So is it possible to tell how many you have in your inventory?

Yes, actually. If you log into account management and go into the "Inventory AC" tab, you can see all your AC tagged items in your inventory (or bank), with amounts included and even if the name of the item is absurdly long. This is probably the only time it comes in handy.
