Greetings Paxians! Potential, Present, and Past!
Yes, it's not a mirage you see, the friendly Moogle of the forums has posted here in the Dev Notes! I'm one of the part-time writers for AQ and a long, long, time as an AK for those that may not recognize me. If you're wondering where I've been hiding, you can blame RL for that, as being a teacher means one's work is never done, even in the middle of summer. But let's look at the subject of today's post: The Olympax!

Hopefully, you've gone to the Paxian Forums and seen this very mysterious symbol! Yes, a Paxian Event is coming! Yes, it actually will have a plot involved in it! Yes, it's real! Yes, it's going to happen during the real Olympics! (July 23 to August 8, 2021)
I know the island has been dormant for far, far too long. In fact, the last major event that dealt with Paxia would be the Truphma Saga, where after a very, very rough start (and intense invasion), Paxia rallied back and soundly thrashed the invading forces!
It is in the spirit of celebration of the last major victory for our island (yes, our, I'm still a Paxian through and through) that this event is dedicated to. After all, how can we establish a Paxia Overhaul without first reflecting on stuff in the past?
In this spirit, the Olympics will be featuring the return of these hated foes! So if you haven't grabbed your commemorative anti-Truphma equipment from said quest/war where we kicked butt, I recommend revisiting it and arming yourself. How else will you wrack up that kill count? After all, you're representing your chosen clan in this fine event, battling our foes thanks to a very plucky volunteer and some magic!
This event is also important as it's a test run of some new code our beloved Captain has set up to allow Paxia to have something ongoing while other quests continue to come in. If all goes well, this should allow Paxia in the future to be able to hose more Clan Challenges while other stuff goes on. Eventually, we should even be able to have it ongoing during a war!
Let's move on to prizes, shall we? I know that y'all love those.

No Olympic themed event would be complete without medals of gold, silver and bronze. See? We already got the artwork and everything! Yes it's a misc item! How do you get it? Well I have that info right here:
Top 3 for Gold (1st-3rd place)
Top 10 for Silver (4th-10th place)
Top 25 for Bronze (11th-25th place)
To clarify, yes, if you're in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, you only get the gold medal. I mean that's how the Olympics work and whatnot. Relax, I promise the gold medal is the best version of the item, you're not missing out on anything if you made it all the way to the top.
And yes, it's for kill count! Y'all already know how that works. I want y'all to get in there and tear the Truphma apart for the glory of Paxia! And also for some plot, if you care about that. I mean I do, but I'm a writer so I'm biased.
I think that wraps it all up, can't think of any... what's that? You want to know what these medals do? Ah, the Paxian Pragmatists I see. Well... I suppose I can share a general idea. How's this for a tagline for them?
"The medals will offer amazing stat boosts along with elemental protection. The higher you place, the stronger your medal will be!" All medals will have the same power and abilities. The only difference will be in the visuals and names.
I'm done here. Paxia is not forgotten, make no mistake. Paxia's overhaul is much like a tier 3 class overhaul, requires a lot of prepwork before implementation, so please be patient on that front. Paxia will get some quests in the mean time throughout, but this event should kick things off with a bang! Happy Hunting!
