So, from what I'm seeing so far, the Maleurous have set themselves on a path/mission that the avatars deemed threat-worthy. They all aren't inherently good or bad, but they do question and challenge the boundaries of right and wrong on occasion. Do you think its possible that the avatars would consider the Hero as a Maleurous at any point in the future? They do seem to dislike the quality that we share with the Maleurous, which is to question things and potentially change the world.

I don't think that the avatars would consider us a Maleurous exactly; that's the term being used for the beings who were trapped in Valtrith's mask. I do think, however, that if we start doing things that the Avatars judge as objectionable (and we refuse to stop), then they'll likely look for somebody to take us out, though they wouldn't specifically call us a Maleurous.

From what we've seen so far the Maleurous seem to come in 2 categories: those related to Doom/ the Shadowscythe and those with extra-dimensional, reality warping, almost meta abilities. Sinnocence and Voyna fall into this first category while Remthalas, Mr. Nameless, Locke and Key fit into the second.

If I had to say what I think the theme of the Maleurous is, I'd say it would be abnormality, reality deviant or maybe paradox. Sinnocence was a being of both Doom and Destiny, 2 diametrically opposing elements (it's name is literally a portmanteau of sin and innocence), Voyna was symbiotically bonded with a Doom spirit rather than being corrupted by it (something we didn't even know was possible), Lock and Key seem to be themed around a computer program or maybe even the code of the game itself, Mr. Nameless had the ability to trap Frostval in a snow globe pocket dimension and Remthalas was a disciple of Kathool (a being which managed to survive the Reset relatively unchanged and with knowledge of it's existence before the Reset).

As for why the Malerous are a considered to be a threat, (from what I remember from a developer answers thread from 2015), the reason Lore need elemental balance is because without elemental balance in place, it opens the way from some kind of primordial chaos to come in and wreck everything. The Shadowscythe want to destroy the other elements (which of course will result in element imbalance) which is why the Avatars consider them a threat.

My biggest question is how did the Maleurous end up trapped in Valtrith's mask in the first place? From what we've seen so far they seem to be too potent to be contained by someone of Valtrith abilities. I mean, I don't think Valtrith has ever beaten us in a 1 on 1 fair fight.

According to the Avatars, Valtrith merely absorbed the vessel, after he found it somehow, that the Maleurous were contained in by the Avatars and not the actual individuals themselves into his cloak of darkness, so I would imagine that would be the equivalent to swallowing a pill capsule, with poison in it, that doesn't dissolve in your stomach when you eat it.
