Book 3: Reimagined: Trust

Hey there, heroes!

This month's Reimagined release has arrived! Last time, you spent a couple days in Falconreach while Ash did his best to secure funding and support for the Vind. You met up with Cinquefoil and some other members of The Rose while clearing the road, only to learn that The Rose's crimes were not widely known across Greenguard... But no sooner have you returned from your diplomatic trip to Falconreach, than Kara has a new mission for you.

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/TRUSTdn.png[/image]

Melissa and Niki have yet to return from their own excursion, and it's up to you and Mritha to find them before they get into trouble... or trouble finds them!

Head over to Sulen'Eska and talk to Mritha to go to Kara's past quests to play this week's Reimagined release: Trust!

A few notes about the Reimagined project:

This week, we're continuing the new story grafted into mid-Book 3. At this point, the existing Espina Rosa quest line still serves to carry players into Swordhaven. As a result, the Espina Rosa story will still be accessible from Kara and Mritha - for now. Once the Reimagined replacements have caught up to entering Swordhaven, Espina Rosa will be moved to The Shears (and adjustments eventually made to have it intertwined better!) However, until that point, Espina Rosa will still be accessible from Kara and Mritha.

We have also removed "The War Room" and "Choose" set of quests, as these did not serve any substantial purpose.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope this hasn't been too confusing as we work to bring Book 3's story up to modern standards!

We're almost there, and we hope you're as excited as we are to see the final, contiguous story!

Next up, we have a few armor customization updates!

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/Promo-CCArtix.png[/image]

The Artix customization for Paladin is now available by default, and the Vaal Chaosweaver and Zeclem DeathKnight customizations have been updated!

You can find these, as usual, in the Armor Customization room!

And finally, bug fixes and adjustments!

Game Log Updates:

  • The Show/Hide Log button has been moved next to the Options button on the interface. (Keybind ; still works).
  • The Game Log is now translucent!
  • You can now click on the Game Log itself to swap between Battle and System Log. (Keybind ' still works).
  • The log now suppresses duplicate notification pop ups when out of battle.
  • The Battle log now tries to check for the status name used in the char info panel before using the internal status name.
  • The Battle log now shows the turn number of each log entry.

    Other updates and fixes:

  • Removed the "Current Quest" indicator from Kara's quests in Sulen'Eska.
  • Accessing The Shears now requires completion of the Main Story quest, "Trust".
  • The Shears quest line has been moved on the Book 3 Timeline.
  • The Blood and Roses final act has been moved on the Book 3 Timeline.
  • Paladin's front foot layering has been adjusted.
  • Weakness seeking skills and attacks should now default to Curse element.
  • Yalla and Challenger Tog's reactive defenses will no longer protect against Curse.
  • Mritha and Niki guests have had some bug fixes/updates across the board.
  • anything else I may have forgotten

And that's all for this week! Be sure to join us next week for the start of this year's Mogloween festivities!

Well, this is turning to be a jam-packed month of releases if the reimagining week is earlier than normal. Keep up the good work on streamlining the main story's flow and chronology. And Curse is becoming the closest element that players can get for Null.

As for the GL, it intended that battle popups are also suppressed when it's active? Been batting the test dummy at 10k HP with CW and the Empowered, Annihilated, and Soulthread Gathered popups aren't engaging, notwithstanding the Annihilation DoT registering NaN as element. Other than that, seems to be working as intended.

EDIT: Did a little bit more checks. Battle popups will still register when GL is active (it'll take over popup functions, which should be to the gladness of those lagging from the said function), but must be set to System Mode instead of Battle Log Mode (yeah, I do find BL noisy if multihits are in the equation). The NaN Annihilation DoT element still stands.

What an interesting route for the story to take. I didn't expect Leon's storyline to jump this far ahead, but it makes most sense.

Leon's opening act was always one of the more jarring parts of Book 3. We just know there is a place called Shears in the map, can travel there and suddenly everybody welcomes us and we just start helping Leon because he opposes Rose? Now finally we have something we didn't have before. Introduction to Leon and to Shears. And making him a more relevant player in Book 3's main story (which is wise, if Espina Rosa will be transferred to him).

As for Game Log, I do like it's addition. It's not perfect, but it's welcome and I do like using it while being in Arena.

I really like the new transparent game log, and I think the placement of the game log button is significantly better than the previous one.

I'm also a big fan that the Mritha/Niki nerfs from Siege of Haven were basically reverted!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the story goes from Sir Leon. As is, the new ring from Trust is BiS +Crit, so it's super worth farming.

Hmm, does anyone know what the best colour hex codes are for the new colour custom armours? I liked their default colours, all things considered.

Nice, we're getting the start of what will eventually lead to "Sidelined Espina Rosa". Now it's hopefully just a matter of retying all remaining loose ends involved in that arc while steering this new main plotline straight into the garden of roses itself... It's been a very interesting ride, for sure.

    Flabagast -> RE: =DF= October 15th Design Notes: Book 3: Reimagined: Trust (10/17/2021 7:00:25)

Artix's Paladin armour, now with extra shine! This release is already a winner!

The improved game log is already quite spiffy and I'm sure it'll come in handy for some of those Inn fights I've been struggling with too...

    Regarding the Reimagined quest:
    spoiler:

There's a lot I like about this one. For starters, it was nice to see some familiar landmarks like Oaklore to the north, the boarder checkpoint to the west and of course the Oculus Tower while we were walking about with Mritha. It's not a huge deal but I thought those details were a nice touch.

Leon's new introduction was fitting too. Remembering back to when the Shears questline was first released, I don't recall being told what the tower was actually doing there and why it should have been felled, aside from it being a blow to the Rose's establishment and a symbol of defiance against them (which I was still very keen on, mind you) and of course the whole thing the Crest and her unique powers. So it was to nice to see how it would be of concern to the Vind and the wider story.

And Akanthus... Continuing to pull the wool over Jaania's eyes; downplaying the siege he instigated against the Dravir and making her believe the Vind's actions to be so aggressive rather than defensive. I really appreciate how much you've done for his character in these quests, he might just be one of my favourite DF villains now. I know Jaania's gotten a lot of flack from the community in the past, but between Akanthus deceiving her at nearly every turn and that Mirror of hers confirming her biases... Can we really blame her for being the way she is? :P

And some tasty setup and foreshadowing for future events regarding Alteon and the Hero's dragon as well...

    Biokirkby -> RE: =DF= October 15th Design Notes: Book 3: Reimagined: Trust (10/17/2021 8:00:51)

    spoiler:

Hard agree. I wasn't completely caught up on the plot, I'd just gotten to the land of fables, and I decided to replay it. The reimagined quests totally recontextualise what I thought of Jaania, compared to Arkanthus
