I am looking at getting Essence of Carnage to help boost my damage, and to regain mana when I use spells. Is it worth it, when I do not have any charisma to boost the effects of the guest?

TLDR:
Are both forms of the guest viable in battle, without having charisma?

As the two effects have half of its power scaled to Expected Cha, one loses half effectiveness for the Sp consumed as upkeep that can be better expended on another cast of an Armor's skill that uses Str/Dex/Int.

One should never attempt to use equipment that scales off of a stat that isn't invested in by a character's build.
