Live4Fun -> On my yearly AQ binge (11/22/2022 18:00:36)

Hi all,

I mostly come back here once a year and play some AQ again, hence I always have questions.
I've read that dexerty is pretty useless now?? Also, i'm building towards lvl 150 and planning on swapping all items that I currently have to their lvl 150 versions.
Is there aynything that I should change/swap in my current characters build (specially with the dex) or items?
My build is full offensive mage, but I also noticed they've nerfed the purple rain spell and it isn't nearly as good anymore. So I am also struggling with killing stuff before they kill me.

Character page

I have a decent amount of extra slots so tips on gear for specific uses are welcome as well so I can swap them out if needed.
Thanks in advance! And thanks for beeing such a great community that helps out returning players no matter how often they decide to return ;).

As an Int build, Necromancer might be a better Title choice. It comes with status potency, Spellcaster lean for increased spell damage, Int drive, several mana regen options and a powerful dark nuke in Grand Haunting.

Weapons

Caecus comes back in about a month, so keep an eye out for that Pyro Bloodblade.

Keyote returns to the Void next week, so it might be a good idea to grab Blade of Briar. The skill does high damage when paired with Vamp's Evolved form, and Bleed heals hp from Drink passive.

Thunder Lord's Staff toggles to autohit. Returns in early December.

There are two interesting options for a light weapon. Mystic Retro Golden Axe restores mp and sp when you cast a light spell. Lion's Roar gives your light spells +22.5% damage, or a whooping 37.5% against undead.

Blackbones would boost the damage of Necro's Grand Haunting.

Armors

As mentioned above, I highly recommend switching your title and training the Necromancer class.

Unfortunately, that locks out all the fun skills on Holy Armor, so Retro Golden Plate (+12.5% spell boost) might be a better option.

If you grab Blade of Briar, Psionic Vampire variant might be worth trying out.

Shields

Log in next Monday for a chance to get the best wind mage shield in the game.

Serenia's Benediction (Harvest Fest) restores a bit of mp each time you're hit.

Mystic Father Time should return sometime around New Year.

Mana Crystal Defender creates a small Barrier each time you cast a spell.

Unfortunately, Dragonlord's Will now scales off Str and doesn't interact with Gandolphin, so some other option might be preferable.

Spells

Glimpse of the Mountain has a high chance of Petrifying the monster, so it works nicely with Dragonlord's nuke. (though most bosses are immune, or at least highly resistant to stun effects, so keep that in mind)

Knife to Meat You is a qc damage earth spell. Usable 1/battle.

If you decide to invest in End, Your Soul Burns Bright as a Beacon is a light spell that costs hp instead of mp (and old standard hp cost at that, which is pretty negligible). Uses End for stats.

Pets

Spotter Drake gives Status Potency.

If you decide to go for Blade of Briar, Scarab's Bleed Potency might come in handy.

Misc

If you ever find yourself with a spare UR GGB, Prime Chaos Orb is an exceptional misc to have. It comes with a qc skill to scramble monster resists, which allows you to mak best use of all those elecomped armor skills.

Brainwreck is an ok misc. Once per battle it can heal 198 sp, and that can come in handy here and there.

Hopefully this helps, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Live4Fun -> RE: On my yearly AQ binge (11/26/2022 16:25:05)

Thanks very much! Again haha!
Ive made necromancer lvl 20! =D, was a pretty hard fight but the ally assist option really helped me out.
Still figuring out necromancer since there are alot of options.
Swapped all my dex for endurance and it's great untill now, the new light spell you mentioned is pretty neat but the endurance also allows me to just attack with weapons and restore mp through fairy godmother and ofcourse inf gauntlet.
I had a few questions still:

Is the wind shield obtainable through daily quest harvest fest? I couldnt find a name to google on.
And will the thunderlords staff be in limited time shop or also daily event/void?

Can I sell my sizzlers splosion (since I reached lvl 150! =D) and moonwalkers grace? Don't think I will need those.
Also I still have to test out the retro golden axe and armour's effects, was wondering if ultimons armour is more powerfull?

Gonna be getting blade of briar and pyro bloodblade from the void, think I remember where that was and else google is my friend.

Thanks very much, will take some gold farming before I can upgrade everything but after that I can go and experiment with different items and try to kill big bosses.

EDIT: Got the mana crystal defender as well and saw that there's archmage apprentice armor (didn't buy it because I need the gold for temporary items coming up. Is it worth swapping WHEEL out for it once I have some more gold to spend?

Primate Murder -> RE: On my yearly AQ binge (11/26/2022 22:40:46)

Let's see. So, in order:

- Academy Pack is a raffle prize. Once this last monday passes, the shield become perma-rare.

- Thunder Lord's Staff is from Decorate the Tree quest from Frostval.

- Feel free to sell Moonwalker's Grace, but keep Sizzler's Splosion, at least in strorage, since you never know when you'd come across a high MRM wind mob.

- Ultimon's armor is fairly popular, but with only 25% elecomp (and no boosters) it ends up inferior to simply using Retro Golden Plate + D-Burst.

- Archmage Apprentice armor is Spellcaster lean, which is nice, but it has no inbuild nuke. WHEEL is noticeably stronger overall.

Live4Fun -> RE: On my yearly AQ binge (11/27/2022 4:11:06)

Allright, I looked up the raffle thing and you can just get the item randomly. Now I know how I got my dodgeball Z spell again :p
Just play and hope for the best.

Necromancer is great, especially the mana regen option when you have bleed on your opponents.
Might be worth if you get a weapon or item that has a high chance of causing bleed since undead legion or rending weave doesnt always cause it.

Thanks, it's nice to have goals in this game.
