battlesiege15 -> Guide to Backlash (11/29/2021 17:37:56)

Is it possible to have a decent Backlash set with no package sets?

And could someone help me figure out items that go with Backlash effects?

Thank you!

Nemesis' Testament
Waqaya of Osiris

Call/Summon Dread Fiend of Nulgath Ice and Darkness variants
Summon Essence of Carnage from The Greatest Warrior II

Angra Linnorm

Dragonsblood Charm

Thanks!

Looks like a backlash set isn't really plausible with the non-promo items for now.

The dreadfiend guest is the strongest aspect to backlash. The doomlight armor having it's own backlash plus backlash increasing toggle, along with the angra linnorm pet and a good misc does make it exponentially stronger, but you'd do plenty well using angra linnorn and dread fiend only. You'd probably just have to manage your HP a bit more as you'd be in the battle for more turns, whereas having all the backlash items available tends to yield 1-2 turn wins. Full backlash using doomlight is the fastest farming in the game. No nuke setups, nothing. Youre items out IS the nuke.

Also, before I went all in on backlash I'd use dread fiend and essence of carnage and they actually come in handy in fights where youre just trying to out-heal the damage being done to you, and once you're HP becomes higher than the monsters you'll likely survive the match simply because of backlash.

Also, remember, the optimal backlash build is 250 INT/CHAR/END

Haha, that's the complete opposite of my current build! I got the Magic stat trainer so I could always just switch over my stats as needed.

Is the Dreadfiend a good guest to get just to try out then?

For testing purposes start with gold priced items like Carnage that requires mana as upkeep and Angra, one can multiply battle tested values by Dreadfiend's/(Carnage+Angra)'s Backlash percentage as stated on the info subs to compare and decide if one like those numbers, this will save a GGB for something that one likes from the start.

Even if you decided to spend a GGb on the dread fiend, if memory serves me correctly, it's a rare box, not an ultra rare. The guest can toggle to damage mode for normal guest damage and it's a pretty standard ice guest on that mode and from that standpoint, isn't too bad a deal. It's always tougher to give advice when you don't know what a person is willing to spend on tokens/ggb's, since some spend more than others.

Little resources you can be a bit more picky, and for other players who spend a lot they'd probably just hoard as much as possible. There's also simply personal preference aspects. I, for one, prefer effects over pure damage, as I feel they give a player for variety for not only fun, but variety IMO translates to stronger characters as it makes your character more versatile. Variety/versatility allows for adaptation to specific monsters to win. The game's not always about MOAR DAMAGE OMGZ. Some players play that way too. So that's where you may have to decide.

I guess I agree just try and test essence of carnage with angra and see how you like it. And if you want to invest a rare GGB in dread fiend, then go for it. The dread fiend I don't think will be there forever, though, so I would go test pretty soon. It may even get removed sometime in December for all we know. It was added as a "November GGB" update and those monthly ones usually eventually go away.
