Potence or Resistance usually don't account for the melee% of the status conditions they affect, if a melee% is exchanged for Potence or Resistance it assumes using it on a standard 50% save or +0 bonus to monster save, if its is applied and paired with status belonging to the same piece of equipment see Fat & Tacky Santa's skill as an example.

If it helps, the equation for the melee% = Cha is 1/(38.5+15*5/4.25)/200 = 3.56 Cha = 1% melee.

How to compare between -20 Control Potence and +50 CHA?

Am I right to choose Accordion Shield -20 Control Potence instead of Pies +50 CHA for the Control effect?

Good question, Bu Kek Siansu. I have been having pretty good success with control of the monsters while using Vampire armor and Accordion Shield.
I am keeping Pies shield in my inventory until I get an answer to your question.

If comparing Stat in status conditions, see Status System - Saving Throws

It is no longer capped at +or- 20 to Difficulty.
So +50/5 = 10 to save, which is less than +20 Potence.

Well, the formula's: Major: (MajorInflictStat - MajorResistStat)/5, minimum -20, maximum +20.

In other words, if Pies brings your Cha to 50 more than the monster, you gain 50/5 = +10% chance to inflict the effect.

The Pies shield may still be useful, as it improves the effectiveness of your pets, especially if you are using a defensive ice armor. :)
