Beshin Adin -> RE: September 2021 (9/23/2021 12:02:29)

Maybe AQW should seek new storytellers?

Rtkat3 -> RE: September 2021 (9/23/2021 12:59:21)

So far, the Elemental Titans have no dialogue.

Where would you find Artix Entertainment's storyteller department to bring up your complaint?

Beshin Adin -> RE: September 2021 (9/23/2021 15:48:47)

I dont know, maybe Artix himself?

ergotth -> RE: September 2021 (9/23/2021 16:20:13)

Last time AQW had new storytellers, such as yours truly, we ended up being pretty much ghosted into oblivion. They felt too unconfortable relying the core of storylines to a team that couldn't work in person within AE. Not an irrational fear, but disagreeable. With the pandemic forcing everybody into home-office, I can only find that quite a karmic irony. I wrote and sent a lot of stories, drafts and WIPs and never got any reply whatsoever.

If they allow me, I would love to share it here, maybe a suggestions thread for storylines and such. AQW could greatly benefit from players giving direct insight on what we could have next. I know the playerbase is majorly bashing the "skip" button in most cutscenes, but AQW DOES have players who want to know what happens between "once upon a time" and "happily ever after" in every release we have each week that actualy tells a story.

(if anyone is interested in my releases, the map names are:)
/Thirdspell
/Memento
/Frostspectre (Seasonal, frostvale)
/Parades (Seasonal, Carnaval)
/Firebird (Seasonal, Carnaval)

And don't skip the cutscenes, they are the juicy stuff ;)

At least they went a different path with the Elemental Titans.

Tonight is the first part of Lae's Hollowborn saga.

Beshin Adin -> RE: September 2021 (9/24/2021 13:02:08)

good. Im tired of a Hollowborn hub with no story

The problem is nearly every storyline is just fighting bad dudes to save something, with some ancient powerful mystical whoever specced on top. This is why Darkon's releases are so sought after, he mixed it up a bit with some moral ambiguity and crypticism. And this is why I like Memet, she just wants to have fun and her releases reflect that. We need more fun and goofy stuff, not just 'core' storyline on top of 'core' storyline. (btw, Memento was nice, top Harvest release contender).

And trust me when I say that, I really wanted to do some more different things, villains with a tragic backstory, antagonists that are not evil, but with another point of view, even someone stuck in a self-fulfilling prophecy where all his actions to avoid disaster actualy hasten its arrival! But alas, it was not meant to be. And I too wanted a lot of fun and goofy releases to boot, just like my first one, Third Spell from the Sun was the "classic AE shenanigans", I had a lot in mind of it too. Plus I admit my writting style aims to a lot of slapstick, physical humour and running gags. And I'm glad you enjoyed Memento ^^ I was brainstorming a Dia de Los Muertos release for YEARS!

So you can just up and send a story draft to them and maybe they can circle back if they like it? Interesting. Not that I would ever let them lay a hand on my Lukrecia but good to know.

More or less, that was from the time I was a developer, I would see where the schedule had room for me, I would write something on my own or asked to (such as /Frostspectre and /Necronaut, another release I wrote, both supposed to be a "warm up" for their seasonal events with fetch-quests through old content, I like these quests that goes through past events :D)

*fun fact, Necronaut's NPC, Remco, was named after Remco Van Den Bosch, great astronomer and lead for the team that discovered the biggest Black Hole up to date

Beshin Adin -> RE: September 2021 (9/25/2021 10:34:30)

This was a good release, left on an exciting note

Nevertheless, the best was TLaPD, for the return of the Titans

Rtkat3 -> RE: September 2021 (9/25/2021 11:53:58)

Last night's release was good and involved the Dawn Vindicators. Their leader Gramiel's helmet resembled a recolored version of the Grand Inquisitor's helmet. Any objections?

Beshin Adin -> RE: September 2021 (9/25/2021 14:52:21)

I know I encouraged the psycho-Light villains once. But the Golden Onslaught, the Inquisitors, the Seraphic Paladins, and now the Dawn Vindicators? This is getting old.........

ergotth -> RE: September 2021 (9/26/2021 10:29:41)

I don’t see the issue here. In 13 years of AQW we only got those groups with plenty of time in-between. Plus its a great concept to further explore the moral ambiguity and fall from grace due overwhelming hubris and pride. I also liked how each quest was named after a norse rune. The last one fittingly named Othala, “inheritance” or “legacy”.

Rtkat3 -> RE: September 2021 (9/26/2021 10:58:32)

We still don't know any other additional information about the secret society of Jus Divinum outside of the fact that that have infiltrators in the Guardians and were behind the Inquisitors' goals, the Golden Onslaught's attacks, and the establishment of the Order of the Seraphic Paladins.

Beshin Adin -> RE: September 2021 (9/26/2021 15:40:16)

So, basically, the Jus Divinium are the psycho-Light secret society, whispering evil into evveryone's ear......

Rtkat3 -> RE: September 2021 (9/27/2021 12:57:34)

That can be a theory.

Beshin Adin -> RE: September 2021 (9/27/2021 14:08:52)

It's lame if we have all these random psychos. But, if the Jus Divinium is the common denominator, THEN it gets interesting. Like a multi-disc game, with the big boss ending the final disc

Rtkat3 -> RE: September 2021 (9/28/2021 11:27:52)

We'll get to a full encounter with them eventually.

Rtkat3 -> RE: September 2021 (9/29/2021 13:14:34)

We still have another part of that to go through.
