NDB -> Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/1/2018 20:53:31)

The Buy Back Shop is returning certain Promotional Items that were never purchased. I believe this is a result of a SINGLE Promotional Item purchase date qualifying for MULTIPLE Promotional Items that were available during that time frame. This is a bit complicated to explain, but I’ll try to do my best.

Starting with the Bionic Battlegear Promotion (3/10/12), new Promotional Packages were released without old ones being removed immediately. In other words, multiple Promotional Packages were overlapping in the time frame that they were available. For example, from 7/6/12-8/24/12, the following Promotional Packages were SIMULTANEOUSLY available for purchase: Bionic Battlegear, Delta Knight, and Infernal Interdictors. Now, this is where the Buy Back Shop gets bugged. If a player, for example, purchased ONLY the Bionic Battlegear Promotion between 7/6/12-8/24/12, then both Delta Knight and Infernal Interdictors would also appear in the buy back shop despite never having purchased these items, because the date that the Bionic Battlegear was purchased QUALIFIED FOR ALL THREE promotional packages. This is just one example, but the same principle applies to other similar combinations of overlapping promotions, such as Delta Knight, Dragon Buster II + Dragon Slayer, and Platinum's Pride, all available between 9/27/12-2/5/13. A player that purchased just Platinum's Pride during this time frame, for example, would also receive the other two packages (Delta Knight, Dragon Buster II + Dragon Slayer) in their back buy shop, and vice versa.

I cannot confirm 100% if this is the correct explanation for the problem, but it appears to be the case. One thing is for sure, many players, including myself, have received Promotional Items in the Buy Back Shop that were never purchased on that character.

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/1/2018 21:00:45)

And I'm still missing an item I bought during the infernal war.

NDB -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/1/2018 21:39:49)

I am also missing Beast Rider and Warbot armors that were purchased with varium. Albeit, they are not very valuable to me because they are not permanently rare, but it shows that the shop is bugged.

Mother1 -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/2/2018 0:00:43)

I noticed it as well. i didn't by the dragon buster II or the male dragon armor yet in my inventory for the buy back I see these items.

NDB -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/2/2018 0:12:20)

@Mother1
I’m guessing you purchased either the Delta Knight and/or Platinums’s Pride Package between the dates of 8/24/12-2/5/13?

Nightwraith -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/2/2018 13:26:44)

The OP is correct. It is possible if you purchased during overlapping promotions you could qualify for both in the Buy Back Shop. In order to allow promotions from before 2013 into the Buy Back Shop for anyone, the only data we had to go by was whether or not you purchased a certain amount of Varium at a certain time. I wish we had better tracking on the items in promotions at the time so we could have been more granular, but since purchase dates and quantity were all we had this was the solution we arrived at. As I said, the only alternative was locking out promotional items. I can update the FAQ to reflect this possibility.

As for the specific cases of the missing items mentioned, the shop looks for receipt logs for items purchased in game. A receipt is generated every time a Varium transaction happens whether it's a point of purchase, upgrade, or sellback. I've researched the accounts and couldn't find receipts for the particular items. The only exceptions I could think of in which an item wouldn't generate a receipt is if there were a way to acquire the items through other means, like as a prize, drop, mission reward, or purchased with credits.

I hope this answers some questions about issues you're seeing. If you have any items you see missing that you would like me to research, I can do so.

Mr. Delector -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/2/2018 14:28:51)

Can you please check Mr. Delector for Frostbane and if any other items from Gamma are missing? @Nightwraith

BetaEnthusiast -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/2/2018 14:35:02)

Can you please check if Beta Enthusiast has any bikes missing from Beta? I can't remember if I got them, but believe I got varium when they were out

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/2/2018 14:59:54)

I've emailed the help team about missing an armor, they looked for the receipt and said it was not found.

However, they do have a purchase in the wrong year (said I bought a sword during the infernal war that didn't come out until one year later in Omega), which means the database isn't all correct. I'm sure there's nothing you're going to do about this, but the database is not perfect...

I recall that I have had the Heavy Mechachillid armor and in fact the blades that I used with the armor is also in my buyback shop, but for some reason there is no receipt for the armor, which is strange.

With what Machaon said with his armors and stuff, I believe the database missed things and at least misplaced one of my items into a different year (maybe replacing the Armor I purchased that month).

EDIT: Seems by asking other people as well, they are not receiving their Heavy Mechachillid armor back in their buyback shop.
Anyone else can confirm?

Heavy Mecha Armor

Nightwraith -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/4/2018 0:20:31)

@Mr. Delector - We added Frostbane to the list of promotional items today so it should be available in your shop if you got it with the promo (November 24, 2010 - January 28, 2011
Frostbane).

@BetaEnthusiast - I did not find any Varium purchase records around the time the Screaming Eagle and Marauder Bikes were offered (July 2, 2010 - August 4, 2010 and June 4, 2010 - July 2, 2010 respectively).

@.Lord Ginger. - I asked Titan and he couldn't think of any reason a particular item would be excluded. There are also some items with multiple ways to acquire them without generating a receipt which could account for some items not showing up. Tracking has definitely improved over time, and it's possible some items might slip though the cracks. Unfortunately, if the old data is fragmented or tracking missed certain items, there's no way to rebuild it retroactively. I am curious if there's anything in common with the items people aren't seeing.

Mr. Delector -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/4/2018 6:06:37)

Thanks a ton Nightwraith! [:D]

BetaEnthusiast -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/4/2018 6:25:52)

Thanks for checking :)

Digital X -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/4/2018 6:39:18)

Would it be possible for you to check my character (under avvy) to see if he bought BOTH Egg Guns, or just the Physical? I swear I had the Energy version too but my memory is quite bad and getting worse, thanks. Nothing major, mind.

Egg Laser I think was the name, bought from Cinderalla.

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/4/2018 16:51:54)

@Nightwraith

Is it possible to do a thing where if you bought varium during the infernal war to be able to have the armor in thy buyback shop? It's a thing similar to the other promotions. Would rather have the people who didn't get the armor get the armor then people who had the armor not get the armor.

I talked to two players and they said they don't have the armor in their buyback shop, I don't know if you can check if there are any heavy mechachillids in anyone's buy back shop (because it seems people don't have it), but I bought the armor from the mechachillid just inside the infernal mines, (the 15 if I recall correctly.)

Nightwraith -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/6/2018 15:20:55)

@.Lord Ginger.

That's a good idea! I can update the shop with expanded rules to cover the Infernal War, Frysteland War, and perhaps some other limited events. I'll update here and on Twitter when it's done.

@Digital X

I checked and could only find the physical version (Egg Gun). Even if it's a fault of the system, I'm not too worried since it's a seasonal item.

UPDATE: I've expanded the ruleset to include the Heavy Mechachillid Armor, Super Mecha Cannon, Super Mecha Laser, Super Mecha Disintegrator‎, and the Super Mecha Launcher‎. The Beast Rider and Frost Reaper armors also included for players who bought 10k Varium around the first Frysteland War, in case they weren't tracked at the time.

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/6/2018 17:13:50)

@Nightwraith
I did buy the 2500 varium instead of the 10,000 varium package, so I can’t get anything, and I think others did as well, so if there’s a possibility to update this again, that would be great.

BUT I do appreciate this for those who did, thanks for what you’re doing with the game! Best of luck!

EDIT: The guns and armor were purchasable for 995 varium, so I do feel like anyone who bought over 1000 varium should be able to be eligible for this.

Daph Duck -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/6/2018 17:38:51)

Great buyback shop updates thanks nw, i got my marauder bike back.

NDB -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/6/2018 22:54:13)

I agree that a total purchase of 1k Varium or greater should be ellegible. However... By that coin, the only truly fair way to do it is to make anyone who spent, rather than bought, that amount of Varium ellegible since you could have easily bought the Varium before the time period. Obviously, the whole point right now is that there are issues with tracking Varium spent, though, so I'm not sure that this would be possible.

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/6/2018 23:34:21)

Right that makes it more difficult.

Could do it by achievements in the war, but I feel like that's just too complicated and not worth the time.

8x -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/7/2018 13:02:58)

@Nightwraith
Heavy Mechachillid (Armor) was first available for sale at M4tr1x (now nonexistent version of that NPC) in the Infernal Mines (previously named refinery). It was first only available to the Legion (owners of the Vault Breaker I achievement) and it was not colour-customizable.
Could it be possible that the id of the item was changed when the armors were later made colour-customizable and through that, the purchase records were somehow lost or hidden? (Just a random guess from looking at the history of the armor)

Nightwraith -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/7/2018 13:41:48)

Ok, I've expanded the criteria for the Infernal War items to include from 1250 up to 10k purchases. Let me know if you see the weapons showing up for you.

@8x

That's a good theory since the database conventions for armors have changed over time, but I can't find any evidence that the ID was changed. I thought maybe we sold the NPC version then swapped it for a player version when the CC was available but I couldn't find evidence of that either. Do you remember if it was offered for Credits only when it was sold to the Legion players then made Credits+Varium for the other alignment?

8x -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/7/2018 14:37:59)

Looking at the old logs of its wiki page, it has always been priced at 15000 Credits + 995 Varium (And we've always had it tagged as "varium only" item on the wiki armor listings). I don't believe there were any non-varium means of obtaining it.

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/7/2018 15:10:18)

@Nightwraith

I see these in my buyback shop.
Thank you

Digital X -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/7/2018 15:45:58)

Heavy Mechachillid!!

Oh I have missed you so dearly.

Nightwraith thank you so much :)

Also found some nice Zookas inside! Time to Mecha up.

Emperor_Blitz -> RE: Buy Back Shop Promotional Items (8/8/2018 2:19:00)

I'm missing Frost Slayer from the buy-back shop but I've received the rest of the items regarding that, such as their mutation. There are other items that I'm missing that aren't popping up.
