Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears

Hey there, heroes!

This week, we're diving back into the Book 3 main story with an update to The Royal Resistance!

Last time, while you were keeping watch, a sudden storm caught the Greenguard Alliance unaware. While you and your allies were able to hold off the attack, a handful of your companions went missing- including your dragon!

Now, lightning strikes over an unknown landscape as you hasten to find your missing friends.

Head over to Queen Victoria in Book 3 Swordhaven to continue the Royal Resistance in this week's quest: Grinding Gears!

Also this week, we have a number of fixes. Note: Many of these fixes may require a cache clear.

  • Fixed a bug where the Coaleptimini pet was using its Blind on turn one instead of the fourth turn of battle.
  • Fixed a bug where Chaosweaver's "Aggression" skill was applying a non-typed DoT effect.
  • Fixed a bug where Soulweaver's "Repentence" skill was applying a non-typed DoT effect.
  • Fixed a bug where the Fallen Ice Dragon Sword was not using the proper damage boosting formula.
  • Fixed a bug where ChronoZ's "Cripple" combo was causing some unintended effects, did not require hitting to apply, and could sometimes have the wrong notification.
  • Fixed a bug where Necromancer's "Shroud" could give undefined resistance.
  • Fixed a bug where the Heart Elementals in Timetorn Matrix were not properly applying +80 Health to their foes.
  • Fixed a bug with The Professor where his "Shielded Recovery" effect was not properly shown.
  • Fixed a bug where stunning Tropy in the En and Tropy fight in the Arena would not enrage En.
  • Fixed a bug where En and Tropy in the Arena did not properly have death resistance.
  • Fixed a bug where Pride required two uses of Superior Volatility to begin using other elements beside Darkness.
  • Fixed a bug where Ezrajal and Samaranth's "Celestial Mirror" effect could be overridden by other effects.
  • Fixed some map and typo issues with Zeclem's Keep.
  • Finally, an issue was resolved earlier this week where certain items were taking an abnormally long time to save.

    And that's all! Woo!

Nice story development, and not a bit surprised regarding where most of the action takes place. Interesting to see Prince Eulin's place in the Manufactory world though, and it'll be interesting to see where they take him next.

Eragon Dragus -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/16/2021 13:29:43)

Dove and Verly with their character developments! Love to see it.

Fire alandry -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/16/2021 14:10:13)

Ok, I'll say it. The storylines of Dragonfable are interesting as any good fantasy book I've read.
I loved the release! Great job, Dove and Verly!

TFS -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/16/2021 19:21:37)

Loved this quest! Had the perfect blend of humor and drama that DragonFable does so well.
    Was also intrigued by how
    spoiler:

    Eulin's father
had his appearance obscured - implying he'll be important later. Will we have to fight him to close the rift?

Excited to see where this goes next!

Primate Murder -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/17/2021 2:36:52)

Post Grinding Gears dialogue in the camps seems to reverse back to pre-Ambition's Crossroads.

    Is that intended?

@Primate Murder: One would think that there would be some further dialogue development especially given Eulin's involvement in the disappearance.[&:]

Dratomos -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/17/2021 11:28:12)

This quest was surprising one, I didn't expect the get this much backstory for Ostromir and Raven. It was very well done, I too am excited to see what happens next. I wonder if the finale to Doomwood Rift will also be two-parter.

PTAli -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/17/2021 23:50:51)

Raven had already given her backstory,
    spoiler:

except she didn't mention her mother being an assassin

but Ostramir's reaction to it was interesting.

I also noticed that at the start of the final scene, the Greenguard Alliance had put all of its field leaders and heavy hitters together, and on the front lines. This might have been for plot convenience's sake, or it might be a sign that they were about to make a serious and focused thrust into the ruins.

    spoiler:

And now that they have the directions to the rift, I expect them to go straight to it in the next mission.

The Jop -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/19/2021 21:49:51)

I know he's cute, but I'm surprised how little everyone (apart from Draco) cared that Eulin captured three of our allies. I guess he did it to stop his father, but still...

Alm Nullamors -> RE: =DF= January 15th Design Notes: Book 3: The Royal Resistance: Grinding Gears (1/22/2021 19:18:21)

@The Jop: Like you said, he had his reasons and was still ultimately on our side. Learning the way towards that rift was invaluable too.

I'm guessing Eulin's father may be the Tytan that the hero has to halt soon.
