Burning Solstice Summer Event
Part II - War Dragons

You successfully stopped Carnage’s siege of Granemor, preventing a protracted battle that could have left the whole city turned into the maniac’s minions! As you gather your allies to make preparations, the growing corruption of the Altar of War is continuing to turn more creatures into slaves of War. Is this a sign of War’s impending return... or is there still enough time to prevent it?

AliceShiki -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/19/2019 2:17:16)

Just wanted to point out that the Fire Dragon in the newslettter is not a reskin to Fire Dragons, Cray said in discord to look at his snout... I'm not sure what I was supposed to get from that tbh, his snout doesn't tell me anything, but maybe someone can make a guess of what dragon that one is?

CH4OT1C! -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/19/2019 4:01:21)

@AliceShiki: Well, the large sword stuck into it would be one thing!

AliceShiki -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/19/2019 9:31:26)

Oh... Oh... Oh.............

I really hadn't noticed the sword at all, like... It felt like part of the background to me. Truly...

Thankies~

So is this coming this week? I don't see any thing on the Home page.

stratuscone -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/19/2019 22:13:44)

did i miss anything? when was Burning Solstice part 1?

nevermind, haha it seems i really did miss last week's event.

The Hollow -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 1:10:58)

The next chapter of the Burning Solstice Summer Saga is live! With the growing corruption of the Altar of War turning Lore's creatures into slaves of War, is there still enough time to prevent the return of War?

MetalKnight -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 1:37:49)

The last boss with monster loading is stuck... i hope that issue will be fixed soon or more.

Lineolata -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 1:58:54)

Fights are Dragonreaver (3), heal, Vartai Reaver (3), heal, War Dragon, heal, Panic, heal, Dragonreaver, Vartai Reaver, heal, War Dragon, heal, then what I assume is the boss, but won't load- namely, War: Volatile Form. Everything except Panic can be nuked with enough setup. Panic has 20k+ HP at 150 and an ability where he spends his turn to be nearly unhittable. War: Volatile form has discovered the trick to invincibility by never letting us fight him.

On the lore side, I quite enjoyed the plot and dialogue of the quest. I look forward to the final cutscene(s) after the War encounter. Kudos to the staff for working on the release at such an hour- hopefully you get some good rest.

Red Blood -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 2:34:39)

I managed to get the fight to load and needless to say the fight alone is interesting and despite his burning state he seemed to hit with water rather than fire like you'd expect. The rewards look like the may play together with a fire axe and a spell that grows stronger with War's Burn(or just plain burns I guess?) it looks like from the shop menu.

Lineolata -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 2:56:52)

Double kudos to staff for fixing it quickly at this hour. War has 100% all resistances, ~6k HP at 150, and a backlash-like status where his blood sets you on fire. I don't know what he does when he gets a turn. Rewards are a melee axe, further details not known, and a spell- both fire. The spell seems to deal increased damage if the monster has the Burn status.

EDIT: The backlash/burn gets stronger every time he's hit, so War encourages you to nuke him or at least use one-hit armors. The axe has a 5-hit special, seems to be 20-proc. Art is quite nice.

Rafiq von den Vielen -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 3:22:26)

War: Volatile Form eleseeks on his normal attack. (I went in in Fallen King armor+shield on the assumption and got smacked by a Light attack [&:]) His skill is still purely Darkness though.

Still, very interesting quest and battles. Except Panic... even with his "defensive stance" he feels like a complete and utter pushover.

Red Blood -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 3:55:50)

Yup Panic kinda just made it a longer quest than it should have been, and I could only see him being an issue if you weren't doing good damage when he wasn't blocking.*

toannghe1997 -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 4:20:37)

Just played through the quest and I have to say that this one was very, very enjoyable! We get to see our old foes and allies make an appearance while many previous events/quests in the past integrated into this release. The fights remind me of the Underworld Final, where we had to fight a bunch of mini bosses before facing the big bad (unfortuanately no fully empowered/challenge War this time) which gave me a sense of urgency. Although, does this mean that a war is still coming this summer? This Solstice Saga could have been played out through several wars like those from the Underworld's and it would make way more sense than the wars from that one.

Primate Murder -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 5:02:36)

I must say, this totally didn't go how I expected it to.

I thought we would fight a defensive war, people would get divided and turn on one another - Kingdom on Kingom, Dragonslayers against Dracomancers, etc. Eventually War would fully manifest, we'll have a whole saga repeating the Unity theme, pacifying and gathering allies, then have an epic fight against a multi-stage boss with a bunch of divine powers commenting from the sidelines.

Instead, the people were quickly able to rally themselves and become allies, intelligence was gathered swiftly, and the Chosen One made a preemptive strike with the help of several Avatars before the War was even ready. That's... wow. It's almost like we learned from past mistakes or something. [:D]

Anyways, kudos to Cray for the surprising resolution, and for the sheer trolling of manifesting War without a single war!

Lorekeeper -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 9:10:43)

I'm happy that everyone's enjoying the story, and as always I'm very thankful for the team's great work in bringing it to life.

But as The Carpenters said: We've only just begun...

toannghe1997 -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 10:14:11)

@Cray by the way, does this quest offer different dialogs depending on the alignment of the Chosen? An evil/chaotic hero acting honorable and saying "my responsibility, my burden" might be weird gameplay wise.

CH4OT1C! -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 14:27:41)

With the reappearance of war, it seems like a fitting time for the update of a certain popular armour and weapon... [;)]

moe -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 15:23:26)

Anyone know what the rewards are?

Lineolata -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 15:41:35)

I recommend reading prior posts.

EternalDragonX -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 17:31:54)

am i the only one that found panic had pretty bad design? all his "stance" seemed to do was drag out the battle pointlessly.. it kinda reminded me of wyverns but those have an interesting mechanic where if u dont hit them in their stance u get blasted with a bucket load of damage. this was just annoying.

edit: aside from that, good release. felt pretty lengthy.

Sano -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 22:19:48)

How are you guys getting past the Dragonreavers?

I can't even beat the 1 Reaver in the first quest

J9408 -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 22:41:40)

@EternalDragonX Your not the only one. It is strange that he did not use the "Panic" status often.

EternalDragonX -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/21/2019 23:05:32)

@Sano yeah the first few fights in this quest were surprisingly hard lol. in compensation u get healed after each one tho. for dragonreavers head of radius dragon, earth shield and armor and u should be fine. or stun lock them. im sure there are plenty of ways to beat em.

@J9408 20k hp doesnt help either...

Lord Markov -> RE: =AQ= Burning Solstice Part II - War Dragons (6/22/2019 1:31:35)

It's probably worth noting the War Dragons have the ability to "break free" of immobility inducing statuses on their turn at an MP cost, so either be prepared for that by doing something like locking down their mana or use celerity if you want to nuke them.
