icetears -> Questions about fo mage (12/22/2020 15:01:07)

Got abit confused about mage gear as they seemed to be similar to warrior setup. Should mage go for bloodmage or bloodzerker? Wouldn’t zerker be of a lower dmg since its magic weapon based?

Legendary Ash -> RE: Questions about fo mage (12/22/2020 15:47:19)

At 200 Mainstat/Dex/Luk, a Warrior's weapon output is 100% melee, a skill adds an assumed 100% melee its an actual 88.5% melee due to Lucky Strike damage not being doubled, a Mage's weapon output is an assumed 75% melee its an actual 77.875% melee due to Lucky Strike being unaffected by a Magic weapon's penalty, skill/spell both add an assumed 125% melee its an actual 110.625% melee with an increased resource cost of 25% compared to a Warrior's, that means Warriors cast 5 skills at 100% cost and Mages cast 4 skills and 4 spells at 125% cost.

If an armor/shield has a built-in skill/spell that is locked to an element, it receives Elemental compensation as it assumes the player is at standard expected elemental resistances and is attacking one of the enemy's lower elemental modifiers instead of the highest one.
Such skill/spell are of either two types, weapon-type where compensation is in the form of reduced resource cost and allows weapon specials to proc should it occur or spell-type where compensation is in the form of a damage boost and doesn't allow weapon specials to occur or any weapon effects to be applied.

A Mage can use either Bloodzerker or Bloodmage due to having both Sp and Mp resources, to determine which one is ideal for your playstyle consider if one wants to utilize weapon effects to regenerate a resource at the cost of a damage penalty when casting a skill choose Bloodzerker, if one wants to equip spell boosting weapons and use mana potions or other forms of mana regeneration to continue casting spells for burst damage choose Bloodmage.
