Shiny_Underpants -> How does the post count function? (4/8/2018 15:11:12)

I know deleted posts are supposedly not counted in the post count. However, there's a disconnect between existing posts and the post count; according to the search function, and using my own profile as an example, I have 235 posts currently up in all forums, but my forum post count reads 1311. I know I've posted well upwards of 2,000 overall, so there's clearly some reduction there.
So I wanted to know, what exactly is the post count... counting? Is there some record of posts that is deleted after a longer period of time than the auto purge?
