Recently received a random gift of 100 million gold. Though I was already pretty near gold cap, sitting at just over 1.1 billion. My gold did not increase after the gift. Is this intended?

The gold is added at battle resolution, not when the message shows up. If you looked before you finished the battle and then after you would see the difference of 100 million. If you mean your daily caps, Kibbles does not effect your daily cap.
