Willowofwish -> AQ Rewind 2019 (12/11/2019 11:42:34)

Another year, another delivery war coming to enter 2020. And as such, let's do another rewind of 2019. What was your favorite moments in AQ this year? For me, it was definitely the Burning Solstice saga. Awesome storyline, epic battle, and a war that will go down as one of the most exciting wars of all time!

Battle on!!

First off, I wanna say thanks to Willow for making this thread and I think the title of it is just perfect. [:D]

In terms of my favorite moments/highlights from AQ this year I would list the following:

1) Staff Challenge Gauntlet 2019. (This is based on my first few attempts running through the gauntlet, without me knowing any of their abilities)

AfterlifeX (ALX) Man, oh man. [:D] I still have some PTSD from fighting ALX when he instantly one shotted me for 10,000+ damage when I thought I could just take him out in one turn. Here's a pic I made in honor of that moment: https://prnt.sc/qaxxnf.

DragonUltraMaster (D.U.M) was the most lethal moglin I've ever faced. Sorry Zorbak, you need to step up your game haha!

Celerity mage Carandor: Just when I thought I was feeling victorious and about to get to the Rewards shop, Carandor, getting first turn, stacks a few rounds of Celerity and just completely obliterates me, sending me to Death's realm before I could even finish blinking. Carandor if you're reading this, I hope you had fun sending countless players to their deaths trying to reach the rewards shop lmao [:D] On a more serious note: Thank you for your time and dedication in making the countless item entries you've done for the AQ Encyclopedia here on the forums over the years.

It would be hilarious if we could have ALX, D.U.M, and Carandor as House Guards. It gives some players an incentive to spend more Z-Tokens forcing them to buy more [;)]

2) Void Imbue skill Back in January/February of this year when the AQ Staff were asking us what we wanted to see in the GGB Crossovers, myself and a few other peeps from the forums and on Discord used the hashtag #VoidImbueSkill2k19 to give players a reliable way to deal pure Void damage.

IMR and Kamui saw that particular conversation and decided to troll us by using our suggestion for the Void Dragon Queen challenge battle and have the "Void Imbue" status effect applied on players, having our attacks deal Void damage, however the consequences of that would do nothing but have us heal the Void Dragon Queen since Void Dragons have a negative resistance to the element.

Well played IMR/Kamui, well played.

The good news is, the "Dragonslayer Aura" Imbue from the recent skill scroll release is the unofficial Void Imbue able to be used by players as long as the monster is fully tagged as a Dragon. So it looks like we got our wish after all. [8D]

And last but not least... :p

3) Having Cray enter the AQ Team. The quest writing and storyline arcs have been a joy to play through. Cray if you're reading this, you've really put a ton of effort (and so has the rest of the AQ Staff) in the world building and continuing to enrich the lore which is at the heart and soul that makes AQ what it is.

Though Falerin may no longer be physically present with us in this world, his work and legacy will live on forever through the stories and worlds he has created, and the people whose lives he touched both online and in real life. I raise a cup of Earl Grey tea to the late Loremaster Falerin :)

Primate Murder -> RE: AQ Rewind 2019 (12/14/2019 20:49:08)

Burning Solstice Saga probably tops the list for me as well. Well-written questline using established settings and characters, the Chosen's personal growth that reflects in quite a few interactions with other folks, and interesting and unique rewards.

I liked the Moderator Gauntlet, but nothing tops the War-Torn dragon. Funnily, I beat it fairly easy on my low-level adventurer alt - and then consistently died to it on all of my lvl 150 guardians for several days on end.

GGB revamp has been a very nice QoL update that I remember fondly every time I buy a new giftbox.

The past year has also been very generous in terms of loot. Power-creep stuff like gauntlets and Frostval Past items, Bloodzerkers, blood guests and even bloodguns; stuff that fills up formerly empty niches like warrior skill scrolls and imbues; new and unique stuff for non-meta builds - Cha weapons like Astracenae and Moglin Fan, dodge items like Ghost Costume and Pig Drake.

On a more somber note, this year marks the passing of Falerin, one of the most iconic AQ writers. Rest in peace, Loremaster. You will not be forgotten.

^War-Torn Dragon - House Guard when [8D]

lolerster -> RE: AQ Rewind 2019 (12/14/2019 22:52:57)

I didn't really enjoy the War-Torn Dragon fight as much as I did the moderator challenge gauntlet. The moderator challenge had some unique mechanics that took you a few tries to figure out. Each of the bosses have very unique abilities and was therefore a lot more fun for me.

I Overlord I -> RE: AQ Rewind 2019 (12/15/2019 21:32:58)

Like the last couple of years, this year has been amazing in general as far as content goes (especially in contrast to the dearth of content in the Year of Filler Wars a few years back), but if I had to pick one thing specifically? The Burning Solstice, hands down. Only way this year could've been better was if we'd also gotten Dracopyre or Paladin or something.
