her foes like the Blade of Destiny cut through shadow.

But before she had a chance, the cultists in front of her stopped and flinched away. Before Daio had a chance to wonder why, the answer flew past her: Haelon hovered off the ground, resplendent wings spread as she swung her weapon in all directions, cutting down her enemies with every movement, the weapon itself flashing and changing appearance, as Haelon changed its elemental alignment to strike to her quarry's weaknesses as she soared through the pack, cutting a swathe through the enemy lines.

Daio saw a squad of the things that were once Guardians preparing to fire arrows of pure darkness at Haelon, intent on clipping her wings. In response, her claws glowed, and transformed into chains that flew towards the abominations, snapping their bows and immobilising the creatures, as Daio herself charged forward and slashed at them, reducing their once proud figures to dust. It was better this way, she told herself. They weren't Guardians anymore. They weren't her friends anymore. She was doing the best thing for them, setting them free. It was better this way, she told herself, and a small part of her almost believed it. Almost.

She felt a humanoid shape collide with her, and she whirled around, ready to strike, before identifying the figure as Koko, and realising that, in her distraction, she had allowed herself to become surrounded. She and her fellow fighter stood back to back, weapons poised, tense in anticipation, mixed with the pervading fear that they may not make it out of this alive. As their enemies charged, they slashed and parried and thrust and blocked and kicked and dodged. They received wounds, and dealt more, until Koko, fist blazing, punched an opponent, obscuring the two in smoke, allowing Daio to grab him and teleport them both high into the air. As they began to fall, their eyes met momentarily and they instantly understood the plan. Falling, they focused themselves, and, landing where they had just been standing mere seconds ago, slammed their weapons into the ground, producing shockwaves that obliterated the closest of their attackers, and sent others flying through the air. Daio and Koko, however, gave no quarter, dashing in opposite directions in pursuit of their repelled targets.

The battle raged. The heroes of Lore fought tooth and nail against the forces of Darkness that threatened to snuff out the light. Caitiff watched from a distance, seeing its army pushed back again and again, only to surge forward with endless reinforcements. Caitiff watched from a distance, the thought of the towns already covered in darkness filling its mind with something akin to pride. Caitiff watched from a distance, and planned how best to destroy the heroes who stood in the way of her conquest, the heroes who defeated her servants time and time again, the heroes who could not hope to hold out much longer.

Caitiff watched from a distance.

A Little thought about the Mini Boss

As you get closer from the last shadow, determined to get rid of it, your finger get loose.
Paralyze, you look at what was once a beloved friend.
Remorses are making surfaces, blinding you, making you question what is just and what must be done.
Your body move on his own, inconsious of your surronding and yourself.
As you take back consciousness, you're doing the final blow.
The last thing you see, a face clouded in the dark, whispering for help, with her hands close, praying to you, as she fade away.
The flashback hurts from seeing that face.
You feel sick, sad and lost but you promise yourself to never let something like this happen again.
As you walk back to Falconreach, you make a oath on her memories to never let her down again and to destroy what it have become.

ORB NAPING
I felt their blood pumping in their veins but it is imposible for dead to have a blood pressure. No that i cared alive, dead what is point in caring? All what is important is money for each one of these weapons.
-What idiot wanna them anyway?-I thought to myself. Must be some weirdo who like dark items. I meet such guy one and ironically he was my best friend. Good thinks this orb want to rebuy them. And pays good!
-It is safe now?-I looked behind myself. There was some weird guy with a coat and a fur on his shoulders. He is weaponless but have sick gloves. Maybe he is one of these weavers whose i heard much about?
Being honest i do not understand these guys. Instead of figting using magic they use it for something mundane as weaving? Their life must be boring.
-It is safe now?-The guy asked again.
-Yes... It is safe. At least i think so as there no more bodies to reanimate. Expect you of course.
-No thanks i do not plan on becoming a living weapon. At least today. My name is Greyor_42 mister.
-What? 42? Your surname is number?
-And is something wrong with that?
-No.. of course not. Forthee tuu! Hahaha! Sorry...sorrry..-I barely contained laughter.-Ann Lacroix by the way. Nice to meet you.
-Its my pleasure.-He bowed but slipped on snow and tripped.
-Here...-I gave him my hand.
-Thanks.-He got up and cleared his coat from snow.-This black snow is gross.
-Its cute remembers me of home.
-In your home it is snowing black snow all the time?
-No... unluckily... but i say we have... a... infernal problem...
-Oh...
-Yeah... By the way.-I kicked one of those DOOM daggers lying on the floor.-Why are here? Should you not be in Falconreach?
-It's boring, everyone just shivers and panic as i heard of these undead i knew i need to travel here to see them. Weapons as army? Ingenious!
-Are you some sort of scientist?
-No. I just always dreamed of see all this so called DOOM! I read everything about Sepulchure, Mysterious Stranger and DOOM weapons. In my country this all is just urban legends. OH i can see a envy on my friends faces when i show them one of those cuties.
-Well here you can buy DOOM weapon like a candy, VERY dangerous and expensive candy. This orb over here sells them.-I pointed at... air? Where it is... i talked to it literally ten minutes ago.
I checked the place where it stood. There was still uncovered part of grass where it was a while ago.
...
This good in hood still stood before me.
-Where are the weapons?-He asked me.
-Why should i tell you? Im just and orb! Sentient one but hey! I can not even scratch my back. Why would i need DOOM weapons?
-Because right after disappearance of Mysteriuos Stranger you took his place. he loved DOOM weapons so do you... Who was even you maker? This weird shaggy guy talking to his socks?
-I have an honor... I would never let him create me...

Stephen Nix -> RE: =DF= "Friday the 13th Invasion: Black Winter" War Stories (1/18/2017 23:19:59)

In our last story...

Nix was spotted in 3 areas at once. One in Dragesvard (Old Man Nix), one as a General for Caitiff (General Nix), and one as the Fear penguin (Fear Nix). Two down, one to go as the General cowardly gave in and was detained by Guardian Kain. Caitiff proved to be a worthy foe and summoned an image of itself and summoned its last generals (Serenity and Valrith). The heroes had just fought off a horde of 1000 monsters, and then the two generals fell. But if you've played the game, you'll know what happened next.

Silence as Serenity Mirage fades away.

All heroes withdraw their blades as the small victory is had. For about 5 minutes, everyone simply takes a moment to remember what Serenity once was.

DOOMS remembers when Serenity loaned him some money to pay for repairs in his armor after the Chaosweaver War...well that and the Moglinberry kegs he received. He smiles. Then he moves onward to battle more undead.
Chisagen remembers all the fish weaponry she saved for him during the last Friday the 13th. He nods his head in thankfulness.
GammaCavy charges onward furiously swinging her weapon through the shadows to make her way towards Caitiff itself.
Dragonman prepares for his TDLNND and Megakyle creates his interview with the people of Falconreach over the reason why Doom Weapons should be destroyed.
Vonix carries off the injured Dragonman and goes back to helping the citizens of Falconreach.

Guardian Kain is lost with words. At this point, he just wants to be by himself. He knows however of his responsibilities to the people of Falconreach and presses forward with his new team.

TheFarReach, Commander_In_Red, Dornalca, and Mechajin quickly shake hands and meet up with Guardian Kain for assignment.

Kain looks to them with such defeat and says, "We have some soldiers being held prisoner by Caitiff's forces. I'll send you all off by the dozen or so Gryphons we have stored to get to the castle to free them and bring them back to Falconreach. We need these soldiers. Do hurry though, something seems off around the people of Falconreach. I can't suspect what just yet, but I'll continue the investigation."

Kain moves forward but not before giving Dornalca a mini map of what the castle looks like from the inside and the coordinates to get there. "You're in charge Dorn, now crew, get to it!" Kain points them off the direction and continues to his tent for a quick rest.

The heroes wave to the townspeople when given the chance to let them know that they are taking care of the war. Some waved back, others closed the door in fear.

They take the dozen Gryphons to the castle outskirts and make their way towards the outside of the castle, just outside of Doomwood. The dark castle isn't very wide or tall so navigating through it, shouldn't be so complex.

Commander and Dornalca storm the front entrance with minimal effort, fending off a few dozen undead. Mechajin prepares a mini launcher weapon and a catapult of some sort and TheFarReach guards the perimeter of the castle until needed.

Commander looks to Dornalca, "This seems a little too easy. Few cultists and few ghosts here and there, but overall this seems off. I feel like we are at the wrong place." Commander uses his glowing yellow Soul Claws to slice through a zombie.

"I get what you are saying Commander, I do, but these are the correct coordinates. The prisoners are just up ahead." Dornalca hacks through another two Cultists and presses forward.

An echo is heard in the hallway.

"HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP USSSSSSSSSSS!" It repeats a few times over.

The two enter in the door at the back end of the castle and open the door slowly. Dornalca looks back at Commander, "Stand guard here at the door, I don't want to get stuck in a room because of sneaky undead that lock us in here. I'll tell you of all that's inside."

After a couple of minutes, she reports back to Commander with a blank look on her face.

"Annnnnnnnnd?", Commander says.

Dornalca shrugs, "The room looks like a science lab with chemicals, vials of creatures and A GIANT UNDEAD BEAST some notes on the tables, toxins--"

Commander stops her. "Um, what was that part about the undead beast?"

"RRAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRR!"

The door smashes and Dornalca and Commander dash out of the room to escape the beast towards the front entrance. The chase is on as the undead creature stomps quickly towards the two in the hallway. Dornalca and Commander manage to make enough room between them and the creature as two doors are present at the entrance gate.

"THIS WAY!", they both shout. They look at each other, "NO THIS WAY." They each have a door they think is safer and enter inside just as the beast arrives to smash them.

The creature ponders for a quick second on whom to kill first.

In Commander's room you hear him repeating to himself. "Please, not me. By the avatars, don't pick me!" It sniffs the door, yet moves forward.

In Dornalca's room you hear her repeating to herself with her blade drawn. "Pick me, pick me, pick me!" The undead sniffs the door, yet moves forward to just on the other side of the front gate door where the two originally entered into the castle. It scratches its head with its back turned to the door.

You can probably guess what happens here...

CRASSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH! The undead beast on the other side of the door breaks up into dozens of pieces as a cannonball comes from one of Mechajin's catapults.

Dornalca and Commander open their doors and slowly peak out to check on what occurred to the creature, and they see about 100 meters out, Mechajin waves from his newly setup catapult. They look to each other and shake their head.

They both say, "Only Mechajin could make a catapult from nothing." Dornalca continues, "How does he always do that?" Commander shrugs, "Does it really matter?"

Dornalca changes the topic, "I think we need to check out our rooms and find the prisoners. Call the others, we need to investigate thoroughly."

All heroes meet up in the first room on the left where Commander hid from the beast. In Commander's room, they see a giant glass window, peering out towards a torture chamber with blood and scratch marks on all the walls. TheFarReach examines the room for any hidden secret switches.

Mechajin looks at him, "What are you doing man? Not all villains believe in secret passage ways you know!"

TheFarReach ignores Mechajin at first but then responds, "In every book I've read over spooky castles, there is always a painting, or a false wall that leads to a hidden room."

Commander disagrees as he sits down for a moment in one of the desk chairs by the far wall, "No way would Caitiff be smart enough to make a trap door or whatever."

Dornalca yells for the prisoners, "IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF AID, PLEASE SAY SOMETHING!"

The room goes silent as everyone listens.

Mechajin speaks up, "See guys nothing around here--

"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP USSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!" The voices were louder than before.

Dornalca looks at the team. "We're getting closer. I can feel it." She begins looking around the room more intently.

Commander speaks up, "I agree with Mechajin. Clearly there is noth-- *just then while leaning back in his chair against a wall, Commander falls right through it* ing! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

Commander falls through the false wall and reveals the secret passageway to the prison cells where heroes of all sorts are chained against their will.

The rest of the team rush down to help Commander and the prisoners to remove their shackles.

The team smashes the restraints and helps the small group of 6 people to their feet. Dornalca asks the first two members of the group who they were.

A tall light blue Dragon Warrior stands, "Dragon_monster. Thank you for helping us.", he responds.

The other steps forward the Time Killer speaks up, "My name's ChronoEye."

A third speaks up, "Well, miss my name is ummm....ahhh....I don't remember.", the Master Soulweaver exclaims.

Dragon_master glares at him. "Greyor_42, you were literally just placed in here yesterday by the cultists."

Greyor_42 scratches his head, "Oh yeah! Right. Sorry about that." He smiles greatly.

TheFarReach quickly asks Greyor_42, "So what happened to the other 41?" Greyor laughs, "Funny you should ask--" Dragon_master smacks him across the face. "I'M SO DONE LISTENING TO THAT STORY!"

Dragon_master continues, "These two are Swordhaven knights: Sir Cared and Sir Vived." Sir Cared interrupts, "That's Sir S Cared to you, hero." He looks away from the group in disgust. Sir Vived shrugs.

"Lastly, I'm sure he needs no introduction." He points to Artix Von Kreiger.

Artix nods, "Thanks for the help everyone. I'm guessing Guardian Kain sent you guys?"

Dornalca responds while trapped gazing at Artix's eyes, "Whatever you say Mr. Artix sir."

The group stops talking/introducing themselves among each other and stare at Dornalca in disbelief.

"Um, I mean, yes sir. Kain sent us to evacuate any prisoners in here. She looks up to Artix and smiles. It's good to see you again sir." Artix agrees, "It has been ages since I last seen you Lady Dornalca! Let's get out of here and we can catch up on your undead scores."

Artix leads the group outside as each member prepares for the flight back to Falconreach through the flock of Gryphons. As they get to the last few members, Artix spots a small group of cultists returning back to the castle from a distance and rushes off the other heroes.

Commander yells at Artix, "HEY! LET'S GO ARTIX!"

He shakes his head and urges the group to continue on without him. Artix shouts, "I NEED TO DEAL WITH THESE UNDEAD...he whispers then to himself, and I need to smash more undead to increase my wave count." He looks at Dornalca, "Another time then?"

As Artix chases down the frightened cultists, the group flies off towards Falconreach. And as you might of expected, Dornalca is saddened that her trip with her mentor Artix is shortly abrupt.

As they approach Falconreach they notice something in the distance. Smoke.

Mechajin says in terror, "Falconreach... IT'S ON FIRE!"

Play this music here and continue the story...

The heroes overlook their town in fear as the gulfs of fire were spreading everywhere across the city.

Without thinking twice Dornalca takes command and yells out to her friends, "TAKE OUT THESE FIRES! GET THE PEOPLE TO SAFETY! HURRY! MOVE OUT!"

The scene then changes to the overlook of the town of Falconreach and its events,

Rose members aiding the Guardians to extinguish the flames.
Captain Rhubarb, Chisagen and Maz lead people from the docks to the fires in a hurry.
Dragonman grabs 2 injured citizens from the healing tents, and has another hold onto him from the back of his neck as he rushes them to safety.
General Nix quickly swifts his way around the town to get to the heart of the city without being noticed.
Chaos and screaming are heard from every direction.
Mechajin rushes from his Gryphon that lands on top of Falconreach Guardian Tower and provides gunfire as he climbs back into his cannon to push the remaining enemies from entering in the city. He fires at all directions from the rooftop
Vonix is helping out a handful of Guardians whom were trapped in the museum. She then provides the Guardians with cover as she leads the team onward without her as she goes facing down a handful of cultists.
TheFarReach pours water over Greyor_42 who set himself on fire somehow while trying to save the animals at Aria's pet shop.
Nythera finally shows herself and aids a small group of citizens whom were surrounded by zombies. She picks them up as a group and throws them off the pier of Falconreach hill.

Dornalca, ChronoEye and Dragon_master make their way to Guardian Kain who is on one knee, out of breathe from all the smoke he's endured.

"Where, have you guys been?" He gasped. "The fires," he points to the North side of Falconreach, "they started that way!"

ChronoEye, looks him in the eyes, "WHO DID THIS?"

Kain musters up a response, "Cultists that snuck into Falconreach. GO....NOW!"

The three run as fast as they can towards the North side, except ChronoEye as he has stopped and is gasping for air. Once the other two notice that he's not following they go back to him.

"This is all my fault," he says in forgiveness. He chokes on the smoke and falls over. "If I had told you guys about the cultists plan while locked up in that prison, this wouldn't have happened. I should've told you guys this earlier. I was in the holding cells the longest when I heard them planning this." Dragon_master offers his hand to pick up his friend.

"Don't say that Chrono, we are in this together." Dragon_master looks toward Dornalca, "They must've gotten past The Skeleton Crew. Before I was captured, we were in charge of the landing area of Swordhaven and certain points of Falconreach. The North was one we shared with the Guardians."

Dornalca waves them over in a hurry, "It doesn't matter now, we need to push forward."

Play this song and enter back in the story...we got a final battle to face!

They eventually make their way towards the North as they spot General Nix preparing a reanimating ritual near the top of the cliff, just out of Mechajin's sight.

Nix smirks as he is spotted by the three. "So it's come down to this. I mean, come on, turn around!", he taunted.

They ignore him. Dornalca takes out her Blade of Destiny and holds it steady. ChronoEye equips his Ratchet Bows and aims them at Nix. Dragon_master equips his Doom Blade and stands ready.

"DO IT", Nix shouts. "TURN AROUND AND LOOK AT WHAT WE'VE DONE TO YOUR PRECIOUS FALCONREACH."

Nix describes the scene anyways. "The undead are all over the town, and citizens are trying their best to hold them off best they can. How sad. Warmongers are getting tired and all that's left is a few small sprites to battle against me in a game of endurance? How...tragic."

"It ends here Nix." ChronoEye exclaims.

"Yes it is, my friends for you of course. Isn't that right Caitiff?"

A small portal is shown and outcomes Caitiff with just her hand as she touches the ritual circle. She returns into the portal but not before allowing some of her magic to bestow upon Nix.

"NO!" The three heroes race to get to Nix before he can finish his spell but he points to them and as his eyes glow bright red, he summons 3 Deadwood's to grab them from under the ground to hold them into position.

"Nothing will stop her plans now!" Nix begins to levitate and hovers towards the ocean level where Fluffy's remains lay. Nix yells, "LETS HAVE SOME FUN WITH THIS ONE, SHALL WE?"

General Nix does the impossible. He uses his ritual spell to resurrect a fallen foe of the heroes. Fluffy begins to once again rise and flap its ginormous wings. It's head peaks over the Falconreach Tower as everyone in the town stops what they are doing and witnesses Fluffy with Nix on it's head flying above the city. With magic inside of his body, General Nix morphs the dragon into the Super...Mega...Ultra...Darkness...Dragon.

Once again the heroes have to work as a team to defeat their greatest foe. "The legendary SMUDD rises once again." General Nix laughs...

Play this song at this point and continue reading...boss fight!

Everyone at this time has managed to make their way towards the beast and attempt to bring it down. All the heroes summon their greatest attacks against the dragon but it does nothing to stop it.

Dornalca looks surprised, "Our best efforts are doing nothing to this thing."

DOOMS and GammaCavy arrive to battle and summon a hammer storm to strike against SMUDD, it lands on the dragon. It laughs back at them, "Your attacks do nothing to me humans. It unleashes a blast of fire that strikes DOOMS and GammaCavy which makes them fall back several feet. Aura Knight and Strength rush the dragon with members of the Rose, but SMUDD simply dusts off their attempt and swats them back in formation.

Cain yells out, "NOW!" TheFarReach looks towards a group of Guardian Mages and Acolytes to help summon a light spell that smashes into the dragon. "Foolish peasants, your light will not help you this battle." The dragon looks down at the heroes preparing another assault. "Don't even bother with attacking my inner light this time, I HAVE NONE!" It lets out another breath of dark fire and pushes back everyone several meters. ChronoEye leads a group to attack from the dragon's left side, Zekrom5 leads another group from the right and Mechajin fires his canon at SMUDD's face with everything he's got. Each attempt is blown away by SMUDD as he pushes each team back and sets Mechajin's canon ablaze. Mechajin just barely manages to get out of the way thanks to help from Starflame13 and Azan. Ultranx climbs into his Ancient Exosuit and joins up with Megakyle and Dragonman to attack the dragon head on. Nix removes the suit piece by piece and sends Ultranx off in the air. Megakyle interrupts his attack and dashes out to Ultranx to catch him before he falls. Dragonman is clawed down by SMUDD and as he lands down he looks at Megakyle. "THE PENGUIN HAS LITERALLY GONE INSANE!" Megakyle nudges him, "That's because that is not the real Nix, it's only one part of him."

They run off.

From what appears as every hero using their blades or magic to attack the dragon, SMUDD manages to strike back 10 times harder. "FOOLS, GIVE UP, YOU CANNOT DAMAGE ME!" Nix speaks up, "NOT WHILE I SIT HERE AT LEAST SMUDD! REMEMBER WHO'S IN CONTROL HERE!" He looks towards the heroes and townspeople of Falconreach, "SOON SMUDD WILL DEVOUR YOUR HOME! SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR PRECIOUS TOWN HEROES!"

Kain grabs a handful of warriors. "I have a plan, and it involves dethroning Nix, if we can pull him off, then we can make this easier." Zekrom5 speaks up, "It looks like Nix is helping SMUDD's defenses somehow, if we take him out the dragon should be vulnerable to strike." Kain agrees, "Remove Nix then the dragon's defenses are open, it shouldn't be able to take a full attack after we do that! I'll distract the beast!"

Kain grabs his remaining Guardians and has them lash out at SMUDD from the right, and Zekrom5, Starflame13, Chisagen and Dragon_master hold out their hands to summon a light shining rope to nab Nix off the Dragon's head. Nix notices their attempt and blasts the light rope with darkness fire and sets the magical rope on fire causing a major backlash on the heroes.

"We can't do this.", Guardian Kain fears. "How can we possibly beat this thing."

SMUDD continues to breath fire towards the heroes, he also wraps his claws around a few Guardians and Rose Soldiers and rips them apart. The heroes endure and continue the fight.

"How can we beat this thing?" Kain scratches his head.

"I may be able to aid in the manner?" A voice is heard way behind all the action. An older penguin with a monocle and skull doom cane waddles forward to Kain to show interest in the battle. He looks at Kain and says...

???: If you want these two gone, I'll need my book and fear counterpart?

Kain starts, "YOU, the penguin from Dragesvard!" Kain nods, "Yeah...I'm on it." Kain dashes towards the holding cells in the lowest point of the Falconreach Tower for the Fear Nix. He grabs him and takes the book that the older penguin needs without thinking twice.

The large penguin acknowledges the presence of the book and of Fear Nix and begins to waddle his way towards the front to confront the two.

???: I'll end this here.

General Nix and SMUDD look down as they see the penguinmancer waddling his way towards the front of the battlefield. He tosses a mage towards the waters. It then stares at the older penguin and await what it has to say.

???: General Nix, I am disappointed with you.

General Nix snarls. SMUDD prepares an attack.

???: You stretched our book's limits, for that I cannot forgive you. As for you SMUDD, you will return to your page!

General Nix yells, "OH AND WHAT IF I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT? HAHAHAHHHA!"

The Old Penguin turns around and faces the heroes.

???: Thank you for your valor. I apologize for what my spawn has done. He foolishly got a hold of this book, The Black Index, and used it's powers to replicate himself into separate entities. He castrated me out once he learned I would be against his plan to work with Caitiff. A being whom has no right to be placed at the villains table. Taking the heroes dragon to use against them, that's child's play at best. Your battle is with that creature, not with this abomination. I'll stop this dragon from causing more chaos and take it back into the pages of the Index, where it belongs!

Old Man Nix turns around. His eyes glow bright blue as he prepares for his magical transformation as he summons a quick shield.

General Nix has SMUDD breath out a blaze of fire that covers over the penguin. Nothing could stand after that kind of fire. But alas...

The Penguinmancer's Icy shield remains over the enchanting penguin.

"WHAT MAGIC IS THIS?", pleaded SMUDD.

Old Man Nix: The one that will end you.

Nix's eyes glow bright blue again and he calls upon the inner magic of the heroes and townspeople. He yells to everyone,

Old Man Nix: You may not think you have anything left to give, but you do. Your magic will send this creature back to where it once came. I ask for one favor in this time of need, hold out your hands and shout this out with me.

"THIS IS COMPLETE NONSENSE!", demanded SMUDD as he prepared to slash at Old Man Nix.

Old Man Nix throws the book into the air closed, awaiting for the call. SMUDD backs up in fear as to what will happen next.

Old Man Nix: DRAGON, RETURN TO YOUR PAGES!

The book stays in the air and begins to flip through multiple pages.

All the heroes, Guardians, Rose members, Villagers, and even small children hold out their hands to aid Old Man Nix. Guardian Kain calls out to everyone, " In 3...2....1. GO!"

Everyone: DRAGON, RETURN TO YOUR PAGES!

STOP THE MUSIC HERE!

The Black Index selects the page for SMUDD and directs a beam of darkness to wrap around the dragon and extracts its soul to carry it towards it's book page. The undead skeleton of the previous dragon falls back, plummeting towards the ocean floor once again to hopefully remain undisturbed. The book returns to Old Man Nix, and he creates an icy dome around General Nix to make sure he doesn't escape. Old Man Nix turns around...

Old Man Nix: Now where is the Fear Nix?

Aura Knight, Starflame13, Zekrom5, Azan, Strength, Ultranx, Megakyle, Dragonman, Chisagen, Mechajin, GammaCavy, Vonix, TheFarReach, Commander_In_Red, and Dornalca each help to lead out Fear Nix.

Old Man Nix looks back at everyone whom helped.

Old Man Nix: I know after we merge back I'll tell you, we will not be happy. Nonetheless, thank you for bringing us back together again. It'll be good to be whole again.

Old Man Nix summons another page from the book, and all 3 Nix's float in the air as they clash together, in a small ice explosion.

The true Stephen Nix stands before them.

Stephen Nix: *looks to his left and to his right* You may have stopped me. But I am only one small piece to this never ending puzzle. Your true battle is there *points to the Falconreach Inn* There...it awaits you.

Stephen Nix falls backwards unconscious and defeated.

Guardian Kain looks at all the heroes whom fought bravely with a smile on his face for the first time in a long time.

"Let's end this WAR!"

Everyone screams, "TO BATTLE!"

The End!

Huge thanks to everyone for the amazing war effort, you warmongers are truly one of a kind. I wanted to show you how awesome you can be, and what better way then I know how, then to create a comeback story. Want to be a part of a crazy war story like these? Wait until next war, post often and encourage the will to battle through all odds and maybe... I'll pick you!

Thanks for reading and enjoy your boss fight.

GammaCavy -> RE: =DF= "Friday the 13th Invasion: Black Winter" War Stories (1/18/2017 23:56:34)

I prowl atop the walls, surveying the last remnants of the defeated army. Just outside the ground is a morass of bloody mud and beyond that is a solid ring of craters from the improved catapult. I believe Cysero christened it the Blinding Rapid-Fire Nitroglycerin Sponge Tank of DESTINY some hours ago. Mop-up bands of warriors are retiring now, routing the last holdouts of the forces of Darkness, and I smile to see the triumph on their faces. Ash has one, Blade of Destiny shouldered, and Artix leads another, while Greyor and Cysero are cheerfully comparing notes at a loud volume while cleaning their weapons. Not even Greyor can get into trouble cleaning his weapons.
I think.
Turning away from the unsettling discussion of how best to fire Paladin Toilet Paper from the Catapult for maximium spread and aerial bombardment, I exchange a nod with Zhoom and hurry to check on Kordanna.
The ancient ship had given more to this battle than any other, tirelessly taking to he skies and intercepting the enemy fire, even as her armored sides became more and more pitted. At the time of the final rout I could swear to having seen sparking wires beneath the outer shell.
But she had insisted, stating that she had lain rusting and useless too long to hold back now, and I understand that well. Especially now, after the Ice.
Shaking away that unpleasant memory, I smile to see repairs underway, Lim and the Gnomes forging and welding under her direction. They greet me cheerfully as I pass, and I return their greetings.
My feet take me past the fire-stained walls of the guardian tower, and I shudder at the memory of the desperate flame-filled hour when we fought on three fronts at once: the invasion, the aerial defenses, and the fire. Every pyromacer on hand, including myself, had worked hard to send the fire back to our enemies, and we did succeed in moving it, but it was far to close for anyone to be comfortable with the results.
And it will be some time before anyone ceases to jump at the sight of my flaming locks.
As I pass the statue of Dememto, Yix questions if it’s time to sound the all clear, and retrieve the civilians from Ravenloss, our most easily defendable spot.
With a shake of my head I remind him of my niggling worry. “Caitiff was getting desperate in that last hour, throwing those shoddy undead cultists at us. But we know what it can do directly. Why didn’t it join the battle itself?”
He sees my point.
Circuit completed, I return to the walls, hand rising to my throat, where my Dragon Amulet and the lonely tooth hang side by side. Soon we will learn how Caittif took the dragon, Nythera swears, and I believe her.
Soon.
A shout interrupts my thoughts, and I look over to Cysero and Greyor in dismay.
Well, I think ruefully, hand rising to cover my face for a moment before I head over there to help the two of them out of their mess, at least it’s not a laundry golem this time.

SeigusDarkon -> RE: =DF= "Friday the 13th Invasion: Black Winter" War Stories (1/19/2017 3:48:50)

Note: This is non-canon of course, it's only my headcanon for what is currently happening to my character.

The black and red armored Dragonlord, armed with the Dark Frostscythe and his dragonlord shield, spun like a top, the extended blade of his weapon forming a vortex of dark magic and black metal that shredded the last remnants of the undead legion that he had attacked. Ceasing his spin only when every one of the cadavers were in pieces, he surveyed the battlefield. Artix split the skull of one of the last doomed, Nythera was annihilating a group of them with Creatioux magic, and Malgus could see his other allies destroying the last remnants of Caitiff's army. It had been a long hard war, but they weren't done yet. Malgus looked to the skies, from which the black snow was still falling. Dark clouds obscured the light, leaving only a dim, reddish gloom to illuminate the world.

He was still out there. A bone-chilling roar shook the sky, one that resonated with Malgus's blackened soul.

You are mine!

He took off, heading into the dark and empty forest littered with the corpses of those who had been killed and re-killed to many times to count. His friends called out to him, but he did not hear them, nor did he care. If Caitiff showed it's face he would take the vengeance that was due him, but for now he wanted only one thing: To reclaim what that mere shadow had stolen from him.

You are mine! He hissed through the mental link.

The roar that filled his ears in response was filled with malice, hatred, and rage.

What Malgus's allies did not know was that Decimas, for that is the only name the fools knew his dragon by now, was not corrupted. The power the dragon was unleashing was it's own. It had been a long time since the seed of Doom planted inside the then-hero/mercenary Azure and his dragon companion Brionac had fully blossomed, resulting in the completion of their transformation from the larval Doomknight known among the Order as Devourer and his darkness dragon companion: Decimas, into the Doomknight Demise and the Doom Dragon known as Destruction. Their power had continued to grow, until Destruction had suddenly betrayed him. Joining that lesser shade and unleashing his full powers against Lore. Demise had no qualms with what Destruction was doing. It would soon be up to them to bring about Lore's annihilation, just as the prophecy foretold. No, his only quarrel was that Destruction had disobeyed him. Going directly against his wishes to hide in plain sight as merciless, anti-hero mercenaries while they gathered their power for the end game. But Destruction had inexplicably abandoned that goal, and was now working with a lesser being of Darkness. This Demise would not tolerate.

He was moving faster now, his speed easily surpassing what a normal human in heavy armor with weighty weaponry should be able to attain. He heard the roar again, closer this time, and he burst into a clearing. Coming to a momentum-defying stop, he stood up straight and looked up at the sky. He could see a dark, winged shape approaching in the murky gloom. More importantly, he could sense it.

He began to change. His shield wobbled and disappeared as if it had never existed at all, even though he had blocked countless strikes with it over the course of the siege on Falconreach. His body armor began to shift and stretch like it was alive, morphing from the black to a red the color of dried blood and from metallic to almost resembling hard skin or a shell. Spikes grew from his shoulders, and the ones on the back of his black, Sepulchure-like helm reshaped and recolored themselves. His helm itself changed, his lower face vanishing completely as the helm swallowed his head whole. Normally the helm's new, archaic shape would have revealed his entire face, but for some reason there was only a seemingly endless void inside the helm, with currents of red energy undulating and rippling like waves within it. His weapon, that elegant, black scythe morphed and shifted to become a fiendish-looking, straight-bladed scimitar that was easily more than half his height. Yet he held the large weapon in one hand as if it were no heavier than a mere feather, or one of the black snowflakes still falling silently around him. His cape changed from a tattered, grayish-black mantle to a sinister deep red and black cloak that seemed to be alive. It rippled and moved softly, despite the lack of wind or movement on the part of its owner. His transformation complete, Demise looked to the sky and watched Destruction descend to land in the large clearing facing his former master.

"Why did you do it?" Demise bellowed. "What did it promise you that I haven't already given you?"

The only response was an earth-shattering scream of rage and hatred.

"You would defy me Destruction? After all I have given you? After all we have accomplished?"

Another roar.

If Demise had still had lips, they would have curled into a snarl. "So be it then! I will remind you why it is I who leads our partnership!"

Destruction's thundering howl of primal fury echoed through the silent trees. Demise moved in a blur, and the battle was joined.

_____________

Artix tore through the trees, Baron Dante, Raven, Ash, and Galanoth at his side. Overhead, Nythera flew in dragon form, watching for signs of the battle they knew would soon take place. Malgus - no, Artix stopped himself - Azure didn't stand a chance. Whatever he called himself, Artix knew his old friend was still in there. He acted tough and ruthless to compensate for all those years he lost in that icy prison, but Artix knew Azure was hurting inside. Behind them, Guardian Cain, Myron Reaper, and Endymion brought up the rear, struggling to keep up and watching for other threats. "Come on!" He urged them. "We have to catch up with Azure before he tries to fight Brionac!"

"They aren't those people anymore Artix." the Baron said, his calm, reasoning voice a counter to Artix's desperate, worried tone. "Azure hasn't been himself since he broke free from his prison." Artix shook his head.

"You're wrong Baron. I know Azure is still the same hero I've fought beside for years, he's just hurting, badly."

"Either way," Endymion hollered. "It's more important that we catch up to them instead of wasting our breath talking."

"Endymion is right." Artix said. "Forward!"

Destruction howled in pain as the impact of Demise's sword to his left cheek caused an explosion of Doom energy that sent the dragon reeling. He thundered his rage at Demise as the Doomknight dropped back to ground from his massive leap that had brought him level with Destruction's face. Corrupted darkness spewed from the dragon's horrendous maw. Demise raised his free hand, the clawed fingers of his gloves spread wide. The stream of darkness impacted a barrier, causing the air to glow a bright crimson. The darkness folded back on itself and became pure void energy. It raced back towards the dragon with inescapable speed and slammed into his chest, damaging the skin of living darkness that shrouded his physical form like armor, exposing the scales. Before the elemental skin could regenerate itself, Demise dashed forward and leaped into the air once more, swinging his sword so that it sliced at the exposed scales. The subsequent explosion of corrupted darkness made Destruction unleash a howl of pain and sent Demise flying back to land back on the ground where he had attacked from. More Doom flames erupted from his companion's jaws, but the barrier was still in place, and the wrathful creature hurt itself as much as it did it's former master.

"You are mine Destruction!" Demise's voice boomed. "You obey me and me alone!"

The response was a blast of Doom fire that his barrier turned half of into void energy and sent flying back to its source. The remaining flames he easily withstood, but not without cost to his physical coherence. Destruction was oblivious to his words. Through their link, at this proximity, he could perceive that his dragon had become focused only on annihilation. It was fulfilling its directive as the avatar of destruction, and thus had entered a state of mind where the only way to bring his dragon back to its senses was the completion of it's task, or its own defeat. If he had triggered the unlocking of its full powers through his Doom Amulet, he could easily reverse it, but he had not triggered this, Caitiff had. He cursed. That petty little shadow must have discovered the secret to controlling a Doom Dragon and created it's own Doom Amulet. It was not yet the time of Lore's complete destruction, and that meant his only option was to defeat Destruction.

He dodged the dragon's lunge as it tried to bite him in half. He responded by moving in on the creature's still extended head and performing a one-handed downward slash on it's powerful neck. The blow pierced the skin of corrupted darkness and a pillar of similar dark power erupted from the ground to engulf the beast. Demise heard it howl as its strength was stripped away by his power, and he knew now was the time.

"Come beast!" He roared a challenge. "Meet your demise!"

Destruction responded with a thunderous howl of mindless rage and attacked with tooth, claw and dark flames. Demise's barrier protected him while he levitated off the ground, channeling and then unleashing a blast of darkness that ate at his foe. Destruction kept up the assault, seemingly heedless to the damage the Void Barrier was doing to it. Demise moved in a flash, drawing on his own life force and imbuing his attack with its strength. The blow to the dragon's exposed scales left a deep red gash as the Necrotic Sword of Doom finally drew blood. Destruction howled as the skin of corrupted darkness covered the wound, no doubt trying to heal it at the cost of the host's own life force. He held his sword out in front of him.

"Come on!"

____________

Artix ducked to avoid a thick branch as the voice of Nythera slipped into his mind.

Something is going on near Doomwood. Decimas is definitely there. I can't sense Malgus but it must be him.

Azure Artix corrected.

A pause.

Sorry, Azure.

Can you pick us up so we can fly there? Artix asked impatiently.

Of course. Up ahead, a storm of violet flame consumed the forest, forming a makeshift clearing. Nythera landed and lowered her neck.

"Come on everyone!" Artix yelled to the heros behind him. "We have to save Azure!"

____________

Destruction bellowed as he poured out his wrath on Demise. When the stream of corrupted darkness ended, the barrier that had protected Demise sputtered and vanished. The Doomknight was no longer protected. Demise wasn't worried. He had many more tricks up his sleeve, and they would see him through to victory, of that he had no doubt. But one particular trick was on his mind right now. He clenched his free hand into a fist with concentration, and his grip on the Sword of Doom tightened. His rage, fury, and hatred bubbled up from deep in his core, and he felt the darkness consume him. His physical form changed. His claw-like gloves became actual claws, his cape transformed into skeletal wings, his body became that of a dracolich, bones blackened with corruption. The void of his helm morphed into a dragonic skull that unleashed a ghastly, eldritch scream. He lifted off, magic giving his skeletal wings lift. Although smaller than his empowered but battered enemy, he darted around it with the speed of a supernatural monstrosity. Every swipe, every snap of the jaws, every barrage of Doom flames missed him by a mile, while he enveloped his howling opponent in flames of pure darkness that attacked the corrupted darkness of the dragon's membrane of Doom energy like antibodies fighting an infection. Destruction let out a scream as the darkness penetrated the ethereal hide.

The energy of his attack exhausted, Demise landed and morphed into his humanoid form as he watched his dragon battle his attack. Behind him he could sense Nythera and the rest approaching, and Destruction's ghostly carapace had successfully repelled or absorbed the darkness. His companion screamed in fury at him, and Demise knew he had done all he could. If he had more time to use his full powers he could break Caitiff's control alone, he was certain. But it would not do to be seen like this. As Destruction prepared to attack, Demise let his form slip back into the cold, hard, black metal of his Dragonlord armor. The Sword of Doom mutated into the Dark Frostscythe once more, and his cloak of living Doom became a tattered gray mantle. His empty helm took shape and the blackened visage of Sepulchure, with shadowy tentacles and spikes emanating from the helmet's rear, became real. As he saw Nythera appear over the treetops, Malgus dropped to the ground in a defensive stance, surrounding himself with a dome of pure darkness just as Destruction unleashed the fires of Doom upon him.
