Emrys -> Base Class and Damage Stat (4/7/2020 21:01:56)

I just started a new character, so I'm wondering if it really matters what kinds of weapons I start buying and which main damage stat I start training. I know each weapon type will deal damage based on its own stat, but does that pairing need to be determined by your base class? Is it in a warrior's best interest to train STR and use swords, or would it be just as fine to train INT and use staves? And if there is a benefit to using swords, does it apply only when using your base class (dragon and acelean too) or to all classes?

im not sure about other classes but i do know that mage cannot use most of it's skills when using a sword or something similar so you might wanna check out if the base class you chose can even wield other weapon types and then decide.

non base classes should probably be treated here as something thats unrelated to your base class since everyone is ment to be able to use them regardless of their base class which means that for the most part the weapon type should not make a massive difference but there might be a few exceptions- chaosweaver for example is a crit based class so using an int build to increase crit dmg is better than str or dex.

to sum it up your base class should not effect your weapon and stat of choice(as long as it can use it) especially when using other classes and quite frankly the best weapons out there are
the more universal scythes since they add all 3 main dmg stats instead of focusing on one and can switch dmg types depending on your highest one.

You should pay attention to the damage type in your class's skills. If, for example, a skill always deals Melee damage regardless of the type of weapon equipped, then only STR will increase the damage of that skill. In the case of Warrior, no important skill is locked to any kind of damage (they depend on the weapon equipped), only Throw is fixed to Pierce damage and since it is a skill almost never used in the class, then you can place the points on any attribute and use any weapon you want.

This is the opposite in Rogue, since the Throw skill is also the only fixed Pierce skill in the class, but it is an important skill in class rotation, so it is better for Rogue to always use Daggers and increase DEX. Ranger is another notorious case, where half of your skills are fixed on Pierce and half on Melee, so using INT is not a good option.
