Mr. Roguish -> Warrior Tower spells opinions (11/16/2021 0:48:04)

Is there a general consensus on these "warrior spells"? Any one get really noteworthy use out of them?

Also:
• Does the Dragon Slayer Aura add damage to the dragonbane weapons?
• Does the elemental locking spells override armor skills that are elementally locked or does the armor take priority?

Generally Q&A isn't really for opinions. That is up to you to make since it is a matter of judgement. However although there aren't any hard subs for the tower spells, you can find a general description here, along with the changes that were made. This is still considered current.

To answer your other questions:

1. It doesn't add damage specifically to dragonbane weapons, but it's a general damage boost. So if you use something like Dragon Blade or others like that, you'll get the +25% damage from the Dragonslayer Aura, and the Damage Boost trigger from whatever Dragonblade or Dragonbane weapon you are using.
2. Imbues override the element of weapon-based skills. Spell-based skills are not affected by imbues. Imbue Element takes the highest priority, and then the element of the weapon-based skill, and then the element of the weapon you are using. For example, with the top bullet being the highest priority:

  • You have a Light Element Imbue.
  • Your Armor has a Weapon-Based skill that is locked to Darkness.
  • Your weapon is Earth Element.

By this rule, since you have a light imbue, your attack will be Light. IF you don't have the imbue, but you use the armor skill, then your attack will be darkness element. If you don't have the imbue and you don't use the skill, your attack will use the element of your weapon. If you have the light imbue, but you don't use the skill, then your attack will be Light.

I wouldn't say that's completely accurate. For instance, when users will ask for advice for their build/characters. Taking spells in general for example, what's the best earth spell?:
While you might say something that theoretically does the most damage per hit, someone else might choose something that does less damage per hit but has more hit chances. Or maybe something that easily inflicts some DoT status with 1 hit or regardless of hit that has guaranteed damage. Ultimately it comes down to a matter of opinion based on the stats of said spells. So while ultimately it is subjective, we are still able to mostly accurately assess that a lvl 1 spell, extremely more often than not will not be more effective than a lvl 150 skill.

I myself have given my opinion of how to best go about a dodge build and I will make my case based on what I believe is the most effective. However while I focus on getting the bare minimum of what's needed and have it last for lengthy duration with less upkeep, I am fully aware that it by far isn't the absolute most guaranteed chance to dodge that others seem to like at the cost of being able to maintain such a state for extended durations and/or with high upkeep.

In the case that I was asking, someone could provide a case that they use it and they have really good results for (x) reason(s) and were content with the decision. Another person could say that they had tried it and they didn't really like it for (y) reason(s). There is always a risk to reward decision one has to make in which everyone has their own opinions of what they feel is the proper ratio. People quite often will take said opinions into account before attempting their own attempts with the information they gathered to then assess for themselves whether or not they like what they have culminated. Being that the topic of concern are z token items, which are very much not return friendly if a choice was made and then regretted, all the more reason why one would ask opinions before taking action.
