Book 3: The Awakened Depths: Twin Tides

Hey there, heroes!

The Awakened Depths finale has arrived!

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/TWINTIDESdn.png[/image]

The heroism of you and your allies has stirred The Great One to action. But with the Hollow Tytan's seemingly unlimited source of energy, more decisive action is required. Sail over to the Dragesvard camp in Tyndur's Depths to help The Great One put an end to the Tytan's incursion from the Wastes!

Next week, the Awakened Depths epilogue will wrap things up and allow you to finally complete your Greenguard Alliance faction weapon!

And then... where to next?

There have also been some bugfixes and adjustments this week!
  • The fader in the Battle results screen has been lightened, allowing players to better see remaining HP values/info after battle.
  • Fixed an issue where some skills that applied a Bonus effect to self would not have that Bonus affect the skill's attack.
    • Darkon and Darkon Ex's "Fool's Descent" no longer applies Bonus on its first turn.
    • Other challenge battles may be adjusted in the future if required.

And that's all for this week!

spoiler:

It seems this is the last we'll see of Genokratos for the next couple... centuries? Milennia?

I suppose it would've been too easy to have an ancient kaiju to fight the tytans and seal the rifts.

On a side note, what are the chances anybody would move back into Dragesvaard now that they know it's located on the back of a giant monster? Though that does make it a prime spot for some mushroom farming...

Edit: Also just realized, but wouldn't several mountains' worth of kaiju submerging result in massive tsunamis all around the world? We might need to send out a few warnings.

Eyy Vilmor! Good to see that her and Cryozen are safe! If anyone can make a living in the Northlands alone, it's her for sure.

And it looks like Dragonsgrasp and Dragesvard are neighbours now! I guess those refugees won't have to travel far to get home.

But oh jeez, Jaania wants to use Brittany as weaving practice before the Mana Core... And I doubt she's even going to ask for permission from Victoria but I hope I'm wrong about that.

The weapon is awesome. It was cool to see it can change form!

Worthy of the wait as always. Just had to speedrun to get 2 of the cosmetics (for now. Once the faction locks are gone, might go for a third for a Rose variant) just in case if the description's holding true that we'll get faction variants of the reward.

Ah and so the Fungal Tytan has been silenced. Though if I'm being honest even though its effectively dormant now I do worry of Dragesvard still being on top of it and I'm concerned it could eventually be more of a waiting time bomb should something occurs that's powerful enough to wake it back up while civilians are still on it. Then again I do imagine Genokratos' presence is enough to keep it from waking even if some other external power source theoretically comes into play....least there will be time to study the fungus for quite awhile.

And on the note of Genokratos, it's a good thing they only ended up being taken out of commission via forced to sleep instead of dying(plus I imagine they have a winning streak over most of the other Great Dragons for not having to reborn as much if at all) though it is a shame they did so before we could ask them any more questions. Hopefully, it won't be centuries before they end up waking up again to have a discussion.

It's also good that we've gotten to see Vilmor and Cryozen back into the field even if it was the conflict here has come to an end. I presume by her mentioning that there's still a lot to clean up that she may be returning to Dragonsgrasp soon, preferably with the Dragonlords having cleaned up their attitudes towards her, though I suppose she could have just meant they needed to get rid of the fungus that's been left behind. Still hoping we get to chat before we bounce the area.

Can't help but feel like that could end up being an issue. Even though Lestrad has been making an effort to Kord to accept cooperation between the two groups I can't help but feel Kord's insistence on what it means to be a Dragonslayer may present future problems and with an entire stronghold of dragons right next door...well I'm not suggesting Kord may be prone to provoking war or just outright antagonism towards Dragonsgrasp but I fear relationships could potentially be strained when the united threat of the Rifts are no more completely and the Rose isn't in the way.

And then there's Jaania's continued meddling and I got to say if Jaania somehow manages to do more harm than good in whatever she plans on doing to Brittany I imagine Victoria is going to have a few arrows made specifically just for her. With luck this ends with Brittany healed, but I'm imagining the worst case scenario is her soul somehow either getting damaged, fragmented, or just straight up yeeted from her body on accident.

I'm also curious about that glare that Akanthus' gave Jaania. It's possible it was just one of annoyance that she was messing about and wasting time he could have already been set to travel to Mana Core already but I can't help but wonder if on some level he's genuinely furious that she created Hesperrhodos at all. Seems unlikely that he would be morally outraged over that given that it's well...Akanthus but it does make me wonder if reminds him too much of how the Magestirium turns people into walking husks. Again, highly unlikely that was the reason for the glare, but if that was the reason it would be interesting to know that he draws lines somewhere.

Ah but the Deadlands Rift awaits us.

I also thought he was just annoyed that he has to wait longer to execute his plan, but it just occurred to me; it could be envy as well. He likely studied those same books during his time in Azaveyr in an attempt to grasp some form of magic himself, only to fail. So I imagine seeing Jaania's profound success - without any formal training - due to her substantial talent for magic would grind his gears quite a bit.

I guess we can only speculate on what's really going on under that helm. We still don't know much about him at all. Although we might learn a few things if Warlic manages to analyse him. Either way, I hope he gets the Notha treatment and we get a good scoop of backstory and an explanation of what he actually intends to do. As good a villain as he's become, I'd say he deserves as much.
