And another month of Chaos has befallen upon us, and their mechanics are quite loyal to their original AQW counterparts.
    spoiler:

Tibi will tell you the reason why the likes of LC and VHL are the ones who can safely solo him in his home universe. He retains his Claw Swing maneuver when pissed off (30%-40% HP threshold here), and his healing factor used in conjunction is reminiscent of his ultra form. Definitely bring BiS MPM gear alongside Hero Diet. He seems to have an HP judgement system tied to his two possible modes. Interesting art for the djinn. Nice khopesh, btw. Suits the ranger cosplay if Sek's staff is getting a little boring.

Khas... is it safe to IBR her? Anywho, she has a setup phase and background warping shenanigans (as her power of foresight did come from the dream plane). Have yet to off her or attrition her long enough to see if she can devastate cooldowns, but her reflector shield was well translated and was spared no quarter to fully emulate the original (at least in the direct dmg dept. DoTs still hurt her when its active). Art is pretty loyal to the original, just less bulky and tentacly.

EDIT: Yeah, IBR's a waste of time here. She'll purge the -Ice curse once she's seen enough.

Now that I can finaly try other Chaoslords.... any hint on Ledgermayne? They hit like a TRUCK xD

Mixed thoughts on Khasaanda. While her prophecy mechanic is cool and she's undoubtedly one of the most visually impressive fights in the game, the way she's scaled is a bit weird. A titanic HP pool on an enemy that already has conditional vulnerability (and large heals to boot) makes for an extremely long slog - and her lack of damage precludes there being any threat/risk to the player that would increase interaction and alleviate boredom. This is pretty well exemplified by the final attacks of each of her two prophecies - her Doom phase charges up a preventable nuke, which is something you'd expect to be panicking to prevent, but overall low damage combined with frequent non-attacking turns means you just ignore it completely. Her Destiny phase, on the other hand, initiates an absolute stress race to debuff her as much as possible lest she heal and have wasted even more of your time. While I enjoyed the fight very much - the arena changing to match Khasaanda's visions was very exciting and immersive - the poor scaling precludes me from wanting to ever replay it.

Mixed thoughts on Tibicenas as well. While I got the 'gist' of the fight - RNG splits that you have several turns to react to - I had no idea how the flavor text was meant to translate into gameplay and still don't know what Tibicenas was asking me to do. Not sure how reasonably someone could be expected to figure it out on their own, but I could very likely just be a numbskull. In any case, it doesn't really matter since he can't really defend himself so you just sorta ignore whatever he has to say and blow him up anyway.

Also glad that the sequential locks were removed, hopefully the people who'd be most interested in Chaos Lords can now experience the content without being walled by Wolfwing.

@ergotth Ledgy isn't really that complex, and its DDR mechanics are the simplest. In homage to its AQW counterpart, it'll mark a pad wherein you'll receive a damage rebate (10% of your max HP) 5 actions later (the heal occurs before the first hit attempt in that action). Just watch out for the popups at the starting phase of its action script and its perpetual MPM shield once its HP dips to 25%. If it's "More Mana...", then you must dip your MP reserves to less than 50% or receive a Null element MP DoT (the very DoT that cost me my experimental DK run on it). If "Mana levels...", keep reserves above 50% or risk all class skills disabled for 2 turns (already cooling down class skills will be delayed just as long)(This discourages Techno plays). The MP penalty check happens exactly when Ledgy will heal you. It's 100% dmg up once its HP dips to 50% is just a slight inconvenience.

@above, yeah we all have those moments. Just got lucky that I figured 2/3 of his hints (Astral's Tibi vs DmK v2 provides all 3 conditions) after 2 runs and could've ended him on my 3rd had I not fatally misplayed. Khas is still definitely something. The furry lords were something in the damage, but she is complex. The best I figured was that if she says something about weaving, reflector shields ensue; Destiny, she weakens; Doom, she DoTs. Beyond that, haven't figured if its all random or has some extra conditions (what's that focus break mechanic of hers anyway? I thought it'll snap her out of whatever background she's having fantasies of).

AstralCodex -> RE: =DF= December 3rd Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: Khasaanda & Tibicenas (12/4/2021 12:40:16)

As usual, I really liked the art on the new Chaos Lords. Khasaanda in particular looks amazing. Good music on the two of them too.

I think Tibicenas was quite enjoyable, but his mechanic was really, really hard to figure out. For example, it took us about 2 hours to figure out that the key hint in "Wish of Vengeance: Getting Even" was the "Even" part (you need an even number of statuses on yourself to pass this check). The other two statuses were also quite hard to figure out as well. However, he's so easy that you don't need to know how his wishes work and just kill him with an offensive class anyways.

I didn't like Khasaanda's mechanics very much: her anti-debuff/invulnerability mechanic means that many classes end up just spamming attack button into her instead of doing anything interesting. Couple this with her massive Prophecy of Destiny heal, and the fight felt incredibly long (even though by the clock, the fight lasted less than 10 minutes for all the classes I tried her with). I just got bored during the fight a lot due to the number of filler turns. I do really appreciate that she alternates Doom/Destiny prophecies after the first one, though, as I feel like I'd rage quit if she could roll Destiny 3 times in a row.

Bleh, Inn fights, and chaos lords at that.

Not my cup, that said, love the art on the Djinn.

Dratomos -> RE: =DF= December 3rd Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: Khasaanda & Tibicenas (12/5/2021 13:30:30)

So, those were surprisingly challenging. And their mechanics weren't something that I really liked. Like others said, Tibicenas was really hard to figure out, but due to it's lack of defences, it could be bursted.

And Khasaanda? Wonderful art, if changing background is possible in Arena, these challenge fights became a lot more interesting. But her mechanics were also annoying. Nothing Epoch cannot handle, but just takes a long time to defeat. I also beat her by using something I've never used before in Arena, 200 CHA-build.

Fire alandry -> RE: =DF= December 3rd Design Notes: Arena at the Edge of Time: Khasaanda & Tibicenas (12/14/2021 9:06:31)

Somehow, I found myself using MSW against Khasaanda (I guess I love this class too much. I keep ignoring the advice to use BSW or just different class).
Although long, the battle went smoothly. I actually think that I prefer this type of Inn bosses- you must play to their mechanic, but at the same time you have a lot of wiggle room. Not every move must be accurate, even if you can't run blindly.

That's said, after the last release I kinda wish Inn's version of sailing as a challenge. But maybe that's for another thread...
