I don't own the Hexbound set but I felt like giving out my thoughts about it from an outsider perspective. I think it's a pretty cool set although not sure I'd ever find myself in many situations where the monster, you fight deals fire damage whilst being weak to fire themselves not counting PCO ele scrambling. But I think that’s why they promoted investing END with the weapon so you can play risky and take some hits to take advantage of the full set bonus.

The idea of the auto self inflicted burn is interesting, reminds me of a similar-ish thing from the E-series cryojet weapon, where you can toggle for extra damage but at the cost of being inflicted with ice damage to the player (Not a DoT). If it works how I think it should, I believe you can reduce fire burn DoT on yourself, with a fire res misc like OPTIC or any other fire res misc out there, which we would be useful if you're wearing an armour that doesn't have great fire resistance. Granted I don't know how bad the burn will be on a non fire armour with the weapon.

Another thing besides cleansing the burn with healing branch, you can also use Protocea a misc that gives a quickcast option to cleanse the burn, and give you the regen status to regen health. Then it's a matter if you wanna spend MP or SP to cleanse that burn and choosing between a tome or a misc. Or better yet using absorb hexes from necro just have to be careful it's not quickcast and you leave yourself wide open to an attack that's not darkness, earth or ice damage unless you do this with celarity active.

Overall even though I won't ever buy the whole set, other than maybe the shield. Would give majors props for trying something different.

Someone on my Discord managed to convince me earlier today that the armor was really a lot better than I give it credit for. I was too blindsided and viewed the burn transferrence as the main selling point of the set rather than as a cost. I kept thinking the set was meant to be used for burning the enemy and compared it against other burn equipment. I suppose it was instead meant to be used as a bloodzerker minus the imbue skill. In that case then yes, the damage boost for the burn cost is indeed very good.

I'm not a fan of viewing an equipment's strength by combining it with other strong equipment because combining anything with already strong equipment to begin with will likely yield good results either way.

I guess we agree on the weapon then.

If the idea of a full set bonus is compensatory, why are bloodzerker weapons/armours getting bonuses when they aren't inconvenient to use together?

Simply because different elemental clones of them exist and most items in the game don't have 8 elemental clones of themselves (I know Bloodzerker doesn't have 8 elements, just an analogy). I think it's fair considering the boost is smaller when mixed with different element bloodzerkers. That being said, I do think it will be nice if we are able to mix different elemental clones of equipment for a smaller boost in the future since most of the time you won't be using the same element weapon + shield and armor.

Wicked King was the only example that came to mind, I can't remember if there's any other monster that applied pris burn but my stance for the shield remains unchanged. It doesn't have to be exclusive to just the Wicked King fight. If we get other monsters that inflicted pris burn in the future, it might make the shield good as well, "future proofing" if you will. And based off the example you gave, it didn't trivialize the Wicked King fight at all so I don't think adding pris burn transferrence to the shield would make it "OP" but it would certainly make it better.

Is this Hexbound set permanent or temporary? When will they leave?
