Ooooooooooooooh, part 6 already? Sweet, I thought we'd get a 1 week of suspense after 2 release weeks in a row... Couldn't be happier to know we'll see how it will go right away~

Primate Murder -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/1/2019 22:53:43)

The Death's Domain is an integral part of AQ, and we have taken for granted the fact that the Boatman will bring us back every time we die.

I'm very happy to see the idea being explored and fleshed out a little more.

CHAIML -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/2/2019 8:20:57)

The boatman needs us to keep being revived.

Death gives us back one life. We give him numerous lives in our constant battles.

Lorekeeper -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/2/2019 8:49:25)

    Does he need you revived?

    Must he revive you?

    Or is he otherwise compelled?

You are not wrong about the incentive. The way Death the horseman is sustained and strengthened, as established by my predecessor, certainly suggests it. However, is this perhaps stretched further for the Chosen? Perhaps you yourself are similarly compelled?

None of these are The Question, but they are nonetheless essential to you.

To paraphrase: That is not dead which can rise once and again, but in strange seasons, even you may die.

    J9408 -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/2/2019 9:14:50)

Are we finally going to meet him?

JanusHoW -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/2/2019 10:56:18)

Ugh, two annoying boss fights back-to-back. I hope the rewards are worth it.

The first is basically Carnage, but with Wind damage instead of Fire. Bring your Shadowfeeder Pendants and Love Potions, and Essence Orbs if you're a Guardian.

The second is a looooooong fight due to having absurdly high HP, stupidly good resistances (25% to Ice and Light) AND a soft damage cap of around 60+ at level 135 to prevent abuse of Harm/Void-elemental weapons. Keep Darkness protection on until its SP bar starts glowing, then switch to Fire protection when it does, then switch back! Failure to do so will end badly for you. Also, bring lots of potions.

WalterTM -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/3/2019 19:50:52)

So after an hour of trying, pulling out my best resistances, burning through 30 potions, I can safely say that I have no idea how to defeat the War Torn Dragon. My 0 end build might be a problem, but I would not find it fair if that was the sole issue. I've managed to get him down to roughly 8k HP so I can't even say that I was close to defeating him. Any tips?

roobee -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/3/2019 23:34:50)

    quote:

I dunno. I always viewed 0 END as hard mode, and the standard as having some amount of END.

Primate Murder -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/3/2019 23:52:00)

Well, the easy answer is to switch its resists with Rainbow Raygun, then cheese it with BoB.

Mages can make copious use of Gandolphin.

Werepyre hybrids can Panic him to reduce damage.

    Warriors... ok, warriors are screwed.

lolerster -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/3/2019 23:56:14)

I agree that warriors are screwed. I don't play warriors, but from my knowledge of warriors, it is likely it is impossible due to their limited defensive options.

Defensive mage builds with the right set up can stall out the fight and eventually win. I dunno if werepyres have the sustain/damage needed.

BTW, 0 end is pretty standard. Some people like to have a bit, but imo it's the most worthless stat.

Lord Markov -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 0:35:45)

One of the guys in discord managed to do it with a Pure Warrior so it's definitely possible. I believe he put a video of it on youtube as well. He had to use quite a few potions but it would appear outside of wingdoggo and/or Book of Burns strategies that's the norm for this fight, at least at the moment.

Definitely a very interesting boss, took me several attempts to get everything down correctly. It's a great fight for Welcome to the Black Parade though, that refrain of "carry on" feels super appropriate battling to the death against this monstrosity.

Don't necessarily want to see something like this every day, but for an occasional, well designed, and highly flavorful boss it was fantastic. Major kudos to all the staff for this and of course Cray for the quest line.

    s_venom -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 2:11:10)

    ^What is wingdoggo?

Lord Markov -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 2:16:08)

    Werepyre.

Kaizoku -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 2:21:14)

Got my School Kid this year! Another FD armor is always joy, and with such a unique skill too.

lolerster -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 2:25:54)

You can also use Astromorph with an Int misc to gain an infinite amount of mana and simply heal through it all with Shield of Insight/Gandolphin + Fairy Godmother + Healing Guest. Sounds like a bug I know, but according to IMR here, it is not.

Anyway, even if it is, drastic bosses demand drastic measures....

Lord Markov -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 2:36:57)

Considering that it's even been said the infinite resource item combo you can set up is legit I kind of doubt a loop that *only* allows you infinite MP is taboo.

lolerster -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 2:54:24)

Wait there is a method of obtaining infinite sp?

Lord Markov -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 3:17:53)

Not just infinite SP. One can obtain infinite HP, MP and SP simultaneously with the correct three items and lots of patience. Admittedly two of the three items are rare, but last I heard this loop was (oddly) condoned by the staff.

Spiritual Guardian -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 4:56:35)

Kalle was the one who beaten the dragon with 0 end and 0 int. As impressive as that was, this character had seasonals, premiums, and a R GGB aka the Solar Flair Staff equipment. So for anyone here or on discord with some extra time to try this, I decided to put down some non-rare and gold equipment below.

The same items Dragon Blade, Wicked King Plate, Fairy Godmother that Kalle used will still be in play here, but Demon Wraith Prison and Helm of Drakonnan will be in the lineup this time.

Ultimately, I want to find out if not being healed by Solar Flair Angel at all along with losing 2% in darkness and not having any, possible, out of reach equipment will allow you to win as a pure warrior. Also, try this while failing all three end stat rolls to see if you will have at least five potions left, so that even regular guardians with the worse luck imaginable can still pull off a win.

lolerster -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 8:57:26)

Based on your description, he must be runing 250 str/dex/cha with Urn of Daryngord/Paramount Shield/dragon blade/solar flair staff/fgm.

I didn't think this strat would be enough sustain through the fight, but I wasn't thinking of of Dragon Blade and potions. Still I'm surprised it only took 5 potions. My guess is that he also succeeded in the 2nd and 3rd end rolls.

This fight is not possible without a healing guest and a 1-time cost mp misc. item. At 250 CHA, the guest should be providing nearly 200 health a turn and the pet about 130ish, making the cha superior to end. Using a sp cost misc. is not a possibility in this case, because you cannot sustain the misc and the guest simultaneously.

However, there are alternatives for misc and guest. For the guest, call twilly can be used for the heal toggle. For the misc., I suggest Magma Leaf, which costs a much more reasonable 840 tokens. Alternatively, you can use Head of Raydius Dragon. Then Darkness resist might be sufficient.

Also, just found out that you can still have infinite resources with non-rares. Astramorph/Elahi Irt of Osiris/Essence Orb is capable of this, though hp recovers very very slowly.

OverLordOfDeath -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 8:57:39)

You can only nerf so much? That's my guess on it being allowed.

Spiritual Guardian -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 9:37:57)

For those who wish to see how Kalle won, here is the video and as you can see, he is running 250 str/dex/luk without any cha.

@lolerster: You misread the five potions part because Kalle didn't just use 5 health potions. I was referring to him being a x-guardian and to have at least 5 health potions remaining, not used, since as you know x-guardians can have 35 health potions max instead of regular guardians 30.

AliceShiki -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 9:42:06)

@lorester I'll see if I can try again later, but I got the boss to 2200 HP without using neither potions, healing pets/guests nor a misc without an upkeep. And that was also without the temp DB. (I used the Draconic Blade from Wyvern Rider War, which deals 1/2 as much dmg as the actual DB... Of course the difference is greatly reduced due to the boss' damage cap however.)

lolerster -> RE: Burning Solstice part VI + Back-To-School Login Contest (9/4/2019 10:22:35)

You were very close lol. You only needed a couple more turns. You should be fine with the misc and the sustain guest.

Also if you are ok with temporary weapons, I think there is a bow version of the dragon blade which is better in WKP.

Also I see he's actually running a 250 luck build. It would definitely be much easier with charisma or even end.
