I myself managed to defeat Lust with DeathKnight, as seen here, without any special items. Normal stats for your dragon, 200 in Assitance/Mischief, 1 in Fighting and 1 in Magic, 198 in Healing. Stacking Fire resistance is the key, yes. Here are my recommendations:
For weapon, any inn Weapon etc that gives + 10 All will do.
Cape: Puzzling Cards
Ring: Mega-deathly Hollow/Mazurek's Emerald Thumb Ring/Vibrant Bloodstone Ring
Helm: Hooded Greed/Scarab Band
Necklace: Sundragon Pendant
Trinket: Mirror Eye Trinket
Belt: Senior Soulthread Loop
Bracer:Legion Bracer/Any Epoch Bracer.
With these, you will have 71 Fire resistance and 16 All resistance, so 87. That will be pleanty. For Death Knight, I used anything that gives DoT's to Lust, like Soul Slash, Unholy Will, Dark Rite. No big-hitting attacks in the early match. Death Knight has great shield, so does your Dragon. When they go out, use Dragon's tickles and DeathKnight's Soul Reap. Inspire Weakness is another great one, as it lowers Lust's crit chance and makes her take more damage from DoTs. If Desirelings give you too much trouble, stun them.
