The Spore Stopping Special!

Hey there, heroes!

This week, we return to Book 3 Dragonsgrasp, where Bart, the Moglin alchemist, is ready and waiting for his most capable (and only) assistant (that's you!) to return!

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/SPORESTOPPINGSPECIALdn.png[/image]

Help out Bart in his endeavor to create an alchemical solution to the fungal problem plaguing the Northlands, and earn yourself some fancy giant potion bottle cosmetic back items, as well as the opportunity to purchase a potion vending machine for your home!

Head over to the marketplace in Book 3 Dragonsgrasp to play this week's release: The Spore Stopping Special!

Also this week, the Normal mode Chickencow encounter has been added to the Arena at the Edge of Time!

Coming up next week, we return to Book 3's main story, investigating further into the Awakened Depths with "Through the Tangle" (Name pending)!

I love the convenience of the potion slot machine, BUT I think it will be better if there's a confirmatory button before buying the potions (or in other words not to accidentally spend 2500gold in one misclick).

I love the new quests. Especially the music. But....why did you do that? Why must the earth quest music be that powerful and awesome? I am a verified metalhead, for avatars sake! Its hard to follow the quest path when you're headbanging.

Jokes aside, i kinda like Bart's quest, like i said before. Cool and straightforward, like in older times.

Is there a chance there will be a new CD soon? I want the music of the earth quest!

I second the release of a new OST CD. I honestly think DragonFable has one of the best video game soundtracks ever made and I have spent literally hundreds of hours listening to all the tracks in the background while doing assignments at uni. There are still some Youtubers out there who are archiving and uploading the newly-released tracks, but having an official release would be sweet.

Potion Slot machine is an amazing QoL item, and the back items are really great for fashion too.

Good release!

The new house item is great but seriously no plans on reducing the gold cost? We're already paying 500 DCs for it, doesn't make sense for it to be even more expensive than what Nieboheim offers, if anything it should be free but if that's not possible then at least a heavy discount?

Laeon val Observis -> RE: =DF= April 15th Design Notes: The Spore Stopping Special! (4/24/2022 2:45:47)

^While I can understand that point (and frankly, we still haven't died down on this release's weird pricing, eh?), I still see it as barely a necessity to down the price on this more than @Roc's recommendation to provide a confirmation notice since...

a. We've been freeloading on all our travel fees. How about for once we up the fee instead of sounding like a Nieboheimian hero who got one too many discounted pierogis for something that's so beneficial, now made real quick to access?
b. Do you realize how many items that cost gold are relevant for higher-tier playing? Not too many. You're more likely to burn through your DCs for non-Inn BiSs appropriate for your level.
c. How about stats? Only the dragon costs gold for untraining and the cheapest Chow.

All in all, those three reasons pretty much sum up how little gold DA holders burn up their gold reserves. And no, not everybody here is as adventurous in the Inn as much as either you or Astral.

I mean, if you wanna talk lore-wise, we're a known hero, not surprising that travel should be free for us or expecting heavy discounts on food

All fair points that I agree with but why is holding too much gold a bad thing though? Especially if we're already at the endgame, isn't that common for alot of RPGs too? This is also a single player game so there's no real economy to speak of, I don't see why players having a ton of gold that they can't finish at endgame is detrimental

Laeon val Observis -> RE: =DF= April 15th Design Notes: The Spore Stopping Special! (4/25/2022 5:55:28)

While the first premise does have room for a case by case basis (I'm the type that doesn't really flaunt privilege), but *sighs*... nowhere in my terms does it say that having too much gold is bad. What I tried to state is along the lines of venting out some of the late/end game crisis. Power is easy, just hurl yourself onto a very powerful challenge adversary. Gold's another thing where splurging it out meaningfully is rarely done in the game. You'll get that once your... federal reserves... starts going up the 7+ digits. Which you ironically defended with your response, which equally ironically undermined your previous attempt to try and stamp down the price.
