Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2

Hey there, heroes!

This week, The Conduit board at the Arena at the Edge of Time has received a new update!

The ancient Roktoru has awakened from its slumber, and the otherworldly Ricterild has appeared, only before seen from Summon Gems.

Defeat them both to unlock upgrades to the Summon Gem - Roktoru, and Summon Gem - Ricterild!

Head over to the Inn at the Edge of Time to test your skills and abilities.

If you're not sure where the Inn at the Edge of Time is, try clicking on that mysterious black rift floating above Falconreach...

Also this week, some updates and bugfixes:

The Golden Cube has made its way to its final home near Uaanta's Shrine in Book 3 Falconreach.
The latest Maleurous content has been added to the Maleurous board (accessed by talking to Uaanta)
Fixed a bug where Falconreach fishing was inaccessible (brought up the Golden Cube buttons).
The waves in the Archive no longer require completion of all locks to play.
Book 3 Ash and Cinquefoil have had their typos and issues squashed.
The Rose Tree quests have had typos fixed.
Guests can no longer be brought into the Six Heroes quest "Darkheart".
"Inert Summon Gems" from The Conduit are now equippable.

And that's all for this week! Next week (if everything goes well) we'll catch up with the main story, where last time we ended on quite the cliffhanger!

Woohoo! Havent finished the last set of challenges yet, but this just makes me excited.

Just powered through the white summon gem one (Ricterild?) with Archivist, without knowing any of the mechanics so I consider that achievement haha.

Rokturu though, one tough cookie.

blowthemandown -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/10/2020 23:08:11)

Rokturu has rocked my face several times, and I'm no closer to figuring out what makes his All resist go up, and how to avoid it.

Kurtz96 -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/10/2020 23:11:17)

Attack Rokturu with energy attacks and his horms will start to shatter. After 6 turns (seems to be turn based as multi hit moves did not speed it up) all 3 horns are shattered he will be stunned for 2 turns and his all resist will be -50. When he wakes up it will be reset to 0.
Beat both individually.

For the duo, it would seem to strategy is to kill Ricterild quickly as Rokturu isn't too overwhelming, then just reset Rokturu's all resist with energy.

joglaze -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 0:28:11)

Has Ricterild been buffed? I remember being able to beat it no problem with Underworld Epoch, now I can't seem to do it anymore. I probably just suck with the class still, but I used the same rotation I did earlier, and no dice.

EDIT: I can't say the same, but then I realized that I CAN change equipment so that I have higher light resist, and not just stick to my usual go-to equips, so I managed to beat it this time again. I'm just curious as to how I could't beat it again with the standard All gear. Eh, onto the duo I guess.

Kurtz96 -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 0:55:26)

Don't think so. I just beat him with Underworld Epoch without any potions or food. Felt the same as last time I fought him around 90 minutes ago.

I am really liking UWE (is that the abbreviation?). I surprisingly had an easier time beating Ricterild with it than DmK.

EDIT: that is weird, I used the standard all resist gear and didn't have any trouble. Maybe you were unlucky/misclicked?

joglaze -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 1:35:24)

I think I was just reaaaally unlucky. Looking back, I had all debuffs on him and buffs on me, and he somehow kept hitting me a lot through the blind and my shield. Switching to Light gear is no big deal though.

Lanxy -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 3:42:41)

When will there be a continuation of the main story plot?

Verlyrys answered that question in this very design notes

On top of that he also posted the consistent release schedule that we've been following for several years now in the Dragonfable in March design notes a week and a bit ago
quote:

Currently, we run a monthly schedule as follows:
Week 1: Inn at the Edge of Time challenges.
These are end-game challenges that reward the best gear and provide the biggest challenges to players. It's recommended that you reach at least level 50 or higher before taking these on, although specific ones can be done at much lower levels.
Week 2: Side Story
These are quest chains that have their own place and characters in the world. The monthly schedule means that they're updated slowly, but we have many already finished as well. You can check out the timelines in the Book of Lore to see when they take place in relation to the main story.
Week 3: Main Story
Book 3's main story, The End of Magic receives (mostly) monthly updates. This week and week 2 may sometimes be swapped, or in the case of holiday events, may be skipped for the month.
Week 4: Re-imagined
The fourth week of every month, we dedicate to reworking, repolishing, rewriting, and bug-fixing. Currently, we're working on redoing early Book 3, although sometimes we'll poke other old content or even revist more recent releases for polish and updates.

I dont get how you're able to come into a dn thread having not read the dns.

Dratomos -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 7:29:58)

Great release once again! Roktoru was my first trinket back in the day and I remember using him a lot in 2010's.

I also managed to defeat the duo with Ranger and Rotten Hardtack. A long fight, but not hard.

mds2006 -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 14:19:23)

I really don't get how people figure out stuff like breaking through Roktoru's All resist and stuff. There's no hint or pop-up suggesting what to do unless you're already doing it so when he starts being immune to all my damage I'm just like "What the heck!? Guess I'm dead then!" <.<
And at the start I saw he's already immune to electric damage so of course I wouldn't go out of my way to attack him with it because, well, he's fully resistent to it <_<

TFS -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 15:14:49)

^His Energy resistance decreases as his All resistance increases - the fact that it's the only other thing that changes is a hint.

Kurtz96 -> RE: =DF= April 10th Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: The Conduit Part 2 (4/11/2020 18:03:50)

Beat the duo with UWE. The double turns are really helpful, letting you charge Rokturu's horn (since it only charges once even if you attack it twice) and damaging the cocoon.
EDIT: Now beaten him with ranger and PDL on alt. It was much tougher and I needed to switch to light resist gear and use all 5 potions plus food.
