Is there a limit to the number of battles that these quests give you, or is it theoretically possible to do them for all eternity? It's been over half an hour, and I only have 2/3 sacs.

For Lucretia's potions resource scavenge, there is a chance of receiving the item after each battle won, most RNG quests are not designed to have an auto win situation when reaching a certain threshold of battles.
By being persistent with RNG, eventually the item will drop as an increase in attempt counts will result in advancement to its true drop rate.

Dark Sickness quest battle length (26/4/2020 run): 3 battles

Dark Sickness quest minimum battle length: 3 battles

I think the real odds of running into Sneak (Dark Sickness) is 1 in 3.

Yeah, for me, I clearly was fighting more than 3 battles between each sac. After the second sac, the third simply refuses to show up. Based on RL luck stat, not in-game luck stat, huh?

Yeah even me. I tried 4 hours today... It is crazy... Still not third snake.
