I prefer map-based puzzles, so I'll go with option 2.

I cal tell you right now I hated the Arcangrove puzzles to the point I quit AQw for a few years. Also that darn lock on the gate that get in the way of Nulgath farming. So please avoid those. I kinda liked the mirror puzzle in tower of morrirs though.

sucks that we can't just skip to the bosses in those areas anymore though the map. that was one of the changes to the map interface that i never liked nor understood why it was removed to begin with

Hints/Clues are definitely my favorite. I love figuring out things on my own. If people can't find the answer, there can be some kind of "hint" system where an NPC tells you the answer.
The Necromancer puzzle in the Tower of Doom was one of my least favorite ones--I spent hours on YouTube trying to figure it out. Map-based puzzles aren't really my thing.
Minigames can get tedious sometimes, although I liked the one in the Tower of Mirrors (where we had to put the broken mirror together).

I always hoped that there would be some kind of ARG event for AQW. These types of events are really interesting and have so much potential for our community.

What does ARG stand for?

interesting idea of ARG. The release of the hunts this week is what alina has been talking about?

Christophoses -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/1/2017 15:24:43)

An ARG is basically a puzzle/hunts that extends beyond the borders of the game. It involves players deciphering codes, solving puzzles, finding clues in the real world, and/or a series of other events. It usually requires a great amount of collaboration from members of a fandom in order to solve.

Some notable ARG events are the following:

- Gravity Falls: Cipher Hunt
- Overwatch: Sombra ARG
- Destiny: Owl Sector

I was part of, or followed these ARG events and I can honestly say that it was a magical experience. Watching people from all over the world come together and solving these mind breaking mysteries is breathtaking.

An AQW ARG would not only unite members of the community, but it would be a super fun experience. Participants could sign up on a website to qualify for a badge, there could be a prize for players at the end, we could further explore certain strands of lore, and so much more.

I have a few ideas for an be AQW ARG but sharing them would be pointless if nobody is interested.

Doxus the OverLord -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/1/2017 16:55:37)

@Christophisis
Can you talk a little bit more about ARG? I'm getting interested in it.
If wanted you can come by PM.

Sebastador -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/1/2017 17:17:54)

@Christophisis
I'm interested in that idea, maybe can send me a PM to me too.

@ above ×2 & above

What do you guys want to know about it? I'd be happy to share more information.

Loftyz -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/1/2017 23:36:30)

The new server update will probably bring more functionality, expanding what you can do for puzzles.

But for now, what's wrong with quests that give clues for an item in their quest description, and require you to figure out what item it is and go get it? Something like the scavenger hunt thread that was on the forums here, but I can't find anymore. It could tie it into the lore as well. Let's say.. "More bugs were found in the Cathedral of Time, and items from all across Lore are being corrupted. Find clues from whatever uncorrupted information the Data Stations can offer, and track down the items. First 50 to solve get access to a rares shop."

goldslayer1 -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/1/2017 23:48:58)

I'm not a fan of "puzzles" with how AQW has implemented them.
I think once you do the puzzle, it shouldn't have to be repeated.
A big example of this is the gate at Gilead. I dont wanna have to do the puzzle every single time I wanna get to mana elemental.

Sebastador -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/2/2017 4:50:37)

@christophisis
The People & how was comunicating.... or where, Example of Clues, Example of How they do it...

Bailey Hudson -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/2/2017 9:51:48)

@goldslayer1
I agree but i think some of the puzzles should be repeated too, whenever you wanna enter it's room, like how it works in Bank HQ , Government Security Rooms on irl, they always type the code before entering.. [:)]

And of the main types of puzzle challenges, which do you guys prefer... and why?

1) Clues / Hunts
2) Map-based puzzles
3) Minigames like Minesweeper
4) Other (reply with more details)
...and just like that, I vote no. I HATE Minesweeper. I haven't played it 24/7 when I could. I played it rarely, but at all, yes. After a few years of not playing it and having to play it in another game to unlock the rest of it, it was torture. If I wanted to torture myself, I would sooner listen to One Direction and Justin Bieber on repeat, and I hate them, too.

I'd prefer puzzles that aren't luck based thank you very much...

Aura Knight -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/2/2017 14:24:57)

Sometimes map based puzzles can be okay but I wish we would steer clear of ones similar to those we had to do in arcangrove. Especially in the mudluk map. Even now I have no clue how to do that puzzle. And if we do have map based puzzles, it would be nice if they're just one time things.

Hints/clues that put us in certain locations or point us to a certain monster are fine as long as the clues aren't completely vague. If an older player can't figure them out, there's likely little chance someone newer will.

Something unique that I wouldn't mind seeing is a clue that is affected by our equipment. If we wear specific items, the clue could either get easier or harder. This is inspired by the chest in zazul's house where we apparently had to have certain things equipped to open it, but seems that wasn't actually a thing. Still, I think it would be interesting enough to try something like that. Would it be completely fair for everyone? Probably not, but it's not as if it needs to be a requirement. As long as the clues are at least somewhat helpful, most hunts/puzzles should be fun.

Hidden quests would be pretty fun to see too. Can't wait to see how this weekend's hunt goes. I just hope it won't make me hate puzzles.

NovaBlaze -> RE: =AQW= Puzzle releases that make you think: Yes/No? (2/5/2017 22:00:58)

As long as it's not hell, I'd say yes, cool :D
