Chewy905 -> =MtAK= Chewy, Colorful Writing! (4/27/2020 12:18:36)

Hello hello HELLO!

I’m Chewy905 (usually just Chewy), and I’m your newest RP Forums ArchKnight! This thread here is for all your question-asking needs before I see you in one of our lovely competitions, at which point things may get a lot less friendly I’ll be displaying a healthy amount of competitive spirit!

Some base rules for the questions:
1: Follow all =AE= Comprehensive Forum Rules, I’d hate to have to issue my first warnings here.
2: Please limit yourself to 10 questions a post, two posts per page (I don’t have an endless amount of times on my hands, regardless of how it looks when I’m constantly lurking in these forums)
3: I reserve the right to answer or not answer questions as I so choose.
4: Please try to avoid repeating questions! If I have already answered it, I’ll likely just point you at where I have.

To fit the theme of the RP forums, I’ll give a brief overview of some of my characters. Unlike many other people, I don’t have a true “OC” yet, at least not in writing (he’s somewhere up in my head, causing a mess with a lot of different colors of paint). Most of the characters I claim were created right in these very forums:

Maled Con: My first true attempt at a character. He’s a bit of an edgy mess, with the power to steal, deceive, or enhance individual senses. He was the Darkness Paragon in 2018’s EC’s (by default, but don’t tell him that) In my mental-canon, he’s currently off in some unknown location living the good life with his angel friend. You’ve earned it, buddy.

Nigh Weathers: Aforementioned angel friend. A mute angel originally killed by Maled, and revived through unknown means. Hates killing or injuring people, but doles out magical pain akin to torture with no problems at all! Light Paragon of 2019’s EC’s, and also now off living the good life in some unknown location.

Silence: A sad girl with a magical ghost-blade who was just looking for a way to prove she was still alive after the loss of her brother. Finalist in Where Power’s Collide of 2020. Died a glorious death on the chessboard, may her soul rest in peace (if it is still actually around).

Karen: A lively huntress, currently being used in Kellehendros’ Dead-Moon Sky. She’ll see more use in the future…

Wow that was probably longer than I was allowed to make it! Let’s get this started, bring the questions in and I’ll answer them in this beautiful royal purple

Why, hello there minion co-worker! Welcome to our crew!

Hello! It's nice to be here! Though these chains keep getting tangled...

Should I feel bad that most of your characters have faced death or near-death thanks to my arena designs?

Not at all! Death builds character! (This is definitely not a subtle hint at one of my potential EC characters for this year. Do not question.)

Anyways, on to actual questions! First, an old favorite: If you had to fight 100 duck-sized horses, or one horse-sized duck, which would you fight?

Definitely one horse-sized duck, I'd feel less guilty than I would about punting tiny horses into the horizon (though that might be fun)

If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, provided it came trained, what would you pick?

If I'm allowed to go exotic and weird, a Komodo Dragon would be kinda awesome. They're about as close to a real dragon as you can get. Though I'm unsure if they smell and I have no clue how I'd keep it fed...

Which of the above characters is your favorite to write so far? Do you have any new ones in the works that you think will be your favorite?

Silence was an absolute blast to write, she felt really natural and I didn't have to tie her story into someone else's like I did with Nigh. As for future characters, I'm unsure. I've got a couple options for this year that will be new ground for me, so we'll see how that goes.

On a scale of 1 to Apocalypse, how much of a headache is this year's EC character going to be for me to balance?

I've got three different options running around right now. One is fairly simple, the second will be a bit of a headache, and the last is probably Apocalypse level.

That's all from me! Looking forward to working with you!

And I with you! Huzzah!

ChaosRipjaw -> RE: =MtAK= Chewy, Colorful Writing! (4/27/2020 12:37:39)

Hello Chewy! We meet again.

Waves a chain covered hand

First off, several hundred years have passed since Caeos's advent with Silence into Where Powers Collide. As the 5th dimensional entity controlling the writing of this forum post, I have informed him of the fates of his fellow allies (and enemies) and he sends his condolences and regrets.

Her spirit appreciates it. Probably. Caeos was a worthy ally.

How did you come up with the name "Chewy905" in the first place?

Webkinz! My first Webkinz stuffed animal was a chihuahua (No I didn't have to google how to spell that stop asking). The numbers lack any real meaning other than they're just what I preferred using at the time.

While we're at the topic of characters, how would you imagine your personal (AQW OS DF fantasy) character to be like? As in, what would the incarnation of Chewy, the 905th look like?

"Chewy, the 905th" (who likely wouldn't go by that name) is a creator, and probably a self-insert in the purest of form. You mentioned you're the 5th dimensional entity, as the writer. Chewy would practically be the "writer", but not removed from his work as I actually am, if that makes sense.

What sort of powers, skills, or abilities would Choo-Wei--- err, Chewy, the 905th have? Also personal weapon(s)?

No weapons, Chewy is a creator, not a destroyer. I've envisioned him to be able to make any inanimate object with a wave of his hand, but not able to create living creatures. Naturally, this bothers him, and he's been experimenting with ways to overcome this limitation. One of which may or may not be running amok in Combat Training right now.

Naturally, are you good or evil (or chaotic or neutral) and why?

Totally a chaotic neutral. Would be harder to give Star headaches if I followed "laws" or "goodness", but I at least try to maintain some semblance of balance instead of diving off the deep end.

I always ask these questions the few times I've been able to do MtAK threads, I'll think of some more questions later!

Huzzah! See ya around!

Gingkage -> RE: =MtAK= Chewy, Colorful Writing! (4/27/2020 15:50:37)

Hi, Chewy!
Hi Ging!

First things first, congrats and welcome to the team! I know you'll do great.
Thanks! It's exciting to be here!

Secondly, I try to, in every MTAK I post in, ask one question, and then give one gift.
A gift? For me? You shouldn't have!

First, the question: If you could have any one thing from any book, movie, TV show, cartoon, etc, what would it be?
Brandon Mull's "Five Kingdoms" book series has something called a "jumping sword", which you can point in a direction, shout "away!", and it will launch you in that direction (you still have to figure out how to land yourself). Owning one of those would be super fun, though probably a little dangerous! (to me and others, oops)

Now the gift: *holds out a box* Inside this box is an infinite supply of one thing, and one thing only. What's in it?
Soup! Cans upon cans of soup! Yum! Thanks Ging!

That's all from me. Good luck again!

Thank you!

roseleaf320 -> RE: =MtAK= Chewy, Colorful Writing! (4/27/2020 16:28:39)

Congrats Chewy! I can't wait to see more of you and your characters and suffer the wrath of your balancing paintbrush. Also I know it's my turn in combat training I'm getting to it I promise ahhhhhhh

Is it a paintbrush now? It's probably a paintbrush now.

If you get the chance to revisit a character in a few years, with much more character creation and writing experience under your belt, which would you probably want to revisit and why?

Probably Maled Con, his skillset could use a revamp, and I could see him getting a little restless and yearning for more excitement.

What is something you would be very hesitant to write in a character? A specific personality type, an attitude, moveset, or other that would be painful or unfun for you as a writer?

I'm trying and trying to think of one, but I just can't! Maybe a just, completely fully stereotypical edgy character? Early Maled is probably the closest I'll ever get to that.

If you could live absolutely anywhere, where would you live? What would your house be like?

Ooooooo I think some underwater castle with a view of sea creatures. It's so beautiful under the sea.

What mythical creature would you be and why?

A shapeshifter, because then I don't have to choose! I can be EVERYTHING!

Why'd you pick your profile picture?

Remthalas is super cool. He's also the closest thing visually that DF has put out to Blue, and personality-wise to White (who has yet to appear anywhere), so it felt fitting.

CHEWWWWYYYYY, about time you got into here.

CASSSSTTTT, I have arrived!

Questions, questions. Any particular legend that resonated deeply with you?

I'm a big fan of a lot of the classic Greek Myths. The Odyssey in particular has so much depth to it. Also a lot of fun monsters.

In terms of characterization, what you feel is something you are adamant about working in?

I really want to try writing a character like Roseleaf's Bassareus, someone really narcissistic and showboaty.

Any influences in your writing that seem to be common?

Like many people, my characters tend to be influenced by a specific song. I can't remember Maled's, but Nigh's was "Whirl" by Sakuzyo, and Silence's was both "Junjo Arumeria" by Shinra-Bansho and "Septette for the Dead Princess" by ZUN (specifically the Floating Cloud version)

With that, we know of Apoc levels. But are you prepared for the MORTI levels?!

Oh definitely not, but I'll certainly do my best!

Knight of Stygia, Evil multi-armed lion man, or icey webs of doom? PICK YOUR FATE!

Evil multi-armed lion man, because at least he might be interesting to talk to as he kills me.

Cupcake?

Ooooo don't mind if I do!

Sorry, it was an explosive one.

I've been betrayed!

What was perhaps the most significant progression you feel in becoming a writer?

Definitely my first year in the EC's. It was my first time truly writing with close attention to the quality of my writing, and my first time sharing my writing with multiple other people (stranger's, no less)! It inspired me to go take Creative Writing as my minor and start writing regularly.

Anything in particular you like to work on in order to get all the better?

My worldbuilding skills are very weak. I can do characters, combat, encounters, and standalone, self-contained things, but not make a full world. I'd like to try improving it sometime.

Anddd that does it! Welcome to the madhouse. Might come back for more but think that will do for now. In any case, PREPARE!

Thank you! I shall prepare as much as I can!

Dragonknight315 -> RE: =MtAK= Chewy, Colorful Writing! (4/29/2020 17:57:26)

HEY! Chewy! Grats! Know I am a little late to this party, but my college finals are now over. Now I get to ask the questions here! (Seriously though, super grats!)

Hey DK! I've still got a few finals left, but not many. Thanks for the grats!

I have a few simple questions here. First off, out of the four basic elements (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth), any particular one that resonates with you the most? Judging by your underwater castle, I hope we can be water buddies!

From a magical standpoint, I've always liked Wind. But irl I really like water because I love the ocean and all the weird and beautiful creatures in it. Mythical sea monsters and leviathans are super cool, too.

Do you have a favorite artist/group of music? Any particular genre you are a huge fan of?

I mostly listen to soundtracks from games, most English lyrical works are too distracting for me to do work while listening to. I've specifically been listening to a lot of Touhou stuff lately, with TAMUSIC's Orchestral arrangements being some of my favorites.

Besides AE games, any particular game you enjoy? Any that had a real lasting effect on you? An old favorite of mine is Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. Big inspiration of mine.

All of From Software's stuff (Dark Souls, Sekiro, etc) is a big favorite of mine, I enjoy the combat, boss fights, and worlds. Nier: Automata is definitely one of my favorite recent games. The beautiful soundtrack and story really stuck with me.

Favorite dessert or sweet?

Seasalt Caramel Chocolate! Now I'm craving some...

. . . Do you like pineapple on pizza?

Nah not a fan of it.

Okay, good to know for later. :D

What are you planning?

Lastly, would you like a surprise?

Ooooo a surprise? What is it!

You'll have to wait... *Laughs maniacally as he flips his hair*.

WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING!?

Alright, that was all. Good to see you again friend!

Good to see you!

Zyrain -> RE: =MtAK= Chewy, Colorful Writing! (5/16/2020 9:49:17)

Welcome. :)

Thank you!

*sprays Chewy905 in cyan paint*

*is sprayed*

That is all.

Hm simple enough.

Have fun!

*Waves happily, covered in cyan*
