Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead

Hey there, heroes!

This week, it's time for Lucky Day! And it's also Friday the 13th!

Yet somehow... nothing strange has happened. Yet.

It's a beautiful day in Falconreach, perfect for relaxing with your dragon and your old friend Twilly. With no sign of an invasion, maybe this will be a peaceful Friday the 13th after all...

At least, until a certain blue moglin shows up.

What's Zorbak up to this time? Find out in this year's Lucky Day release: The Lucky Undead! This week's quest is available from the Lucky Day Storybook in the Book of Lore.

Underworld Epoch accessories have arrived!

You can purchase the new $9.95 Underworld Acessories Dragon Coin bundle to get 2000 Dragon Coins and 3 accessories: Hourglass of the Dead, Time's Harvest, and Time Reaper's Cowl! (Underworld Epoch armor and Eraglass artifact are not included).

You can also purchase the accessories from Cysero's Orb in Cysero's Superstore (all the way to the left!) for 500 Dragon Coins each.

These accessories can all be upgraded every ten levels at Cysero as well. However, if you upgrade the 500 Dragon Coin versions, their resale value will drop to 0.

What an intriguing quest... I've really been enjoying the seasonal holiday content as of late; October-March is often a busy period for seasonal events, but quests like these make the side-step from main and side story quests worth it. Looking forward to its continuation.

Also, between the monthly DC shop and the new DC package, the Underworld Epoch is spoiled for fashion choices. I've also found the gear to complement the Icebound Revenant armor quite nicely, and I'd imagine it'd do so for any armor with a similar color palette such as Necro Paragon or ShadowWalker of Time.

spoiler:

I like how they set up Zorbak as the main character and made it look like this Friday the 13th will be a joke event only to surprise us with Lock and Key and turning it into a Maleurous quest. Right until the end i thought it will be just a short quest about giving the bones to Zorbak.

As much as i like Zorbak i'm happy it's another Maleurous quest. The characters and the stories are really interesting. Kudos to whoever wrote the Maleurous story.

So long Remthalas are one of my favorite villain. Sinnocence and Mr Nameless was sadly killed too soon IMO. I'm interested about Lock and Key, they are a mystery so far.

Didn't Remthalas called them colleges one time?

LigerBeard -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/14/2020 13:40:25)

@spirit of greed:
spoiler:

As much as I was worried that there might be a Maleurious, I'm actually relieved that it's Lock and Key. Oddly enough, they were the ones I looked forward to facing the most, seeing as they have a weird silly feel to them, kinda like Bill Cipher

Dratomos -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/14/2020 13:48:37)

spoiler:

So the Maleurous Saga continues after all. I was worried that it would be focused on Zorbak due to intro, but like they did with Mr. Nameless, devs have surprised us again.

A very enjoyable quest and I do like how different each Maleurous seems to be. Since we are going to Lock's head, will there be a war? Who knows.

And LigerBeard:
spoiler:

There have been hints that Lock and Key are part of the Maleurous.

LigerBeard -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/14/2020 14:31:42)

@Dratomos:
spoiler:

I have heard about that, but honestly, I still prefer them to Remthalus.

spirit of greed -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/14/2020 15:10:38)

spoiler:

Man i know we barely know Lock and Key but i don't want them to die, they are so silly and weird i like them.

Also it looks like the Maleurous guys aren't really villains like the Avatars claim it but rather as a bunch of misunderstood beings. I feel more and more awful everytime one of them dies. IMO the Avatars the one who needs some beating.

Anyway i remember Lock and Key stealing our hair/DNA i wonder how that will work in this story?

Also they used some sort of hallucination teleportation combo and made us forget everything last year. That's crazy! The only 2 who can do similar things like that is Kathool and Remthalas. Though Remthalas works with dreams rather than in reality like L&K which in my opinion are more dangerous.
I'm interested what kind of characters will they be and how strong they are. So far they look like very powerful with all the shenanigans they can do.

My only fear is them becoming a joke characters, killed too soon as Mr Nameless or just being killed. Again i like them they look like fun

blowthemandown -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/14/2020 15:31:53)

Despite his brief appearance, and the return of two of Dragonfable's weirder characters, I feel like Zorbak stole the show this quest. Hope we get more of him in the future.

mds2006 -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/14/2020 20:18:27)

spoiler:

One of the things I find most interesting is that other than Remthalas killing Nameless... and when Sinnocence was actually finished off and it showed them spying on the scene... If Lock & Key are indeed members, most of them seem to just be doing their own thing. Like they're apparently a group, but does stealing a hair and giving riddles really have anything to do with messing with dreams or... being an amalgam of good and evil beings and weapons? If it weren't for that one specific scene and the Avatars telling us they're together like that (though to be fair they haven't been the most... honest or open when it comes to these guys), I'd have no problem just thinking they're all mostly-isolated antagonists/characters at this point.

fxmybrute13 -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/15/2020 0:56:00)

spoiler:

"ZXJ3bl" does decode to "error", as noted on the quest page.
However, I couldn't figure out why Lock said that we were given the answer.
"Error" doesn't sound like an answer.

So I googled some more, and ZXJ3bl was/is most famously used in an instance of PHP ransomware, in conjunction with "JfcmVwb3J0aW5n".
"JfcmVwb3J0aW5n" means nothing useful by itself.
But adding the 2 together gets us "error_reporting".
So maybe Key gave us it's part of the answer, which seems thematically appropriate for the duo.

Still, there is the problem of what question the answer is addressing though.
The quest presents the question as Lock's malfunctioning.
So, my interpretation of the answer is that somebody is reporting to Lock + Key and fed Key garbage data.

Raphael 777 -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/15/2020 6:49:47)

These two make me laugh. I like how weird things get when these two appear. I do hope we get an upgrade to the Unlucky Clover scythe. The description made me think back then that it'll get an upgrade in the future.

Jovan -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/17/2020 14:48:00)

I loved that little animation Zorbak had when he was counting on his "fingers"! It was so cute and funny.

LurkBlackSmith -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/19/2020 21:13:17)

So will we still have the part of the golden dragon bone when we were vacuumed into Lock's head?

ergotth -> RE: =DF= March 13th Design Notes: Friday the 13th: The Lucky Undead (3/24/2020 15:24:48)

To anyone wondering, L&K theme this time was a reversed of the theme in the Ruins of Sil :)
