Sapphire -> Deviation From the Echochamber (7/17/2021 0:46:45)

So, I get that many players like to figure out the maximum damage, maximum synergy, maximum play styles and they like to just kind of suggest items, builds, etc based on what what's usually regarded as "the best", or "common knowledge" I have seen this on here, on other online iterations of not only AQ, but other games. It's a natural thing people embark on. I'll give you a couple of examples: Most people would likely say Sol Neko is better than Luna Neko. I would bet most people say Vampire is recomended for Mage over the other subraces. Maybe These are likely just some opinions that sometimes , but not always, be just echochambers. Sometimes the stats back them up. However, I think AQ does allow for a crazy amount of variation, deviation, and uniqueness to allow players to do it their way, and still be very successful. This is why I have tested several "stack" playstyles to see if anything out there is nasty good. And I think there are several. So anyway, So this thread is about players discussing what they individually like to use, do, or how they play that probably isn't considered "mainstream" and maybe you can explain why. This can be based on art, a specific item or items, or any number of factors. So I'll go first: I havn't tested Werewolf, as I prefer being a Mage. But I do see a "Fear Eater" potential if you own some Terror items. But I am REALLY loving my Lucky Beast Mage playing as a Werepyre. There are some very nice synergies that *maybe* it isn't absolutely the most optimum damage in the world, but there is some nice things. First of all, I love to be "multiple". I can win by attack, spells, backlash, pets, statuses, and now with Werepyre, you open up Melee weapons into your arsenal. Maybe it's not max damage, but the attack button with Mages never was. But since Werepyre boosts magic weapon damage to be = to Melee weapon damage, and then both get it's stats from INT (half) and STR (half) , you can now use both melee and maghic weapons equally. This allows for a set up where you're not restricted to one type or the other. In addition, Werepyre boots spells higher (50%) than Vampire (37.5%) While the spell might be missing some stat damage due to lack of STR, it still is outperforming Vampire. You can boost STR to ensure this. Also, Even testing Eat Fear from Terror Weapon a few times, the damage is increased if I click the weapon while holding it in Werepyre compared to even Terror Raiment. So it seems the 33% damage bump to Melee standard is greater than what's lost to lack of Strength. This makes the beast form better in Werepyre. In addition, I'm finding in testing double Poelala with being at 250 charisma and 250 int with the 33% boost to magic weapons is boosting weapon damage immensely. The Charisma stat trained is likely outperforming the lack of STR if you had trained STR instead. Also, Werepyre (like the others) has a summon guest that toggles and the inflict with AND the SP heal version uses Charisma....not INT or STR. So not everything Werepyre does is "for Hybrids" So with the SP heal toggle , SP heal guest, and being a Mage, you can last in Beast mode longer if so desired, compared to the other subraces. Also, bouncing back and forth from protean pets and Poelala makes for fantastic damage increasers with the use of shadowfeeder. Protean pets need to connect to give you ele vuln, and 4 landed attacks (because you have charisma) can get you up to 174% on your next turn. Switch back to Poelala, bombs away I seem to also have very little issue with accuracy. And lastly, DRAGONLORD Melee weapons....SP Regen at your disposal...circling back to other points saying you can use both magic and melee weapons equally. So is Werepyre "for hybrids"? Perhaps. But it's darn good in a lucky beastmage setup. And so that's my deviaion from the echochamber. What's yours?
