Legendary Ash -> RE: Can the game distinguish between base stat and boosted stats? (11/11/2021 14:07:51)

For the game engine to have any sort of ability to distinguish between base stats and stat boosts, it would have to be manually programmed, and from how QuadForce is unaffected by attempts to stack with other stat boosts, whether its applied first and the stat boost is applied second or vice versa, as well as how the 500 stat cap and -200 stat floor functions by looking at the total stat regardless of source, it appears AQ's engine doesn't do this at least in calculations, although there is a graphical interface distinction between stats applied from status conditions apart from stat drives and base stats. Epicduel is the only example of where a recent promotional package equipment skill core that reduces opponent's stats is specific to base stats only while other stat (de)buffs are based on the total. In AQW there is a graphical interface distinction between base stats and stats from equipment enhancements, but when it interacts with skills (de)buffs, it always uses the total.
