Is there a fast way to do this? On my older accounts, I got them through time by battling monsters but the game has been updated quite a bit. Is there a faster way to obtain all the pieces and then go on from there? A quest maybe?

I believe you want Travel Map -> Crossroads -> Somewhere. You'll have a small chance of getting a blade piece at the end of each run, which I believe I read somewhere (heh) has increasing odds the more runs you do. Though that last part may have just been Observer Bias.

I've been doing that almost non stop and just get potions, that's why I ask.

With my Warrior character, I had a better experience getting the pieces from the Random Battles than the Crossroads. Not once have I gotten a Blade of Awe Piece from the crossroads.

Just keep doing Random Battles.
